  1. okay then, so i'm guessing the mk1 for msi was just a rebrand of their design for the 480, but the mk2 is completely new cooling? as for 580's i've considered these three: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06Y46X4L9/?coliid=I7AOXPM5E4EO2&colid=U5DQ60XF0V&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it https://www.amazon.com/MSI-RX-580-8G-OC/dp/B079NX4GCF/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1538990581&sr=8-5&keywords=580&th=1 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071QX74F9/?coliid=I17CJRNBPISRG5&colid=U5DQ60XF0V&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it would the sapphire be worth it?
  2. The 2gb difference I'm only really considering for the future. Hoping to use the gpu for the next 4 years, like my old one. And I probbaly will upgrade my monitor before my gpu. Since I'm not looking to overclock, I'm looking for the best one @ Stock that has the best longevity basically. Also I've seen reviews of the msi 580 not being the best per say, due to higher temps and louder fans.
  3. Do you have any models you recommend. I'm gonna be buying through amazon mostly due to my history with their customer when I've had bad shipments or faulty devices (refunded my CPU when it arrived a day late, only a problem because I was going away for a few moths and needed the CPU that day for my build). I know I may find the better price on pcpartpicker, but i'm just more comfortable buying thru amazon. Also, any thought son the matter of VRAM. Should I go with the 580 because games MAY increase VRAM usage in the future, or should I not consider the 2 gb difference a factor
  4. Acer GN246HL. I'm not familiar with the color banding issue. I've had my 760 since 2014 and never noticed a problem. I guess I wouldn't be able to notice since I've played with only nvidia gpu's. I'm more comfortable with nvidia I guess, and their software. Main reason I'm finding it hard to switch to AMD.
  5. Pretty good graph here lol. guessing there's no difference. My monitor has no adaptive sync.
  6. Totally understand. My Monitor model supports neither of these however.
  7. With the 580 beating out the 1060 in DX12 games, would you say its more future proof?
  8. Got it. I'm more asking comparisons between the 580 v the 1060
  9. Should've specified, my bad. I'm looking in the sub 300 range. And Yeah, definitely more than 3GB.
  10. I've had a GTX 760 for a while now, back when it was the best bang for buck GPU on the market. Finally, yesterday it died after years of torture. So I haven't been into the PC components market for a while, and need some help picking a new GPU. Noticed that higher end cards are ridiculously priced right now cuz of those miners, and trying to buy like a 970 is out of the question. So I've been looking at the 1060 vs the 580. Thoughts? Playing at 1080 on a 144Hz monitor i5 6600K @ Stock Only buying new Not really a discussion of price vs performance, because their price points are similar when buying new (between 580 and 1060) Not looking for a overclocked out of box, higher end version of these cards, just looking for the best generic one. ~300 USD Edit: Noticed that there's WAY more selection in aftermarket gpu's, So if you guys have any suggestions for those stuff too that'd be great
  11. Doesn't have the versatility I need. I'm looking for a machine running windows 10 sorry
  12. So i'll be starting college later this month, and I have no idea what to get in terms of laptops. I know my way around what to buy for desktops and builds, but know jack shit about laptops. SO i'm just looking for suggestions. My Price range would preferably be ~1000 USD because it's coming out of my parents pocket and I'd have to pay them back at some point. Some questions you guys might ask in the replies: Major: Pre-Med, so i'll be doing a lot of science classes. What are you looking to get out of this laptop: Something that could hopefully get me through all four years of college without a problem. Right now I have a MacBook Pro that I got starting high school and around Junior year it started shitting out on me, and has never worked the same. Uses: No real gaming, I have a rig but dont use it anymore and I'll be leaving it at my parents house while I'm away (Guess I just grew out of it ). Mostly writing papers and skypeing. Something that's fast, but won't break my back everywhere I go (trust me, I take my laptop everywhere). Need's to be able to handle all of the chrome tabs I keep open (I currently have about 40 open on this macbook rn and it's killing the speed) Some photo editing and light video editing here and there because do some photography and videography, but nothing that needs anything super jacked. Any specifications you guys recommend is helpful as well. I'll be ordering on amazon if I can't find it in local stores so try to keep that in mind as well (Unless the laptop is really good and has to be bought from the manufacturer directly). Thanks.
  13. What do you think about these motherboards: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/Fn7CmG/gigabyte-motherboard-gaz170hd3 https://pcpartpicker.com/product/qkX2FT/msi-motherboard-z170apro This one is a bit of sa stretch for my price but... https://pcpartpicker.com/product/rskwrH/gigabyte-motherboard-gaz170xgaming3
  14. Haha yah im upgrading to the 6600K Not worried about PSU or RAM or CPU or GPU at tis point, just need a good-semi cheap mobo that can overclock. I think im gonna stick to ATX tho
