  1. thank you for the input, I will try to say something to whom I overheard this from and pass on this information. thank you I wanted to add more to this. More of what I am hearing is that IPV6 is a means to try and get rid of using NAT and that all computers will have their own IP address that can be connected to from anywhere. I am sure there would be a way to still use firewalls and other types of security. There is alot of talk about running ipv6 in some sort of tunneling on ipv4 lines and having the uses of talking to each other while attempting a move towards ipv6. This would mean that if your running ipv6 that the vpns will need to have some means to communicate with their existing ipv4 settings or some sort of stacking or it could cause more issues for being anonymous. There has also been talk by going to ipv6 will allow the isps to better regulate the priority and bandwidth of your service from how much you pay for the service. here is one of the sites I was shown that has alot of information but still looking for additional information about how it can effect the end user more then the big companies. https://www.us.ntt.net/downloads/papers/Network_World_Executive_Guide_IPv6.pdf Alot of reading there hehe... again this didnt answer all my questions but wanted to share what I have found.
  2. I cannot validate this information so I wanted to ask if anyone else has heard anything close to this. I have heard that companies are pushing more for ipv6 to be a mandatory config as it is harder to hide your address when using this protocol. Making it more difficult for those with bad intentions to do something to harm. I was also told that this would and could make it where vpn's will have little or no chance to give total protection also making it harder for people doing torrents. I found some of this out in casual conversation in which there was more talk about security due to the expanding ransomware attacks that are happening since some people are looking for a quick dollar and to try and hinder movie downloads on torrents. Please dont bash me, I am not sure of this information and figured that by asking here with this large user base that there may be someone that can validate this if it has any truth. Have a nice day
  3. I have a med skill with networking and after some people heard that I help do free computer work for some, I was donated some gear after they heard I was wanting to learn more. right now using a netgear gs724t managed switch I now have a Force10 s4810 monster I only have 2 sfp+ 10g trans and 1 dual 10g sfp+ card and 1 dual sfp 1g server port card I saved some money and purchased a rj45 to usb console cable and have reset the switch to factory while learning some cli and then I was blessed with a poweredge r510 with one internal drive and the 2 network cards that i mentioned. I have installed windows server 2016 standard and working on getting a key to register. I was given some 72g sas drives but now I have to save for caddies. There done cost that much but when you dont have much it takes a little time to save the money So More to the questions: 1. would anyone have ideas to best information on working and setting this up for someone that has med network skills right now 2. good place to better understand setting up vpn's? (I have been watching videos but somewhat confused) 3. for later I will need to save for second processor and more memory, suggestions on best cheap place to check prices so i know what i need to save next hehe 4. Good place to study advanced network terms and how they are used. To better understand the tweaking for doing 10g 5. Since I have alot of 1g products should i get rj45 transceivers for the 10g switch or just link to the 1g switch with uplink since i can use sfp on a sfp+ switch? I will have more questions later as this will not be an overnight understanding. Thank you for any information and directions to do more research. If what I ask is vague please let me know and I will try to expand my post in my limited way in hopes you can understand what I am trying to ask.
  4. when you capture with obs you are using the camera like a web cam. You setup the values you want in obs and as long as it can see the camera you can configure how fast you want to capture up the the limits of the camera. Now if your trying to capture the video on just the camera and then stream it to obs then your trying to stream files and the limits are usually the settings of the camera at the time you where recording. When you watch it on your computer you can setup obs to stream that window. You might go check some different obs forums and see if anyone is having the same issues as you or post there since they are pretty good and helping with the software.
  5. Here I go giving my opinion again. I would say due to the lack of information that I can go from you might consider going with a security camera setup. You can get them with high res cameras and the option to capture audio, or get with no audio and setup for external audio recording and sync the two. With that many cameras I would think that it would be a good start and later if you upgrade to higher end video you could always use the others for security purposes.
  6. Without saying who I picked them up from I could say that their network didnt have any long runs and that most was setup to work off the 2 10gb sfp+ switches. Also I found out that none of the transceivers where rj45. Since the 1gb card was sfp it could work with the sfp+ switch and then the second port used to connect to a 1gig switch that could have a sfp link. I am sure the same could be done with the onboard network as I will never know I can agree, we can speculate a ton of reasons that did this as now I know a few more that could of been done. As someone that has not done this level of networking yet I was excited to get the hardware and didnt ask to many questions, I grabbed and left before anyone could change their mind The thing that kinda got me was that besides the dual 10gb sfp+ card there was a 1gb sfp card and its "dual port server adapter" in which it didnt really say it worked like a nic and with the bracket showing just "act/link a and act/link b" I didnt know if it was a special support card or what. Even the 10g card had more info on the bracket. when researching "dual port server adapter" I couldnt really get any good information about the card or if there is something beyond just being a dual 1gb sfp card.
  7. I aquired a dell poweredge r510 12bay with no caddies. It also had to additional NIC's where one is a 10gb sfp+ and a second that is a 1gb sfp with dual trans attached to the card. My brain cells must not be firing very well as its a Intel® PRO/1000 PF Dual Port Server Adapter and where you make the connections it just says "act/linka and the other act/linkb" Since this was a pull from a company server I cannot grasp why they would have two cards, 1 10gb card and a 1gb card since this already has dual 1gb rj45 connectors on the main board. My thought is that the 10gb sfp+ card is for moving files between arrays. The 1gb sfp card is to connect to another 1gb switch that would have a sfp connection since alot of lower end switch's are only sfp. The other thought would be that they wanted to use fiber for a lower power usage. Again I am not sure as I didnt ask alot of questions. My other issue is I cannot grasp whats the difference between a server adapter or a 1gb sfp card. In my talks I was also able to aquire 2 dell force 10 s4810 switch's in which I am learning the command line and setup they are bigger than I will ever use but it will be a learning experience thank you for any information.
  8. I seen where he did a video creating an arcade machine, so how about a video creating a virtual digital pinball machine? Look at this youtube video to follow up on the idea and it says freeware? so that is a plus! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCD3jvaIJycBPtRKgl03cBbA is a link to the group for visual pinball here is a link to a video for better info Interesting to see if he can do this
  9. And yet I have seen people work with older equipment that had so many problems it discouraged them. It makes me wonder how many of these people could of become great photographers if only they had better equipment. I was reading where a man started a couple years ago learning how to take photo's and his work has been shown in magazines already and he said it was the ease of learning that he didn't have with his older cameras. Please, I am not trying to argue, but from the info that I have learned is the reason I said medium or better.
  10. I am not trying to put down older or cheaper equipment, I am saying for the person starting out with the desire to learn could see exciting results using mid level camera equipment. More of the videos that are out show mid to higher level equipment and having something alike can also be a benefit because there will be more information on how they used the equipment that you can now relate, while having a greater savings for used lens's, flash and other extras that could work with what you may have.
  11. In my opinion a contract will be good for both of you as you cannot go after the company for money later and they cannot go after you if they dont like the end result. I say this as I was reading where a photographer had taken wedding photo's for a friend getting married for free. It was their friend and they wanted to do something nice for their wedding. After he gave them the photo's and even a copy on a disc there was a conflict with the friends new partner and a friendship was lost over free work. So I would consider doing a contract if for nothing else to protect the friendship. good luck.
  12. One of the things I have heard others doing to enlarge a photo is to set it up an with good lighting and take another photo of the photo. Do it in RAW and highest res you can. At this point you may be able to use software to smooth it out and resize it to what you want will lesser problems. It will not be perfect but it may give you another option to work with for what you want.
  13. Just my thoughts, since the map is always the same then isolate the different teams and transition just the teams for each photo. In other worlds remove the map on all the other photo's where you only see the teams and then in order transition each one in order as an overlay of the map and you will get the time laps you want. this is just a very general ideal and you could tweak it more, or it may give you a better one
  14. I believe if someone is just taking pictures to take pictures then gear may not have the importance. If someone really wants to learn photography then gear makes a bigger impact as upgrading gear as your learning levels grow can become very expensive. Not having the best, but quality gear gives the one more chance for growth and I have noticed that people that spend more on gear even when learning will put more effort to learn and take better care of what they have. My wife looking over my shoulder, says that is not always the case as some people give up, as it did not make them instant photographers.
  15. Just a thought but don't expect a lot from a 300$ purchase unless you get very lucky and find something used in great shape. I only say that because I started out with what I could get and I am still far from the gear I would like. Using low end hardware seem to always make it harder to edit as there was always something going wrong. Don't get me wrong, I have produced some good results but overall I had more problems then I wanted. Good luck to your choices.
