  1. If you insist on intel, you should get a pentium g4560 instead because it's essentially identical to the i3 but cheaper. AMD is definitely not unstable (or atleast not any more than intel) so I think you're just getting bad luck, but if your mother just wants intel for piece of mind then i won't argue
  2. Looked at a few benchmarks of 7700k vs 8600k and they seemed to perform near identically in gaming. Coffee lake is probably the best bet if you can get it
  3. Oh, thought you were making a "use case" pun. Because the decision between ryzen and intel is really more "is your use case gaming? pick intel. Do you do other things as well? Ryzen is often better value". You should check the size of the motherboard though, OP, because your current mobo is micro-atx. make sure your case supports larger sizes, or buy an m-atx mobo
  4. I think you should get the CPU and mobo and then get a cheap, decent cooler like a hyper 212.
  5. The issue here is that the i5 8600k probably throttles with the stock cooler (meaning you cant do option one) and there is no point buying an aio for a non overclockable cpu and motherboard.
  6. It wouldn't bottleneck, but a Ryzen 3 would be a better choice in most cases. Any reason you used an old dual core i3 instead?

  8. Nice one getting it working, i didn't really tell you what to do except "linux live usb". Also if you got that vsdfimps.sys file then submit it to virustotal and malwarebytes, etc. Help them get the virus it came from cause it seems new.
