I could've sworn that this college was pink and blue, but my memory could be failing me. It wasn't a particularly pleasant part of my life.
That was where my mom went to college before she got accepted to UCSF.
And right next to the college was.
A grade school that had teachers who liked to treat me like a criminal and lock me in an isolated room for hours every day.
Here's the map.
I guess that I'm having unpleasant childhood memories at the moment.
-
Republican state making you feel terrible? Sounds about right.
-
@ARikozuM I was far too young to understand politics.
The unpleasant memories was primarly from having an abusive father who was able to weaponize child protective services. Or were they called department of children and families in Florida?
-
No idea. I moved here 2015. I know that NJ has DYFS (Department of Youth and Family Service).
-
@ARikozuM It's called child protective services in California.
No idea about Oregon, people love to make false complaints about my disabled brother to get back at us.
-
Because I'm too nice sometimes.
I may have already said this, but I'll say it again.
There was a faimly who had a baby with a medical condition, me and my mom lwt the faimly stay at our property for them to get their shit together.
While at the property the mother refused to take her baby to the doctor (the baby had a hole in his heart and was on immunosuppressants) while making demands to accommodate her baby.
She wanted us to remove all of the cats because she stated that they were a health risk to her baby, demanded that she geo one of the best rooms, and other shit.
Meanwhile her baby's health continued to deteriorate, so I told her that she either take her baby to the doctor, or I'm calling protective services.
Turns out that she then made a false call about my little brother, so we decided to bring the protective services worker to her baby, which made her freak out.
She then accused my mom of assaulting her and me of sexually harassing her.
Then we just kicked her out on the street, but then we got a call from the protective services worker saying that they got a 911 call with someone who was stating that she was my mom and that I had a gun and was acting crazy.
The protective services worker prevented my ass from being swatted, but yeah.
Moral of the story? Don't help anyone, yet I continue to do so.
-
@Schnoz It doesn't really help, but thanks for trying, it means a lot.
I would like to visit these places in person again, I think that it would give some form of closure.
And meeting @ARikozuM would be nice. Gonna go during hurricane season, and while in the middle of a hurricane I'm gonna pound on his door, and say while soaking wet "heard you were talking shit, like I wouldn't know".
And then the police will be called.
Also, let's just take a moment to appreciate how fucking stupid Jeb Bush is.
Before hurricane Katrina hit, he said "don't worry about stocking up on gas, we have plenty" and the hurricane cut the power.
Yeah, how are you supposed to pump the gas without electricity you dumb shit?
-
Most of our state politicians are fucking cowards. Rick Scott let the state when Irene (or was it Michael) hit and then came back a week later and was like "Florida is doing fine considering the danger we just faced". FUCK OFF!
There was a bill in St. Pete to restrict plastic straws from being given at restaurants (the people and small restaurants wanted it) and the hall shot it down.
@Skanky Sylveon While I hate getting hurt when help isn't paid back, I would not stop trying to help. There's more to it than my own need or desires. It's something that I *hope* gets carried forward.
-
@Skanky Sylveon Don't encroach on my 5th, bro.
SpoilerAll of it.
SpoilerJust Jeb being dumb and you arriving wet.

While I understand that, and that's probably why I still help others, it can be demotivating when someone tries to swat me because I didn't let them walk all over me.

That made me laugh actually, how pathetic, a true leader would stay and assist others.

Change the straws to PLA, problem solved.
Or you know, actually recycle the plastic straws, it's typically some form of PET, which is braindead easy to recycle.
But most people that talk shit about plastic doesn't know shit about the actual material.
-
@ARikozuM I sense hostility, have a picture of captain planet to help calm you down.
-
He's worse!
-
Does this mean that fluttershy is partnering up with captain planet?
THAT MAKES TOO MUCH SENSE!
Spoiler@ARikozuM You do realize that PLA is biodegrbiodegrplant by product, right?
-
I know that PLA is polylactic acid, but I think companies will force a higher price just because "muh environment".
-
@ARikozuM Well, that's where competition would hopefully come in play, but you know companies and their monopolies.
PLA is a bit cheaper then just about any other plastic when it comes to 3D printers, so there would be some evidence to call them out on the price hike, but yeah, I wouldn't be surprised.
Also,
Eat shit bitch, copper >>>>>>> stainless steel.
Captain planet needs all of our help!
-
Stainless steel? I use silver straws for my yerba mate.
-
@ARikozuM So you're a ritch bitch?
-
Mostly? They were hand-me-downs from my grandfather's huge collection of gourds, straws, and other silver stuff.
-
@ARikozuM The sloppy seconds neko girl!
-
Silver is a biocidal metal, so they held on very well considering four decades of no use.
-
@ARikozuM You're telling that to someone who sells colloidal silver...
I've heard that copper is also biocidal, but to a much lesser extent.
-
Copper interferes with the ability to move electrons around. Trace amounts are necessary to prevent that from happening, but Cu is necessary for some bacteria.
-
@ARikozuM Aren't trace amounts of copper needed for humans as well.
