Looks like Private Internet Access has been purchased by Kape Technologies.

Changing their name to Private Internet.

... our new partner, Kape Technologies, with whom we are merging with today. Along with its digital privacy activities, including Cyberghost and Zenmate, together, we will continue the fight, even stronger, and moreover, in the most transparent way possible – as a publicly listed company that anyone can own. The company, which will now be called Private Internet, should not be in the hands of any one person, but instead, all people should have the fair right to own and participate in privacy.

Along with our award-winning VPN services, we will be launching Private Search and the totally free and private Libre Browser, which are all powered by strong cryptography and the driving moral principle that privacy is a fundamental right for all.

PS. Woahh there's a lot of bloat in that blog post. Over 350 words before they even get to the news that they have been purchased.

Will be interesting to see what happens. Hopefully PIA (or Private Internet now) handles the situation well.
I can definitely understand why a lot of people might be concerned about the change though.

iirc the main issue with TunnelBear was that it was originally Canadian but got bought by an american company, which raised concerns about what new laws they would become subject to.  When asked for clarification on this issue, they never got back to LTT, and so were dropped.  PIA is theoretically vulnerable to the same issue, but that really depends on who this Kape Technologies is.  If they're not something that's going to raise concerns the way the purchaser of TunnelBear did, I don't foresee an issue.

Hmm well assuming they mean London England then it is very much the same situation.  Hopefully for their sake they'll pick up the proverbial phone if and when LTT calls this time lol
