claytonno's Achievements

  1. Redundancy mainly, one pump stops working the other one will still be kicking, not to mention I wanted to achieve a decent flow rate, which looking now not that I have a flow meter the res' do not seem overly turbulent even with two pumps/res, also I wanted to fill up the space in the front half of the 900d and have it look cool
  2. Shoot, I know man I have no idea how to rotate them... they are fine on my computer but when i upload them everything goes all wonky
  3. Forum ID:claytonno Build Title: Red blood direct die overkill monster 900d modded etc Thread URL: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/362414-blood-loop-900ddelid-direct-diecasemods1560mm-rad-space-complete-finally/ Description: A build that I can truly cally my own, have only seen a couple of 900ds that managed this much rad space and I have never seen one configured quite like mine has been.
  4. Okay so this has been a long time coming and it has been in the works for months I finally got everything and was ready to put it together as a bit of a grad present to myself. The components havent changed from my old build log here: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/228906-corsair-900d-1560mm-rad-space-vanilla-build/but I have added a pump, delidded and resized the tubes added most aesthetic things to make it personally mine, also changed the routing of the loop. So here it is in it's completed form: So the log itself: The beginning: Modding the I-O to accomodate the top 480 in a reversed position I had to cut the back part off which was entirely plastic I needed to take out the rivets from HALF of the cd drive cage because I wanted to preserve the structural integrity of the motherboard tray. The bottom I had already cut out to help fit the 360 in the front from my initial build. I also wanted a drain system for such a mammoth machine, so I thought what better way than to use the front fill port on my RX480 radiator in the basement and make a tiny pass through which I can just let air into the top of the loop next time I want to drain it. Next I installed all the motherboard plates, midplates, rear panel plate and a custom plate I fabricated/plastidipped to cover the cd cage back half I then needed to make a tube go from the front of the case to the back across the motherboard tray which was achieved with some elbow fittings I had and a hole I cut into the cd cage. Next I installed the EK precisemount screws for direct die cooling and began the delid process(hammer/vice style) I applied coollaboratory liquid pro to the die, and to be honest I could'nt be happier with the results, running 4 Degrees delta T opposed to before when I was running closer to 7-8 delta T. I finished up the loop and it was ready to fill, for this I used ek ekooland blood red I then had 2 separate leaks and had to drain the loop once.... fortunately NEITHER of which happened to be in the basement or I might have just collapsed and cried at this point, although what words were coming out of my mouth were not pretty either. Both leaks were coming from the EK reservoir closest to the mobo. My only word of advice is use the extensions that come included with EK X-Res and X-RES top acetal reservoirs. not only will it improve the life of the threads on the reservoir when you disassemble/reassemble but it will also make a much tighter seal and prevent leaks. Once it is fully filled, with my pumps now hooked up to my fan controller for direct voltage control (kept at setting 2 once fully bled) here she is!
  5. http://m.imgur.com/a/8Gqey So quick update here is all of the parts I will be using for my build, the midplate and other plexi covers I got from coldzero are really quite nice I am impressed by their quality
  6. I have a midplate for my pc and the way my pumps will be mounted once its installed leaves no option to control the pumps via the speed control knobs. I will be controlling them on my fan controller 30w per channel so it can handle it the problem im concerned with is I purchased a pair of molex/tach to 3 pin fan cable, here is the cable linked, im kind of worried about the gauge as its lighter than the 18 awg that is on the pump molex cable, will this cable be okay to use? https://www.dazmode.com/store/product/dazmode_special_cable_-_molex_tach_to_3-pin_fan/
  7. So I initially made my build and posted it here with the majority of the parts I got less than half price off kijiji. I have already ordered all the parts and am now just waiting so I will be able to build. First I will be delidding my 4770k and applying coollaboratory liquid pro on the die and do direct mount with ek's precisemount screws. I have ordered a second d5 vario xres for quietness, redundancy (and to fill up the case a bit) as well I have ordered 250ml tubes for both reservoirs again for aesthetic purposes. I ordered a white dimmable led strip which I plan on hooking up to my fan controller to light up the case For drainage I did not have any system in place prior to this so I plan on using a plexi psu plate I ordered from coldzero, drilling a 3/4" hole in it and running a tube from the end of my basement 480 through the hole with a simple plug and screw cap on the end outside the case for easy drainage. Simple. I also ordered a matte black plexi midplate, rear hdd cover, motherboard backplate, and rear fan backplate to clean the aesthetics of my build, i will drill holes into the midplate accordingly for tubing runs, but wont be using bulkhead pass-through fittings. Once fully assembled I will fill the whole loop with EK ekooland blood red colour. Ill post pictures of the whole process when I get around to doing this in the next few weeks as another update post.

  9. This is what I thought but we must be getting pretty close with the latest hardware you would think no?
  10. So I am anticipating windows 10 to come out and I am curious how "convergent" it really will be, or is that still unknown? Most reading I do doesnt really give a good answer or seems pessimistic. Right now I am using a Sony Xperia Z ultra with android. Ever since my first smartphone I have disliked the lack of functionality that they all share. Ultimately I want an experience similar to that of windows desktop where I can install the same software and deal with any problems with a touch screen myself. I cannot be the only one who wants full desktop-like control and functionality on my phone, and id even jump ship for ubuntu phone but there seems to be little news about it.
  11. They're good fans, I got them second hand so am not sure which rpm they are I think they are on the higher end because they are pwm, but I definitely have to turn them down along with the ap15s to achieve silence
  12. Hi there so I decided to up from my R4 to a 900D and create a watercooling platform that would basically allow me to accomodate any current or future build of mine in complete silence, yes it is overkill but it was a fun build. Watercooling parts EK D5 Vario x-res 140 res/top combo EK-FC plexi 290x blocks and backplates EK Supremacy plexi cpu block Alphacool 90/45 Degree fittings Feser Straight fittings Bitspower 30 degree fittings XSPC RX480 Radiator X2 Alphacool Nexxxos ST30 240mm Radiator Alphacool Nexxxos ST30 360mm radiator Primochill Clear tubing 1/2 by 3/4 Some Leakproof Elbows in the basement Fans/Controller: 8x Gentle Typhoon Ap13s 3x Gentle Typhoon Ap15s 2x Noiseblocker ELoop Sunbeam Rheobus Extreme 6 channel fan controller modded, desoldered leds and replaced with red leds Corsair AF-140 Quiet edition Various Fan Cable Splitters Guts: i7 4770k 2X R9 290x 8GB mushkin ddr3 ram Gigabyte z97x gaming 5 motherboard Corsair AX1200i Kingston V300 128GB SSD Some Modding had to be done on the front of the case to accommodate the 360 but this was very light modding and only involved cutting out the bracket that goes across the bottom of the 5.25 bays. With the 30mm thick radiator I am still able to utilize the front fan filter on this case which i was very pleased about. I know there isn't much bling for such overkill but I really just wanted a simple clean red black theme with cooling and silence as the main priories. Later plans include creating a custom midplate to cover the basement with tubing holes, and lighting up the case with leds. I also plan on using some mayhems blood red dye or tharsis red coolant to match the build. I never put a drain system in I could see myself doing that in the future as well. 13. ok good to know, problem is I already installed it with tubing and all it isn't filled yet but it was a pain to install based on where it's located and I can't directly see or access the switch itself without removing it, I guess I could change the setting blindly. My picture you would assume is correctly set to setting 4 then?
  14. Okay that is what I thought, I saw a video where somebody's pump was set to 5 and they we're saying it was at 2, thank you for clarifying.
  15. I have a d5 vario and I am confused as to which direction the notch should be pointed for the speed control. http://m.imgur.com/AOu5qYZ this is my pump it is a lowara pump if that matters but does this mean it is on setting 4?
