  1. VLC has a windows for ARM version in the windows store. Torrex is a torrent software that exist for ARM. Also in the windows store. There does not appear to be a whatsapp ARM app. Only web based one. ... Overall, unless the cost is heavily discounted, I would avoid an ARM based Windows computer.
  2. You're misinterpreting what I said there. You can still send texts(SMS) and multimedia (MMS) over iMessage without data. Always could. That was also about how things were years ago when every plans were a lot more expensive and we had very little data, before RCS even was a thing. It's about how things might change in the future now that data on mobile is more affordable, we might see a rise in use of third party apps like whatsapp for easier communication across devices, which does require an active internet connection to even work. Oh, you must not be from the same generation as me if you think calling is ever an option. And yes, it is relevant. Because you can't use Whatsapp to contact someone who doesn't use it. You can't use RCS to contact someone who doesn't have internet access (it would revert back to SMS, after some time... if it doesn't bug out). You can't use imessage to contact someone who use an android phone without having texting in your phone plan. What was my point exactly about data? All I said was that he can't reply with imessage since it uses data when you don't have texting enabled on your plan. Which means it cannot communicate with other messaging services like Google's Message or Samsung's Message apps because even though RCS uses data too, Apple to Android communication through iMessages get sent via SMS. Not Data. Honestly I'm not quite sure what you're fishing for here... All I said was my experience with a coworker who doesn't have texting in his phone plan and tried to explain how or why to you after you replied. If things work differently where you live, good for you. It does not in Canada and phone plans without texting, calling or data are still available for a lower price. Ideal for those who want to save money.
  3. Any BYOD plan usually lets you deselect texting if you want to pay less. Our phone plans here are not dirt cheap $5 for unlimited call, texting and data. Not just in the US, but in Canada, too. Why use alternatives when the default app work just fine ? SMS/MMS has always worked great before. Now it's imessage and facebook messenger. The issue with data not being unlimited and has been on the low side of the spectrum for a long time probably didn't help. While folks in Europe had super cheap plans with essentially unlimited data, us plebs in North America were stuck with $70 plans that included maybe 5GB of data. Not everybody was going to pay that. Certainly not older folks. Which ruled out apps like Whatsapp. This might change in the future, especially now that phone plans are somewhat dropping in prices (20GB, unlimited texting and calls is around $29 CAD these days. Still a lot more than what you'd pay in Europe for an equivalent plan though) Yes, he can receive texts. He can't reply though. But, with imessage, he can receive and reply with no issues, since it uses data. Just like RCS. Which Apple refuses to bridge. This makes it an issue. It most certainly is and is 100% being enabled by Apple's refusal to play nice with anybody.
  4. I did. They downgraded my license after they made this change. Just because you can change your hardware, doesn't mean much when they can't change your license at any point.
  5. My youngest coworker exclusively uses imessage. So much so his phone plan doesn't even have texting. We can't even communicate with the guy when we need to, unless we ask the other guy with an iphone (and a proper phone plan) to send him a message to ask if he's available for another task... If apple stopped being buttholes about it and allowed RCS to communicate with iMessage, that'd be great. Also, I wondered how this thread had 3 pages already. I see it's just the usual arguing of a handful of members going back and forth not understanding each other's position, nitpicking things.
  6. Yeah, I ran into had that issue. But, it didn't "deactivate" it when I went to do a clean install of Windows 10 and then tried Windows 11 afterward. I've had a Pro license upgrading from a retail copy of Windows 7 Ultimate (cost me nearly $400 CAD way back then) for years, through multiple clean installs. They downgraded it to Home. Weird thing though, is if I upgraded to Windows 11 from Windows 10 pro, it gave me a windows 11 pro license... But if I tried to do a clean install, I could only activate Home. I tested it out by restoring full OS backups a few times. So.... I just went and bought a cheap $10 oem key on a shady site for clean installs.
  7. Additional help on the subject: https://www.makeuseof.com/moisture-detected-warning-samsung-fix/
  8. Was your phone exposed to water? The drop icon is because the phone detected moisture in the charging port. If you have compressed air, blow it in the port. Then you have to wait. Because even if it's dry, it goes on a timer before it charging is enabled again. Very unlikely that your phone was "hacked".
  9. I know right?! I remember back in the late 90s the computers at school used that software as well. They've been around. But it works.
  10. If you're afraid of people downloading and potentially infecting the computers, you could also install something like faronics' "Deep Freeze". Any modification will need to be approved, nothing can be installed. Upon reboot, everything is back to how you had set it up. Virus free and all. I believe this cost about $56 per 1 year license. That coupled with a few other things like Download Restriction, should set you up just fine. As long as you pre-download all the games they are allowed to play anyway. You can also try looking into BrowseControl which provides download restriction and more. Another $50 per license per year or something like that. Both Deep Freeze and BrowseControl offer free trials for you to try out on a test computer before going all in. Do make sure none of the computers open to public are on "administrator" accounts. They need to be on plain "user" accounts. Just that alone should prevent them from installing most things.
  11. If you're the owner of an internet cafe, you would need a proper IT admin to work for you instead of half assing it yourself. You need to disable things with group policies and what not. https://chromeenterprise.google/policies/?policy=DownloadRestrictions But just download restrictions for chrome... You can find the key for it in the Windows Registry https://www.webnots.com/how-to-block-downloads-in-google-chrome/
  12. If nothing is broken... Why try to fix it? Just because someone else might have issues, doesn't mean YOU will have them. Don't worry about it. You know it's a potential issue, if anything does happen, at least you know about it.
  13. My coworker still uses a broken cup even though the handle broke and there's now a gaping hole on the outside of it where the handle used to attach. A cup similar to this one : He just put a piece of tape over the hole. Now it's a cup he gets to hold with his hands instead of with a handle... People will use whatever they can as long as the core functionality doesn't change. Can it hold liquid? Yes? Keep using it then. edit : just realized the forum apparently didn't accept copy/pasting of the images... even though it shows while editing once posted, it's gone. Damn it. Fixed the image.
  14. that's a thing? I've had two gamepass trials and have used EA access with it, and never got banned for it... I wonder if it's platform dependant. I was exclusively on PC. No console. Did everything through the xbox app. Ah but then again, I also went and cancelled my trial before it ended. Maybe that's a possibility. Like if you don't stop the trial, you get enrolled in the full thing. But if you don't have a linked credit card, it might not work, which sends your account in the payment evasion ? All speculation on how bad EA can be.
  15. What exactly do you mean by "banned" ? You mean you're banned from using EA services at all ? Like you can't use the store or play your other games? Or banned only from Battlefield? Are you actually banned or suspended? In any case, there's nothing we can do. LTT forum members are not affiliated with EA (obviously). But if you're banned, it means they found something that you did to be bad. Cut your losses and move on to a better game. Preferably outside of EA's trash platform. https://help.ea.com/en/help/account/information-about-locked-or-banned-or-suspended-accounts/
  16. Didn't get a notification. It just changed by itself. As it always does.
  17. Depends on your budget. AM4 with the 5800x3d would be a cheaper upgrade, since you would only need a cheap b450 motherboard and the CPU. Could ever get a used motherboard and potentially a used CPU as well. AM5 would require you to buy new RAM as well.
  18. Sounds to me like you need to charge back those "late fees" and if they complain, threaten them with small claim court.
  19. Painful. It was back when cases had sharp edges everywhere.
  20. Stopped using it 3 months ago. Replaced it with Reddit... Stopped using Reddit a few days ago. The endless scrolling for quick content is everywhere these days and so easy to fall into when bored. Be it youtube shorts, instagram, twitter or some other social media... It's all cancer for your sanity. That said, related to this topic... It's just the US fear mongering as usual. They are just mad they aren't the ones doing the spying for once.
  21. Call Planet Fitness and demand all these late fees back. They have auto payment on your card, this is 100% on them. Charging late payment for this when it's on them to process the charge earlier could even be class action lawsuit worthy if they do this to other people. This type of awful practice is "common" in gyms, unfortunately.
  22. https://linusmediagroup.com/contact-us That's how you reach out first to discuss what you want with them. Do NOT under any circumstances just show up to their place of work without an appointment. If they never reply to you... don't be surprised or mad and understand they are not interested in whatever you want with them.
  23. What's with the influx of quick to anger people jumping to conclusion about companies lately... You want to be mad, but don't want their help because their solution to help would somewhat inconvenience you? Please realize that they don't have the drive in front of them, they don't see the files. To them, you just sound crazy person demanding them to send a flashdrive without providing actual physical proof. They are supposed to take your words for it? Are you just looking to vent or something? It's a generic flash drive branded with their logo. Even assuming it was used and had random files on it... Delete the file and move on with your life. Don't be expecting top tier performances from a generic flash drive.
  24. Just found out Akira Toriyama has passed away at the age of 68...
