  1. This is me whenever I look at this thread.
  2. That's actually insane lmao. Even more so than the fact this thread is still going like 5 whole years since It started..

Would always recommend you go for an LG monitor over Gigabyte but the M27Q should be fine if you get a decent panel and if it's cheaper than the LG.
  4. Not going to flat out say don't get the M27Q but I had it 2 years ago and had to RMA due to QA issues. On paper it sounds great but, idk. BGR pixel layout too, might be an issue for some. OP should look into buying something on the second-hand market. I was able to pick up a second GL850-b for just £250 a year or two ago almost new to go with the one I got new for 350 or so and I've had no issues with it whatsoever.
  5. does the asus prime b550 plus have built in wifi?
  6. Here's my list: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/vBzKDq The build revolves around the GPU which is probably going to be bottlenecked but oh well. I'm mainly looking for some advice on the CPU, Cooler and Motherboard as that's what what would make the most significant changes here. I can consider AMD but would appreciate a similar spec cpu and board as to not bottleneck further. I need a wifi capable board too.
  7. Just what I was given to work with, either i5 or i7. Think I've decided that custom built is going to be a bit too expensive though. Kind of locked into certain higher end parts with a 1070 so I'll look into some prebuilt's and suggest those. But the 12100 is a great choice thanks for suggesting it.
  8. As the title says, looking for something similar to the 10400 below £120 that will not bottleneck a 1070 unless the 10400 already bottlenecks? 10400 is really only a baseline, Looking to stick with i5 but if an i3 will cope well with a 1070 I am also open to that. Any suggestions welcome, must be Intel however.
  9. If there is a way to know how many pages worth of deleted comments there are, I would love to be privy to this information heh. You're telling me that since over a year ago this thread has only grown by 40 odd pages?
  10. I was attempting to transfer contacts/messages from a Nokia Lumia moments ago, before almost giving up I went to the store to look for third-party apps to see if they would do the trick only to find it had been shut down like 3 years ago (so it wasn't my internet).

My fondest memory of the Windows Phone OS was laughing at the fact that a friend who had one couldn't watch YouTube videos through the native app as it wasn't supported so he had to use whatever browser they had on there to do so.

Even on its way out Microsoft had to make things difficult.

  11. I watch unboxing vids of the exact same spec of whatever I've bought until the moment its in my hands.
  12. Couldn't agree more with the 24G2U. I was wary of the red accents as I thought it looked a bit ugly at first but it turned out to be one of the best monitors I've bought for the price. Having moved up to 1440p though the resolution on it is quite low and jarring to look at when using as a secondary display.
  13. Yeah the HDR10 is no more than a marketing tactic. I have yet to find a good use of it on my LG GL850-b.

  15. Today I received an old HP Pavilion from a distant family member to fix as it had been "really slow".

I feel like this is the first step in becoming the subject of the IT guy memes I've seen for years and I love it.

  16. Oh I've used the M27 before and while the inverted subpixel layout didn't affect me for the short period of time I had it, the uniformity of the panel certainly did. Was by far the worst monitor I've had for bleed, glow, etc. Entirely possible for LG monitors to be the same as I've learned on the forum but I'm somewhat led to believe it's less common.
  17. The LG is probably going to be a lot better than the Gigabyte that's been recommended here.
  18. If your frame rate is uncapped and you're getting 215 then buying an external monitor wouldn't magically immediately increase it to 240 nor would the difference be enough to warrant the price of buying additional hardware for most people. I don't reckon it's still an issue but about 5 years ago running external displays off a laptop would decrease performance in a few cases where the resolution was high enough.
  19. Maybe just try propping the laptop up on some books, it can help a lot. 5-8c drop could fix your issue. That R5 is probably worse than my dedicated laptop gpu from 2014 so think about whether it's worth it if you're experiencing thermal throttling while playing games like Genshin.
  20. Therefore the option to choose between both types would be greatly appreciated but I found my experience with the computer display market to be extremely onerous and It's probably unlikely.
  21. I haven't followed the market since buying my two LG GL850-b's around a year ago and I was about to recommend something similar to those as they look pretty good imo and would be an alright fit with your GPU until I saw how much 425CAD was in GBP. I'd suggest looking into the GL83A-B, possibly the Odyssey G5 and for sure the Q27G2U or Q27G2 as it may be outside of the Europe.
  22. I haven't seen a config of the Legion 5 with a glossy screen but I'd absolutely agree with you. My previous Lenovo was was a glossy 4k screen and It did look clearer than a matte display would but using it outside or under any direct light was practically a no go, not impossible, just not enjoyable. I used my Legion 5 on the countertop in the kitchen just last night while cooking and was amazed at how much better it looked. I personally like matte displays, the fact that they aren't a mirror of everything around you is nice but I do often wonder why we don't see more glossy monitors, I mean it seems like 90% of the market has matte coatings when I've heard you get a clearer picture without it.
  23. Maybe its something to do with RAM filling up? Looks like you're running games on integrated, perhaps it could be thermal throttling, could you share temps or look into how those affect your experience and report back?
