  1. Go as High as you can reasonably afford. Never skimp on the CPU in favor of a GPU, IF you keep your system for many years. keep this in mind, get the best CPU you can afford for later down the road.
  2. It'll run hotter & demand more power.
  3. well, time to get those hacking skills up! if you have no bank account, I don't know how you can buy a bitcoin.
  4. Since thats the case, my main guess is that the Q6600 is an ancient installation on Windows/whatever you have. I think the OS install sounds hosed, literally No hard drive can be that slow, and your network card shouldn't be that bad. I recommend giving your Q6600 a fresh installation of Windows... 4 cores on the Q6600 should be able to dominate a Pentium 4 if Premiere is a multi-threaded program.
  5. I'd recommend trying it yourself Nobody else has your specific computer setup to try an unnamed video editing software. I'd probably recommend try the Q6600 since you can just have it render for a long time, or getting a WIRED connection. That would be the real killer since Wired connections allow those of us with not great wifi to get very fast speeds, and they can fully utilize the speed of the HDD. Might want to find a multi-core exporting software too
  6. your links failed, I can't clock on them to find the laptop. Go for whichever one has a quad core, if they are both quad cores, then go for the best GPU.
  7. These are the specs you will probably need, or at least have to look for: A Dual core CPU is fine if he uses AutoCAD since it is single-threaded in drawing, not rendering. But you should be able to find quad cores in $650... maybe. Discrete GPU is a must!
  8. my single GTX 1070 can easily play most games at 144 FPS. Also, what is a raiser laptop?
  9. This is a stupid idea, what would be easy to fix the issue is to incorporate a text color inverter, or simply make all black text WHITE rather than punishing community members for not posting their text in a format that is compatible with something many(edit - Nearly all) people don't use.
  10. PCPartpicker! Its a lifesaver for the mistakes you've made! Also consider this: Do you want that CPU to stick with you forever, or do you want something more powerful like an i7? I recommend going as high as you can on the CPU because upgrading later, just wastes money for the user.
  11. you should buy seperate because the included PSUs are typically worse than or of the barely adequate variety. Buying separate lets you get a good PSU that you know won't die for a long time.
  12. You might be able to get away with the fans not even spinning at full load! Under load with my GTX 660 SLI setup, the fan never had to spin on the EVGA 850W G2. (so 140Wx2 TDP vs 180Wx2 of 1080)
  13. Logitech M570 is my current and probably favorite mouse.
  14. I tend to go by this rule ofr my 144hz monitor: If you can get 144 FPS, all the time, use Vysnc, it does not seem to give worse lag in practice and keeps the framerate steady.
  15. IE is a fantastic browser for what it does: Download other browsers
  16. keep in mind the Q6600 severly bottlenecked my GTX 660, without ever reaching 100% Skyrim is one example for it.
  17. My own Q6600 using some Zalman 110mm copper cooler reached 3.21 Ghz at 1.3V before I decided it was too warm, that was not the chip's limit using voltage and multiplier as its sole OC type.
  18. I keep mine on a publicly open forum post like this! Username: Week Password: QWERTY1234
  19. That product doesn't even exist. the i7-4950K. The closest named is the I7-4950HQ from a laptop...
  20. If it runs slowly, definitely look elsewhere. Linux is going to be your smallest bet and can work on almost all hardware out there.
  21. Unfortunately, its a DX10 card which means it won't be able to support modern DX11 games. My suggestion is to find something that at least supports DX11, like GTX 600 series which will also have basic DX12 support as stated by Nvidia.
  22. I have a G510, I need to find a mechanical keyboard with macro keys though.
  23. If its on carpet, I recommend pointing it up so that it draws air from the case.
