  1. We won't get what we really want until the micro LED tech matures and can be put into smaller screens; Samsungs "Wall" shows as much, there is no bezel to speak of, but thats a few years away and it will not be cheap much less cheap at small screen sizes
  2. I won't expect this kind of subtlety to be understood here, but I hope you all realize just how militant DISNEY is in licensing and what they can or cannot allow when it comes to portrayals of their content. EA knows better than to throw Disney under the bus, Disney is happy to let EA take all the heat and keep their partnership going. As always, blinded rage over one party without wanting to know of the involvement of any other facet of the issue.
  3. Its not surprising that a forum of pre-teens doesn't appreciate the complex and outright terrifying power dynamics in a workplace that could lead to this kind of situation, creating a toxic environment and souring people against one another.
  4. Max-Q is the new Mobile chip, without actually using the mobile moniker. I can see why, slim devices and such. I already think that if you truly care about having meaningful gaming and other workload performance, the 1060 is as low as you should settle for in a laptop.
  5. Apple is anti consumer and has the worst customer service? Wat? Is OP high? Those guidelines are wholly reasonable and unremarkable, theyre very common sense with no surprises. What the hell is this OP on?
  6. Sonys own damn fault. It doesn't matter how robust the IP rating is, its a consumer good and a phone; and most consumers are STUPID. They will test your limits intentionally or otherwise. My 7+ has successfully survived 5 foot deep pools AND salty oceans. Do I seriously think Id be covered if it went wrong? Nope. Its peace of mind, or for idiots like me it lets me do a little bit more. The days I sincerely think I need it near open water, I shove it into a Lifeproof case, or just get my actual waterproof camera rig with me. And even those multi thousand dollar rigs for DSLRs can go hilariously wrong; I just don't get why Sony would even advertise any aspect of the water'proof' nature of their devices.
  7. My 2014? I had a TB2 array sitting at home, constant use plus the ability to daisy chain off TB2, one cable solution was fantastic. On my USB-C laptop? Yea, I have an eGPU I plug into both at work and at home, I have multiple USB-C drives for it. Mostly anything I plug into my current laptop is USB-C, if I even have to plug things in. The ability to have one port to really handle anything going forward, its nice. And on products that are luxury and not bargain basement, it makes sense to include the port that the industry decided on having as the step forward.
  8. Its fair use. YouTube is not a network, theres really nothing you can do to prevent people from using your footage elsewhere. Its also the BBC. State funded pockets across the pond, good luck have fun trying to sue them for anything if you really wanted to take it that far. This is the BBC that has enough bankroll that their shows are allowed to shit over any and all companies because they don't need the ad money. In the hilarious world that LTT tried to sue BBC, BBC would find cause to countersue back so hard, Linus would be saying God save the Queen on the hour every hour while paying off the legal bills much less any damages for harassing the BBC...
  9. Not including USB-C in any of their 2017 launches was a pathetic mistake. Even the Studio could've afforded some TB3 USB-C ports, just like Apple has done with the iMac, but nope. MS thinks its better to keep proprietary Surface Connect and make you use hubs and docks and what not. Apple is the one who said "lol, USB-C and TB3, have a nice life". We're in a word where APPLE ditched all their proprietary computer ports and embraced a universal standard and MS is the one sticking to a proprietary connector. FFS, MS even kept mDP around. WHYYY. USB-C with displayport out would've been nice. I still can't understand why they didn't give ONE TB3 USB-C port. For what these devices cost in Canada, a couple grand on a device with 2014 grade ports is pathetic. Actually that's insulting to 2014 devices. My 2014 laptop has two TB2 ports so MS can't even meet the bare minimums there. It doesn't make sense to me anymore. These aren't 350 dollar pieces of disposable trash, these are devices that go straight into the premium segment of the market yet are equipped like ass. Once again, Even Apple, across the board, and sure forcing USB-C might suck, but at least ehy committed to it and are pushing the market to get with the program.
  10. Lol how long should Apple be expected to keep their devices up to date? What magical and arbitrary number would make you happy? Because people like you will just find another thing to bitch about. Apple known for forced obsolescence? What? The company that supports its devices as long as they reasonably can, especially considering the tangible hardware requirements as the software grows year by year? Hell, even when their desktops and laptops lose "official" support there's nothing stopping you from slapping the newest OSX on older hardware; just dont expect the greatest time or compatibility. I'm sorry you think 5 years of up to date, official support isn't enough for a phone.
  11. Forced obsolescence? Its 5 year old hardware, not using a 64 bit CPU. Its time has come, move on. Remind me again, how many 5 year old Android devices got 5 OS updates straight from Google or their manufacturer. Ill wait.
  12. AMD needs all the meme points they can generate from friendly content creators; their share prices and market stance are shit and their margins are abysmal. Consumers love gettig things for cheap but how long can AMD sustain giving up dozens of percentage in margin just to get some goodwill? That margin is what let's them invest back in RD. People love to shitpost about how Intel doesn't do anything. Intel spends in RD what AMD will never make as a company. Billions upon billions, not including the billions they spend on bringing modern fabs online. I mean, the "lazy" attitude is disgusting. Intel spent their way to realize that Moore was full of shit, that silicon has reached its end, and efficiency is the only thing they can get actual increases out of until the next fancy process using graphene shows up. Intel hasn't been sitting pretty, they've been stonewalled by physics.
  13. LOL Its an iPhone 7+ Never settle...for original design
  14. Okay but what did Linus really say? Nothing new, same old same old about how Intel isn't doing anything for enthusiasts, Intel isn't doing enough, Intel has a branding problem; etc etc And the knee jerking that followed out of this forum. Intel is doomed. Intel doesn't know what they are doing. Intel can't compete. Intel will die off. Intel should be afraid. Jesus, it was like stepping into the AMD subreddit. I don't stock market and company health well, but I think Intel is fine. I think AMD has a lot to do to catch up in being a valid and stable company. I think Intels issues are valid, but not worth an overdramatic walk and talk. I think the Internet places importance to things that really, really don't mean anything but in their ignorance and arrogance...sigh.
  15. Louis is biased and also a little pious. His style of repairs and the equipment he himself has to use exceed the capability of most repair shops. He expects Apple, and brands like Apple, to stock their retail stores with the equipment required to perform the precision board repair that he does. He in fact seems to argue against the miniaturization and advancement in design that going smaller allows; his livelihood depends on things being replaceable and repairable; that's fine but why should ANY company adjust their business to accommodate the likes of him? Why should any company have to give up schematics and full on manuals to any shop? I agree that Apple should make their parts catalogue open to order from if you so chose, let a customer buy their own motherboard or screen or camera module and let any shop access such things that let them repair. but why should Apple or any company hand over wiring diagrams and schematics and anything else? Do we then expect Apple to offer up the custom DMG Mori machines they use in manufacturing as well? where do you draw the line? I agree that a customer should have reasonable access to parts and the ability to repair. I also agree that companies will advance and if that makes repairs harder if not impossible, so be it. That's progress and why should we protect an industry and its jobs because the landscape has shifted?
