  1. Frog is starting to look even cooler now I've installed the optical drive and the USB card from my paternal Uncle, the beige 5.25" floppy drive and the Soundblaster Pro 2 (for testing and seeing what the midi is like on it) from my maternal Uncle. The NOS beige 3.25" floppy drive from the shop haul a couple of weeks ago. and the IDE to Compact Flash (With a 1GB card in it) from eBay a while ago. Didn't need any power extensions or adapters to get power to all the drives and cards. Here's the pics.. yeah, yeah..I know, the colours are slightly off. But it looks waaayy better than having the black drives in there...and not a DVD drive to worry my air cooled Voodoo 3 3000 AGP in sight
  2. Are they actually selling at that price or are they just marked up at that price? Follow a few and see if they get sold. I've recently come in to possession of an old ISA sound card. Searched for it on eBay and there was one listed for £180 I know full well I'm not gonna be selling mine for anywhere near that if I put it for auction
  3. I'd leave it. I run my ram at 3000 and don't have any issues. If you were to try and get that extra 200MHz then first of all you'd need to reselect profile 1. Then go in to your overclock settings and manually adjust the frequency down from 3600 to 3200. The 3600 profile will have looser timings. You may find the profile 2 timings too tight for 3200MHz. I always opt for tighter timings over higher frequency and it's not failed me yet. That's why I use the 3000MHz profile on my PC
  4. Running your RAM in single channel will always affect your performance. There are multiple tests online that show this. Two 8GB sticks will perform better than a single 16. Even if your were using 2x4GB sticks for a total of 8GB. as long as your game isn't needing to dip in to the page file it will perform better than a single 16GB. I used to run GTA on 8GB with no issues back on my 6600k/1070 rig. You'll need to manually set the speed in your BIOS to 3600MHz. Even then it's no guarantee that the memory controller on the R5-3600 will like that. 3200MHz was always the sweet spot for Ryzen Chips 3XXX and lower. Turn on XMP/A-XMP/DOHP/DOCP whatever it's called in your BIOS then try it for a bit see how it does. If you're getting bluescreens then get back in the BIOS and leave everything the same but dial back the RAM speed to 3200MHz. The slower frequency will ease the pressure off the tighter timings set by the profile on the DIMMS. It's possible but unlikely
  5. I'd say 80-60 is about right for a R5-3600. My i5-11500 is around there also. Does your friend have the same CPU? Edit: OK so it's a little lower than GN's numbers in there review of the chip. Their numbers are nowhere near the 140fps your friend is getting though This is your issue
  6. I can't really sell the whole thing cause there's a couple of bits I want out of it. Keep your eyes on the classifieds though always open to deals for multiple items
  7. Also, sorry to be a pain, but I'll probably be selling most of the stuff out of these as the plan is to built one decent retro DOS 6.22 / Windows 98 SE machine out of all three of them. Is it worth putting the stuff in the classifieds here first for a few weeks before listing them on eBay or shall I just head straight to eBay? (I know everyone is broke at the minute with the cost and living and such but then....so am I )
  8. I'll create a new post, sorry. I've opened up the Baby AT system a cleared out the mess of ribbon cables to reveal the gooey goodness inside.. It has a Gigabyte GA 586ATV Rev 4B Socket 7 Motherboard in it. Which to Gigabyte's credit they still have the manual for online here.. https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-586ATV/support#support-manual Compatibility in the manual list up to a Pentium 200 and a Pentium MMX 233 It also has this Cirrus Logic VC923/926 Fastware card with the GD5446 chipset which another forum lists as one of the first consumer grade parts with media acceleration built in and finally a Creative Labs CT1690..The Creative Soundblaster Pro 2 from 1993.. I like this one cause it has the older Creative logo on the bigger chip and the newer one on the smaller chip
  9. You may or may not remember I managed to snag my late Uncle's Baby AT machine a while back. It's been in storage since then but today I took it out of storage and booted it up for the first time..It was quite surprising what was in there. I was expecting maybe a 386 or a 486 with 4-8MB of RAM..but... The purchase sticker on the bottom dates the PC back to '94 so my uncle must have put some serious chops in to upgrading this thing over the years. I can't get past this screen yet as I can't find my PS/2 to AT converter for my keyboard. I guess the next step is to stand down the monitor and open the little tower up and have a dig through the cables in there
  10. It was something AMD had to do because if i remember rightly most of the B450 boards only had 8MB chips so if you look at the pages of these affected boards you'll see the BIOS line bifurcates and some versions will add newer chips and others will retain support for older ones
  11. if you installed an 11th Gen CPU in your Z490 board I'm assuming you flashed the BIOS? Check on the MSi website that the BIOS adding the 11th Gen support deosn't knock out support for the older smaller 10th Gen chips. I know some AMD BIOS will add support for newer chips at the expense of losing support for older ones. It might just be a case of flashing your old BIOS back on the board with the 11700 and then doing the CPU swap
  12. Your fan isn't reporting PWM status. could be the wiring going where it plugs in to the board on the card. Do you have Afterburner installed? Maybe install that and see what that reports what the fans are doing/let it control the fans if it works ok in there
  13. My 1070 paired with my OC'd i5-6600k was perfection for 1080p@60 gaming back in the day and all for less than 700 quid (card, motherboard, CPU and 8GB DDR4) brand new
  14. Mirror from the Purchases thread. I got a few bits from my Uncle the other day when I went over there. I won't share all the pics cause they're pretty generic looking but I'll snap the two things I'm keeping. Generic internal 56k Modem PCI A Trust 511 5.1 PCI Sound Card with a E3DX 6Channel chip A(nother lol) Black Sata DVD Multi drive (I have quite a few of these kicking around now) An IDE DVD Rom drive in Beige (might keep this cause of the colour but it won't be going in Frog) Now the good stuff.. A StarTech.com PCI425USB 4 port add-in card and a wonderful Liteon 40x12x48 IDE CDRW. So paired with the Hercules CDRW (with the weird card readers built in to it) I can finally have two CD drives both the same colour in Frog
  15. Not really a purchase but i got a few bits from my Uncle the other day when I went over there. 16. I'm old enough to remember when this was in the charts
  17. My gf @Skyesgaming loved bear and breakfast You could go real old school and try the 'Theme' series from Bullfrog I just picked up Theme Park for my Mega Drive. Older Civs. The Rollercoaster Tycoon series is excellent too. Roller coaster tycoon 2 will still work on anything you throw it on. If you want a purely coaster focused builder then Disney's Coaster from donkey's years ago was a lot of fun
  18. Banned for not having a valid excuse
  19. banned cause duct tape holds the British Army together
  20. Banned for being old school
  21. It'll only embed a preview of the song though. Not the full thing
  22. Banned for no knowing they go red and squiggly when you quote them....exaple
