Resolve doesn't struggle with higher res. I'm usually editing 60-100mbs 1440p h.265 and it does fine on the free version that is without using hardware encode/decode.(580 8gb and a 2700)
It does love GPU memory which is why the Radeon VII is so strong in it.

Yeah it is. Taran would be crying for hours remaking hundred of macros. my GF and I do it as a side gig during college and while shes a FCPX and I'm on resolve both of us hate adobe. No way I'm paying monthly for that broken software.
 
Given they own a 4+ blackmagic cameras all come with licenses so I think they wouldn't have to buy any.

It's called a learning curve for a reason. That 90% is them basically crying about change 😂 I like Da Vinci while I do agree with many things here vs Adobe I refuse to go back due to the cost. That said I don't do it to make money so next to forcing them to get to 98% or 100% (possible) could cost the company a fair amount of money.
 
Not really, every computer needs a license so the math makes sense. Now the madness as to why they have so many editors... Well that's a different story 🙄
