  1. Depends on what weighting you prefer, but I would recommend that you get the black bottom and milky top housings regardless of weight. I recommend Yellows, they have an intermediate weighting slightly heavier than a red but lighter than a black, and their spring is also a slow curve spring and is quite nice.
  2. Silent Linears - MX Zilents (Cherry MX Black or Red Slider inside ZealPC or Aliaz Housing + Good 3rd party spring [TX, KMAC, THICTHICK, Punchy, CWW etc]) - Super quiet and super smooth, travel is reduced a bit but and some people do not like the "mush" - Healios & Other Zeal Variants Basically a firmer, less silent MX Zilent with full travel and a shit spring - Silent Inks: About as smooth as ZealPC offerings but quite a bits cheaper with a semi shit spring. Silent Tactiles: - ZealPC Zilents Very tactile switches, but not tactile in the traditional way as the bump starts at the very top instead of the middle. Decently quiet but has a shit spring - Aliaz Switches, Basically a smoother MX brown with silencing pads, full travel distance, semi shit spring - Silent Outemu Skys - Lots of wobble, not very smooth, Cherry Ergo Clear Tactility, comes with possibly the worst spring known to man Linears - JWK Linears - Smoothest budgets switches, note: JWK is the factory behind the infamous durock and zealpc clones, newer JWK linears are really smooth, notably the Alpaca, Marshmello, and H1 switches - Gateron Inks - Almost as smooth as Tealios but with a deeper sound and a cheaper price, note: some versions are known to have loose leafs - Tealios - Very smooth but quite loud and have bad springs with lots of ping - Retooled Blacks - Very silent due to nylon housing, relevant smooth but can be drastically improved if enough time and effort are put into them and if you get a good batch. Stock spring is not good either - Gateron Linears - Pretty basic and reasonably smooth, I would recommend the Milky Top Black Bottom Gateron Yellow Switches as they have the best sound and spring out of the gateron linear line. - Novelkey creams - they're alright, nothing bad but not as good as the hype suggests. Tactiles - Zealio V2s- Very tactile, bump starts at the very top, springs are quite bad - Ergo Clears (MX Clear stem and housing with 3rd party spring) Reasonably tactile, nice sound, og - Holy Pandas - Invyr/Yok/Gsus housing + Halo stem - They're alright, some people like the sound and feel (Rounded tactile similar to but not as strong as zeal v2s) - JWK Tactiles, These include T1s, Oreos, Koalas switches etc, they're quite tactile (Somewhere in between a HP and a Zeal V2) and are quite cheap and smooth
  3. Don't bother with o rings Bad stabs, if they're cherry style stabs get some genuine cherry plate mount or gmk screw ins (pcb mount) depending on what type of stabs your board uses, lube the areas with wire-plastic contact with super lube, and the plastic to plastic contact area with Krytox 205g0 Filling your case with some foam or felt is a good idea and should help. Changing the switches would require desoldering and resoldering, and if you're changing the switches, go and get yourself some switches that are better than outemus. Outemus have some of the worst stock springs known to man, and they ping like hell. If you're getting new switches (I would recommend JWK or gateron switches as they're cheap and smooth), you probably should mod them while you're at it, get some lube (I recommend 204g0 or 3204 [same thing] for beginners), switch films (if needed), and imo most importantly better springs.
  4. The actuation force depends on a lot of different factors, and not all spring weights are equal in feeling, a progression 68g spring will actuate at a lighter weight than a slow curve one. Spring weight is kinda irrelevant to me as I always swap out springs, as most stock springs are pretty shit.
  5. it should, it's a tray mount, you should be able to just screw the pcb onto the stand offs. But if you're using a hotswap pcb always use a plate. EDIT: NVM, it uses plate stabs, so no you can't use pcb mount unless you don't want stabs. You can't really use those... Eh, I would get something different, Zealpc is retooling their switches ant im p sure those switches are nos, I would get gateron ink silents instead, theyre a better value as well I would use 205g0 (not the storeuni shit) for the plastic on plastic stab parts, Super Lube 21030 for the stab wire and plastic, and 204g0/3204 for the switches (They're the easiest for beginners to apply imo)
  6. they're alright, springs are pretty bad so if you're getting them swap them out for something like a tx or kmac spring. If you want silent switches the best imo are mx zilents (ZealPC housing with a MX Silent red/black stem, they have a bit less travel but sound a lot better and feel softer. Silent Ink switches are also pretty good, and are much better value compared to the zeals.
  7. Basically, the lube is separated into various components into an oil and little white cottage cheese esque pieces. Storeuni is synonymous for having bad mixes of krytox that separates at natural temperatures, which means that long term, the solution will separate while in your switches. The reason for why this is is not widely agreed upon, some speculate it has something to do with their vendor (They get it from a different factory than Krel), or that their lube has been stored in sub-optimal duration or locations. Nope, there was a controversy since the first orders they sent out. It's quite widely agreed upon in the custom keyboards community that storeuni lube is an inferior good compared to krels.
  8. The ones on amazon are grade 2, I would use grade 0, but grade 2 works well as well, I sometimes use it mixed with 105 Be careful where you get your lube from, not all Krytox is created equal, and some vendors like keys.my (Formally Store Uni) sell really bad lube that often come already disjointed.
  9. only bag lube springs. and for springs i would use krytox 105 or lsd oil
  10. Pretty sure theyre custom pad printed WASD keyboard keycap sets. https://www.wasdkeyboards.com/products/keycaps/keycap-set.html I would advise against getting these, they're pretty shit
  11. tx bags https://kr.txkeyboards.com/products/tx-bag
  12. tray mount plates, cases and pcbs are usually universal
  13. Linus mentioned that the reason why most people chose Mx Browns for their favorite tactile switch may be due to the lack of competition but frankly that is very untrue. The last year saw perhaps the greatest amount of innovation in MX stem tactile switches. Before, the enthusiast "switch of choice" might have been and "ergo clear" (MX clear stem & housing with lighter spring), vendors such as ZealPC innovated on by partnering with Gateron to make "Stock Ergo Clears" which are the Zealio V1 switches, a smoother ergo clear. People however, were craving for more tactility, and this came to be in the Zanda switch, a Frankenstein switch made from a Zealio V1 stem and a Invyr Panda (A switch that was supposed to be a "super linear switch" what had factory lube and a POM top [Actually turned out to be PC], which sucked so much that it was better as a tactile switch than an linear), which with it's thicker angled leaf made more tactility. This changed again when TopClack made the "Holy Panda" (Invyr Panda Housing + Halo Stem) a switch with very round tactility and a distinct sound. Lots of people within the community liked the rounded-ness of the tactile bump and demand for HPs skyrocketed. ZealPC saw this and decided to make an even more tactile rounded switch the Zealio V2s, which are super tactile and rounded. There are also other tactile switches such as the very sharp and even more tactile BOX Royal. These tactile switches differ a lot from the traditional brown switch with switches such as the Holy Panda and Zealio V2 being more rounded and more akin to something like topre, then mx browns. It's not really there's weaker and less competition (there in fact is more) but rather very different opinions on tactility.
  14. There are Cherry MX Linear Grey and MX Super and Mega Blacks, you can always spring swap to make the heavier. MX Blacks are going pretty strong within the enthusiast circle actually especially with the higher end custom boards (500$ + boards), lots of people are using vintage or retooled cherry black switches (Spring swapped, filmed and lubed usually). Not V1s, those had so much wobble the keycaps would sag down, and the linear version's stem pole was so thick that heroinbob (the vendor of Outemu sky) included drill bits for users to "retool" the switches.
  15. Yeah, i doubt it's that, shouldn't rust that quickly They use the same springs, but some may have older more worn out tooling. Spring crunch is pretty common on most stock springs, even 1$/Switch Zeal switches have terrible springs sounds.
  16. Usually it's just a bad quality spring, which can cause spring ping. If it sounds like a "ping" or something crunching/creaking it's most likely just the spring. Only real solution would be to desolder the switchers and get swap out the springs for something better (TX Springs, CWW, KMAC Springs, etc.), or/and lube them with oil, like GPL 105, Paraffin oil, or LSD Oil.
  17. OTD CLs are very good quality/price. I nominate them for the 4000$+ category.
