  1. 2602 videos, as of today. I'm up to about 2250, after three weeks. It's worth it.
  2. Yeah, those validation lists are usually limited and made with a small number of components at launch and not updated with newer products. I wouldn't use them at all, they've never helped me.
  3. I upgraded my ultrabook from 4gb to 8gb a few years back. The original stick was samsung and the replacement was kingston. The speeds were both 2133mhz ddr3 and i've never had issues since. That's good, you can just buy a sodimm stick of the same speed and capacity and stick it in.
  4. Not silly at all. There's third party software for things like this. One in particular that I use is Classic Shell, check it out if you're interested.
  5. Your build is pretty good. All I can recommend is that you don't go with a 120mm radiator. Those things can be beaten by cheaper air coolers. So I'd look at either throwing a bit more cash on for the 240mm variant of the masterliquid or getting a really beefy air cooler for a similar price (which may end up more reliable in the end. Check out the tier list in my signature for ideas.
  6. 1050 comes to mind. The 75W from the PCI-E should be enough.
  7. That's great. 250GB will be fine, if a little tight. He should be able to fit about 3-5 average sized AAA titles on there. Check out the tier list in my signature. Anything in the top three tiers will be fine. However given that the cable management is a bit iffy in that case, he might consider going for a semi or fully modular PSU.
  8. No. It's about as good as it gets. There's a reason everybody on here uses it.
  9. The 7600k is on the older side of things right now, he might want to check out the Ryzen 1600 (or upcoming 2600), or the i5 8400. If he gets an R5 1600 he also saves money on not needing a cooler (a really good one comes stock with it). The spec-04 isn't great for cable management, and I'd honestly recommend something other than that, but I can understand the appeal, especially at that price point. He may find himself needing a fair bit more storage capacity than 500GB, but that is dependent on how many games he'll have installed at any given time, etc. Ideally if he wants an SSD he could look at a 250GB ssd and a 500GB HDD. That power supply is a lot more than he needs, he'd be fine with 500-550W of power. Other than that, no incompatibilities or problems, just alternatives that might be easier on his wallet and improve performance, etc.
  10. Actually, from what I understand it's the board partners who don't want to be caught with a warehouse full of gpus if cryptocurrencies crash. So no, Nvidia and AMD could pump them out, but no board parter wants to buy them at all. The unpredictability of cryptocurrencies is the root of the issue. If it was clear that cryptocurrency mining would be viable for say, the next five years, then the required cards would be produced, and prices would go down. The issue is that board partners don't want to order thousands of cards (which would fix prices) but then have the demand for them (miners) suddenly be reduced and then be left with all those cards on shelves, especially when new releases are coming soon (namely Volta around september). EDIT: Check out this video summary, it's a bit more concise: https://www.gamersnexus.net/industry/3211-what-do-manufacturers-think-of-mining-and-gpu-prices
  11. But what about people upgrading PCs who need just the GPU?
  12. he's gaming on a 1060 6GB in 1080p. Not many AAA titles hit above 100 fps with that, and if he upgrades in the future he might want a higher resolution so why splurge now? If he buys a higher resolution down the road, then he could invest in high refresh rate.
  13. I mean, what's more important? Speed or lag? Download speed doesn't affect gaming quality (I play fine on 1.8mbps broadband), but high ping does. How much did Powerline affect your speed? It may just be worth using it, even if it does sacrifice you some download speed.
  14. Then you have your answer. Dig around, check out ebay, gumtree, and craigslist.
  15. Check out gumtree. That's really all I can say, given the limited information we have. I've found cheap laptops with quad core i7s in them on gumtree a fair bit, it shouldn't be hard. Just don't expect you'll be able to game on a new laptop for 200-300 AUD
  16. What are you using it for? If you just want it for web browsing, word processing, etc then get a chromebook. They're exactly in your price range and you can get them at Officeworks, JB Hi-Fi, and other consumer electronics stores.
  17. So have tiki torches. I hear lemon scent is a favourite.
  18. The price of an ROG strix 1060 6gb just jumped another $50 AUD...

    When will this nightmare end?

  19. Guys, if you have pets, go give them a hug.

Their time with us is limited, and I had to put down my bird of 7 years today. Hardest thing I've ever done.

So yeah, go grab your pet and pat them, stroke them, hug them etc.

    1. Hiya!

      Hiya!

I have a cat persian flatnose but he's in my parent house now so i cant hug him.

      I miss him though.

We had him since he was a kitten now the old bugger is 5 years old.

      Sorry about ur bird.

  20. So a couple weeks ago we saw cooler master's new H500P mesh and premium H500M demonstrated by Cooler Master at CES, much to the delight of Gamers Nexus in particular. I watched the videos and read the articles, etc. but I couldn't seem to divine any information relating to release dates or schedules from them. Long story short, has anyone found anything regarding dates for the H500M's release? It's gorgeous and I'd love to use it in my upcoming build.
  21. If you've got a desktop computer and you have space in it (slots free), I'd recommend a wireless card. USB adapters (the affordable ones) usually lack antennas, and thus have poor coverage. Those that do have them are pricey. You can get a wireless card from TPLink or other manufacturers for 30-40 USD.
  22. I mean, 32GB RAM is overkill, but some people just want that. If you changed for 16 you might be able to afford a slightly larger SSD or a larger capacity PSU (see the link in my signature below). Also I'd recommend swapping the seagate for a WD Blue, they cost the same and are more reliable.
  23. Yeah. It's one of the top X370 boards on the market, paul's hardware made this video saying how great it was for ryzen:
  24. He means that if you're going to post such little information (or if there is none to be given, such a simple question), that you should put it in a status update rather than a post. Personally I disagree, you'll get a better answer from a post but remember to put more information or we really can't help you much.
