  1. Does anyone watch the VINwiki channel and see the racist remarks from one of their frequent guests?
  2. I got one for Christmas once and then spent all day with their support to learn it didn't work with the chipset in my system. I was crushed having been so excited to get one. On top of that -- had to pay for the phone call to Canada which was a long one. But yeah -- it allowed you to watch TV on your PC. Honestly though it looked like crap when you did because monitors were higher resolution than televisions back then.
  3. That's what happens to odd CL values when GDM is on. You can try to run with GDM disabled, but it may not work.
  4. I can't remember which AMD CPU I upgraded to because I absolutely went AMD next. But I'm struggling trying to figure out how much this Pentium III 1GHz cost me back then.
  5. I wish I could remember what I paid for it. I can't find anything about in online. I do remember that I felt like a boss when I got it.
  6. @ShrimpBrime I just found an old Intel Pentium III Processor 1.00 GHz, 256K Cache, 133 MHz FSB CPU. I assumed it was an old Athlon XP, but hadn't pulled the old Thermaltake cooler off in 20 years so completely forgot what it was. I'm not sure I could put the hardware together to test this thing. I think I have a slightly older Celeron too. How old is the Celeron brand? Man, was I pumped when I got this 1GHz CPU playing CS without the GO. With it was a slightly newer ATI Radeon 9500 64M.
  7. Have you considered letting the source of the affiliate link serve as the notification and then going directly to Newegg to test this theory?
  8. What are you using to check your speeds? If it's Ryzen Master then I don't think that shows the multiplier the cores are running at but instead their effective speeds. And disabling c-states should do it and you can probably use Windows power plan too by setting Minimum Processor State to 100%.
  9. I updated the title and OP after it was learned there were casualties.
  10. It was under construction so the likelihood of accidents is far greater. The materials used (sound dampening) are speculated to contribute to the severity of the fire.
  11. Ok I thought that was what you meant. I can use the USB to IDE adapter with another HDD successfully and don't have another PC to try. And while the drive is definitely bad to some degree the error it throws leads me to believe it might not be a mechanical problem and can be fixed through software.
  12. Can you elaborate please? I don't know that I understand what you mean.
  13. So I have an old HDD (molex, IDE, Master/Slave jumper) that I wrote "not broken" on last time I messed with it, but that was years ago. Drive powers up and I use an IDE to USB cable (verified working), but I can't see the drive in Windows with any utility (Explorer, Drive Manager, Diskpart). The odd thing is that the HDD does cause weird behaviors with the PC and also that Error 55 when trying to restart the PC with the drive plugged in. And that error is assigned to F: which would be the appropriate letter if I could see the drive in Windows. The weird behaviors with the drive plugged are: very long POST followed by the keyboard and mouse not working once I get to the Windows login screen and the drive making Windows take forever to restart, ultimately causing that BSOD as it tries. I've tried to google this but I don't have a good search term or phrase yet and was hoping for a jump start from someone please. Goal is to fix the HDD if possible.
  14. Bahahahaha. Oops. I meant casualties, but causalities kinda works too.
  15. Summary As the event unfolds in China it's hard to get solid news sources, but it's obvious the Huawei building is on fire. So far no reports of causalities or casualties with first responders on-scene. There has been mention of an explosion, but those mentions come from social media and not any state news source. Update: Unfortunately it appears three lives were lost in the fire. https://www.scmp.com/news/china/society/article/3103154/fire-huawei-compound-southern-china-leaves-three-dead https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1251050-huawei-rd-lab-on-fire-and-possible-explosion/?do=findComment&comment=14060738 Quotes My thoughts When it rains -- it pours. It's like they just can't catch a break. Poor, poor Huawei. Condolences to the friends and family of the victims. This loss of life is certainly not a joking matter. 16. Damn it. I didn't see this before I posted some more. Many thanks for this answer.
