  5. hi peeps time to upgrade my aging HTPC from its current setup of Asrock FM2A88M EXTREME 4+ with an A8 6600k running 2x4Gb ddr3 ( 8 Gb total ) setup into an Thermaltake media lab Bach case thinking of moving over to the following config' Gigabyte H170N-WIFI (itx) (small for the case but switching later when i get higher cap HD's in) Intel i5 6600 16Gb (2 X 8gb ) ddr4 , overkill maybe possible an Intel 540 or 600p m.2 system drive 120/128 gb keeping for the moment 4x2tb wd green and 1x 1.5tb wd green, Blueray/dvd drive ( Samsung i believe ) i will be upgrading the HD's to fewer higher capacity drives later on as the current ones have about 20gb in total left in free space atm lol wifi not really an issue as the pc will be plugged directly into my NBN ( fiber) router and not needed but it will be running into my Hisense 58K321UW 4k tv via a HDMI 2.0 port , using the mobo's HDMI output which i believe is also HDMI 2.0 Am i correct in my research that both the motherboard and cpu will support a proper 4k signal into my tv intel ark states Max Resolution (HDMI 1.4)‡ 4096x2304@24Hz but the HDMI 1.4 part i assume means if the mobo hdmi being only 1.4 not 2.0 i don't really want to add in a graphics card just stick with the built in intel graphics for now any thoughts would be appreciated

  9. I'm now playing the waiting game , with the 1060 release in Australia i can get an MSI GeForce GTX1060 Gaming X or the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1060 Gaming G1 for @ $500Au from the seller i usually buy gear from , were as the RX 480s are running from $320~$450 Au but they are reference cards, i waiting on the non reference RX480 cards to see how they will perform 1060 is nice, but no sli capability rx480 is, i take it crossfire capability arhhhh its last thing i need to upgrade in my game rig (lol was filling out reply but in the wrong post ) but applies to both i guess

  13. yeah there is 4pin fan header next to the cmos battery below the cpu sockett buying the noctua fan should be ideal as they do come with the extra fan cables to add some extra length to reach the front fan , and a spliter to add extra fans if your already running a fan of that header look into the deepcool fan hub that might be useful if you able to pick on up where your from http://www.deepcool.com/product/dcoolingaccessory/accessory/2013-12/48_663.shtml
  14. I've made 3 pcs for my mates now using the corsair graphite 230t case and I must say its great to work with heaps of space and room for cable management the front fans are nice a quite and in my case's red lcd and one I even mounted a corsair H60 in the top and fitted an Asus HD6950 in there the tool less drive bays are great too, slip in and forget
  15. slim with mass hard drive capacity hard to find... i have two htpcs, ones in a SilverStone ML04 HTPC Case with only 1x 3.5" drive while the other in a more roomier thermaltake Bach media lad case holding 5 x 3.5", blue ray drive and a ssd boot drive . the thermaltake is only 150mm high but not what you would call "slim" http://www.thermaltake.com/products-model.aspx?id=C_00000189
