  1. Backup's of backup's are good too, just in case. You don't want to realize that sync was off after the fact.
  2. Does this happen all the time or only in one specific game? On your graphics card manufacturer's website for your gpu, check to make sure your running the latest vBIOS for your graphics card. The only other thing I can think of is the motherboard BIOS, but I'm unsure that would have an effect on the GPU. The good news is if it turns out to be a GPU-related issue, it should still be covered under warranty (as you said it was purchased Oct. 2020).
  3. Following up on SlashedM's suggestion, if you right click on the drive and select properties and then security does it show a check mark next to "write"?
  4. I would try to restart chrome first by killing it with task manager. If that doesn't work, try a system restart. If neither of those work I would just try to update chrome first or re-install it. Edit: Make sure your passwords are saved before you re-install chrome! you can export them as a csv file in chrome settings.
  5. In the BIOS did you check to see if any of the SATA ports are disabled? You can also try to see if the ssd was just formatted bad for some reason. If you have a second computer or a hard drive dock you can try to format it as exFAT and see if your computer will recognize it. After, you can re-format it into your desired file system.
  6. Wouldn't you think if they put all the effort into making a fast access point they would put in a faster ethernet controller? I love Ubiquiti gear, but it doesn't make sense to buy these because the Netgear access points are the same price with 2.5 GbE as opposed to 1 GbE.
  7. On the Ubiquiti page for the "UniFi 6 Long-Range Access Point", it says "It delivers an aggregate radio rate of up to 3.0 Gbps with 5 GHz". Then if you go into the description of the access point, it says the PoE port is "1 Gbps Ethernet RJ45". How can a 1GbE port support 3 Gig? That makes no sense. If you look at the new Access points from Netgear, you'll see that the PoE port is now 2.5 GbE. That is what I was expecting the Ubiquiti AP's to have too.
  8. I am looking for a 10Gb SFP NIC for my HPE ProLiant DL380 G9 Sever that I run FreeNAS on. I would like to be under $50. What is the best option that is compatible with both the server and FreeNAS? Used is preferred at this price point.
  9. DDR3. I was thinking SSD too but many people seem conflicted haha
  10. Recently I decided to help some underprivileged kids that didn't have access to computers. I am donating 3 2012 MacBook Pro's to kids in my community and am looking to upgrade them before I send them out. I was wondering if between the RAM and replacing the HDD with an SSD which would be the better upgrade? HDD --> SSD 4GB RAM --> 8GB RAM Let me know. Thanks for everyone's help!
  11. Ok, I found a video to make custom fan curves so I think that I can fix the loud fan issues on the Dell PowerEdge. Are the HP ProLiant's any good? @Radium_Angel @SupaKomputa
  12. Oh yea even at idle that is too loud def going with an alt. Option. EDIT: Oh wait that’s an r720 my server rack is 56 db atm and I would like it to stay around that mark What specs do you guys reccommend? CPU: 4-cores? RAM: 16GB?
  13. My server rack is in my office so I’d prefer for it to be on the quieter side. I would like 100MB/s+ speeds at least. I have a Dell PowerConnect 5548 (with 2x 10 Gig SFP+ ports). I’ll use one of the 10-gig ports for this server.
  14. I need it to be rack mountable or at least fit in a rack mount case. Do you think just make a pc in a rack mount case? What specs to you recommended?
  15. I want to build a NAS for just basic home use. I have about 11 500GB WD HDD's (not NAS drives) laying around so I would like to have a NAS with at least 8 bays (3 spares). I have a drive large enough to make a backup of the entire NAS. I plan to use the NAS for pictures, videos, movies and computer backups, as well as my game library backup. (about 2TB worth of data). I would like decent transfer speeds to it so maybe an SSD cache or RAM Disk? I would like to use FreeNAS because its free, unless anyone else has any better OS ideas. Price point, I would like to be under $250 max I was thinking a Dell PowerEdge r520?
  16. I bought the one that didn't have excessive bends because of the difference in delivery times. The one that was "coiled" was coming in a week where as the other one wasn't expected until January.
  17. Is there a difference between these two SFP+ cables? One has a red pcb and the other has a green pcb, but they have the same model number. Is there any reason I should choose one over the other? I noticed one is bent and the other is circular, not sure if bending the cable like that affects it at all. https://www.ebay.com/itm/143755738832 https://www.ebay.com/itm/324098702362
  18. Hi all, so basically what's happening is the follows: Here are my system specs: Ryzen 5 3600 16GB G.Skill DDR4 3600 ASRock RX 5700XT (the Challanger D one) Intel 660p (boot drive) Samsung 860 EVO MSI B450 Tomahawk MAX Corsair RMx 750w For monitors I have an MSI Optix G24C (thats the primary display) and an LG Ultrawide (this is the secondary display) Now onto the issue: When my computer was still functional I got an error about "USB device is not functional" or something like that. All the front USB Ports on my computer where non-functioning, so I thought I might as well restart the thing since it hadn't been restarted in a while. When I restarted my computer I got no BIOS Splash Screen, no Windows Startup, nothing on the MAIN Display. It was just a blank screen, although the monitor was on. The secondary display was in standby mode, so the graphics card wasn't even detecting it. So I thought maybe it could be a dead graphics card, so I took apart another system in my house and took the RX 570 graphics card out of it and then put it in my system. It turned on with no issues. So I thought that it must certainly be the GPU then, so I put it in the other system to double check and the graphics card was working. I ran GeekBench 5 tests on the graphics card and it didn't crash, it was stable. It was however making sounds like its making electrical noise, but it was making those noises since I got it. I also noticed that when I reboot my computer with the other graphics card in it that the motherboard color keeps resetting to white and then changing back, but it is set to red and it never went back to white when I rebooted it before. I am thinking it could be a motherboard issue but I'm really not sure what could be wrong at this point. Also when I first got the system it was unstable until a firmware update came out for the motherboard. The ram kept causing the system to crash because I had to turn on A-XMP to get the 3600MHz speed. Should I try putting the original graphics card back in my main system again and see what happens? All my PC Parts are still under warranty as I built it last December, but some of the parts the warranty is about to expire (1-yr warranty period) so if I need to RMA anything lmk. Also another issue when my computer was working with the main graphics card was if the display went to sleep and I hit a key on the keyboard to turn it back on, only the main display would turn back on, the secondary display would either go to sleep or would run at the wrong resolution requiring me to put it into sleep and then wake it back up (stupid AMD Drivers), I'm still having this issue, but not with the RX 570 installed.
  19. Ok, I have two Mac mini's that I could potentially use -2012 - Quad Core i7 - 16GB RAM -2014 - Dual Core i5 - 4GB RAM I can use either, but I would think the 2014 would be more power efficient
  20. There would probably be a maximum of 6-8 users at once (If I let non-immediate family members watch our movies too). I have a mac mini that I will connect an external 12TB HDD to make a copy of all the data on the NAS (In case of drive failure or accidental deletion). What sort of script or program would I need to run on the mini to automatically make a backup every time a new file is detected?
  21. @Electronics Wizardy Plans just changed. I worked at a tech company over the summer and they just gave me 8 of the same drives so now I am free to use whatever software I want. I would like to use FreeNAS since its free, but I also want to be able to run PLEX on the same server. How can I share the server's hardware without using UNRaid? It looks like I am getting a Dell PowerEdge r720 (the 12-bay one). I am using 3.5" drives so I can't use the 720XD anymore. I will have 4 drive bays left which I will populate with higher capacity drives for the PLEX Server since that will be what all our pictures and movies are on and not the NAS. Do you think an SSD cache is necessary, or is it better to have more RAM for something like a RAM disk? For the PLEX software I will have the PLEX Pass so should I stick in a gpu too for hardware encoding? Can I share 1 10-Gig NIC between the two virtual servers?
  22. I don't think so. Your computer might not have that then. I would try contacting Dell. I know its a hassle but at least they can tell you specifically what to do on that laptop. EDIT: Wait, you can just reset the BIOS, assuming you don't have any special over-clocking or anything changed. Then try your USB Drive again.
