  1. When I first put LM on the pure copper IHS, I hadn't read about LM "drying out" so I was a little surprised to see what happened. I did absolutely see a negative impact to my temps, my situation may be rare, but the increase in temps is what caused me to completely disassemble my loop to find the pics above. I think the combination between the IHS and the cold plate on my CPU block, and also between the die and the IHS caused my temps to increase by almost 10 deg C. I removed the IHS, put on the stock delidded IHS and my temps went back to a chilly 40 deg C during gaming.
  2. This is exactly what happened to my set up. It impacted my temps. i wouldn't recommend bare copper with LM. The tweet is on the bare copper IHS, but it also absorbed into the IHS between the die as well. When i pulled off the IHS the LM was dry and crusty between the IHS and die.
  3. Looking forward to the build. Post a link to the build log. I can't recommend EK ZMT tubing enough. If you are going to go for soft tubing, that is the way to go! Let us know if you have any other questions! -J
  4. Thanks, The front panel is a gunmetal gray brushed aluminum. It is hard to pick up the color with a camera, if the light hits it right, you'll see the color better. The front panel has a ASUS ROG design that I think is meant to look like circuit traces on a PCB.

What is the base assembly? Did you make that yourself, or is it a manufactured part? Awesome build and can't wait to see your continued progress! -J
  6. That is a great color combination! Nicely done! Yeah, right now I am limited by the Asus Aura software. The current version is buggy as hell and doesn't work properly with my motherboard, so I reinstalled windows and just left the rainbow for now. I am hoping that they will get it fixed with the next version of the software. Yeah, I'm not a big fan of the rainbow colors. Here's currently the issues thread for the Aura software... AURA 1.05.28 & 1.05.32.02 [Report all issues in this thread] I'll probably go with a red theme, for obvious reasons. Do you have some more pics of your build? -J
  7. I'm willing to bet that the discoloration you see on the nickel will come clean with Flitz metal polish. I highly recommend Blitz part 2 to clean out your loop. It is safe to use on nickel parts and should help remove some of the stubborn stuff from the rads.
  8. Nice work! I really like your pump res assembly, where did you get it. It looks like something like what Radikult Customs makes. https://www.ebay.com/usr/radikultcustom?_trksid=p2047675.l2559 And those are great temps for your setup! I'm getting around 60 degrees on my 8700k O/C to 5.0 GHz and 48 degrees on my 1080Ti.
  9. To clean the acrylic, you can use Meguiars Plastx Clear Plastic Cleaner & Polish with a microfiber cloth. This will clean and polish the acrylic where it is "stained". For the nickel blocks, use Flitz non-abrasive metal polish, again with a microfiber cloth. You can find all of this stuff at Automotive parts stores. Keep us updated and good luck.
