    My thoughts
This makes for grim news for us here in the uk as we could be looking not just losing box.co.uk (where i got parts for my current PC ) but potentially CCL and that makes knowing where to get pc parts from as on some occations CCL and Box ended up being the cheapest place to get the latest CPU or gpu

    This needs to stop!

What the community did for the past two days was attrocious and Steve should take accountability for the toxicity of the mob community that he engaged. Empty assumptions, threats, what ifs. What happened deformed the reality and people quickly forgot to be kind to each other. In recent times, the world of online content creation has significantly evolved, giving rise to numerous influencers who hold substantial power to shape public opinion. Steve from GamersNexus and LinusTechTips are two prominent figures in the tech and gaming community. While discussions, debates, and critiques are integral to a healthy online ecosystem, there are instances when the line between constructive criticism and toxicity becomes blurred.
Content creators hold a considerable influence over their audiences. They have the ability to shape perceptions, introduce new ideas, and drive conversations within their communities. The dynamics of this influence are complex, as creators are responsible for maintaining an ethical balance between sharing their opinions and encouraging healthy discussions. However, this influence can sometimes result in unintended consequences, such as the toxic behavior within our communities.
LinusTechTips has faced backlash on several occasions due to controversies related to their content, product reviews, or business practices. These instances have sparked heated discussions within the community, with opinions ranging from constructive criticism to outright rage. While healthy debates are essential for any community's growth, the concern arises when discussions devolve into personal attacks, harassment, or bullying.
Steve Burke, the host of GamersNexus, is known for his in-depth analysis and critical evaluation of tech products. His content often investigates technical aspects and presents a thorough evaluation of tech, naturally growing a dedicated following fan base. However, there have been instances where Steve's criticisms have been interpreted and overly harsh or abrasive towards some members of the community.
While Steve's critiques may be rooted in his passion for accurate analysis, they should not support toxic behavior among his followers. If his criticisms lead to his audience engaging in harassment or bullying towards LinusTechTips and its supporters, then he should be held accountable for contributing to the toxicity within the community.
Content creators have a significant ethical responsibility towards their audience and the communities they lead. While creators have the right to express their opinions, they must be mindful of the potential consequences of their words. Encouraging respectful discourse and discouraging toxic behavior should be a priority for any content creator, regardless of their personal opinions.
The controversy surrounding the LinusTechTips fracas and Steve's involvement highlights the potential impact of influential figures on the community's behavior. While Steve's critiques may have been intended as constructive criticism, the line between critical analysis and engaging toxicity is a fine one, as the past two days showed. As such, Steve should recognize his ethical responsibility in promoting a healthy online environment and be prepared to be held accountable for any unintended negative consequences that their actions might bring out within their communities.
What started as a criticism of content quickly escalated into personal attacks against individuals. The tech community more often than not showed amazing resilience and cerebral takes on various topics, but this incident showcased how disagreements can quickly digress into attacks on character rather than focusing on the issues at hand. While criticism can be constructive, the response to Steve's callout often disregarded nuanced discussions. Instead, it fueled a wave of toxicity, overshadowing the potential for meaningful debates on the controversy. The tech community is not immune to herd mentality, where individuals adopt opinions en masse without critical evaluation. Steve's callout, rather than encouraging thoughtful reflection, led to a rapid alignment of opinions without a thorough understanding of the situation. Steve's callout on LinusTechTips' controversy acted as a catalyst, sparking an effervescent wave of opinions that quickly escalated into a display of tribalism. The tech community sadly showcased a troubling tendency to polarize when confronted with different perspectives. The callout exacerbated this trend forgeting its main focus, with followers rallying behind Steve and vehemently opposing facts or lack thereof context. The resulting tribalism stifled rational debate and replaced it with an 'us versus them' mentality, undermining the very essence of a thriving community.
In conclusion, both Linus and Steve, like any content creators, made mistakes in their response to this backlash. By prioritizing open communication, respectful engagement, and a willingness to learn from criticism, they can help create a healthier and more constructive online environment for their followers.

Be kind to yourself and others!

I don't think that a mere factual statement makes him a part of the drama that is mainly propagated by Linus himself. It simply is no proper way of using this sort of tool, which obviously is not clear to LTT yet.

For the love of God @LinusTech, at least have the courage to say you messed up. Straight up LYING about Billet is beyond sad. I have lost all faith this is even reversible. Seriously. Stepping down is the least you can do at this point.

I watched the Billet Labs video and the WAN Show response when they came out, and they both left a really bad taste in my mouth.

@LinusTech I know you're going to be flooded with replies and probably won't be able read them all, but I sincerely hope you can read this one.  Please try to understand and internalize why your viewers are so disappointed by this news.  Try to realize that this truly is a big deal.  Not just a communication breakdown or looking at things from the wrong perspective.

First, Adam clearly (and rightly) wanted to redo the tests, and you just brushed it off as a waste of time.  Like, an employee told you they wanted to redo a video correctly, and you told them no.  How can you possibly see that as an acceptable response to the situation?  Especially when you've gone through significant branding effort to position yourselves as THE place to go for accurate testing and reviews.  And then on TOP of that, you think it's acceptable to MAKE MONEY off of a video that you KNOW is inaccurate and could even possibly cause another company to LOSE MONEY because of the bad review, which, again, you know is not accurate.

Then to make things even worse, you go on the WAN show and just say, "We can't be accurate sometimes.  That costs more money."  Like, what?  That statement is completely incompatible with your supposed goal of accuracy with the labs, and is completely antithetical to the large amounts of money you've spent on the labs.  Luke was doing all he could to get you to walk that statement back, but you just doubled down, still unaware of how grave of a mistake you had made.

Also, you can spend millions of dollars on lab equipment, real estate, and personnel, for what at this point is still an open-ended goal which you don't even know how you're going to monetize yet, but you can't spend $1,000 of wages to accurately portray a product on your main channel?  A video that you know you will actually make money on, unlike the labs effort.  It just doesn't make sense.

Your response has also been very lackluster.  You're still completely missing the point.  You position yourself as being a good guy in the industry.  You say you're trying your best to help the consumer, while also fostering the tech industry as a whole, pushing back against bad practices of industry giants, while trying to highlight products or techniques that people might find useful or be interested in.

But then in an instant you throw all of that away, because you wanted to make more money, even though it could hurt a much smaller company that just wanted to make a cool product.

You need to realize that people might look at such a stark example of you placing money over accuracy and assume that that's how you actually think for all of your videos and decisions.  Because honestly, I don't see how it can be viewed in any other way.  The fact that you let this decision stay in the video, then doubled down on it on the WAN Show, then failed to realize what people were upset about, leads me to think that you really do care about money over accuracy.  And this isn't even getting into the massive F up that had to happen which led to a prototype product being auctioned off after agreeing to return it to the manufacturer.  Without ranting for even longer, that's emblematic that the company structure of LMG is just completely broken, or that people are way overworked, or both.  Something like that just shouldn't be possible in a healthy company.

With all of this in mind, I've just lost faith in LMG as a whole for the time being.  I'll be blocking all LMG channels on YouTube.  This isn't insignificant, as LMG videos are about 50% of all the videos I watch on YouTube.  If anyone else has read through this and agrees with my view on the events, I suggest you do the same.  The loss of revenue is the only real way to get a company to change its practices, and LMG isn't special in this regard.  Hopefully in 6 months or so there will be evidence that things have changed for the better, and I can get back to watching LMG videos.

    Edit:

The initial response video is a good start.  Better than I expected, honestly.  Linus's response wasn't that great.  I feel like he's still missing the exact point of why people are so upset, but he's obviously shook up about everything.

Now to get to the bottom of the Madison accusations.  If even 10% of what she says is true, that's pretty damning.

Yeah I agree, GN can't be go too hard on this because of the fanboys, although since Linus technically isn't the CEO anymore, GN probably wants to avoid any legal issues as well, I'm not a legal professional or expert at all, though the video may be enough for LMG to sue GN for going after their brand if the CEO wanted to.
I have to wonder if Luke is even going to stay around with Floatplane, i've noticed that Luke disagreed with Linus on the whole backpack thing, and you can see the disappointment or disagreement on his face when Linus has an objectively bad take, but sometimes Luke doesn't speak up about it. I miss Luke's videos, he had a more genuine personality in videos, while Linus seems to do fake excitement for the camera while seeming to be too scripted like he's reading off marketing material.

I think GN is holding Linus to a higher standard, and IMO that is justified given the size of LMG as a company and how much influence they have on everyone else in the tech youtube community.

This whole thing probably won't affect LMG that much, Linus will probably put out an apology, and maybe compensate the startup company for the water block, I doubt much more will happen other than that.

You're putting out content that some people are going to use for large purchases. If your reviews are inaccurate, then they have much less value.

You need to be thorough and accurate, especially in benchmarks.

When errors are found, there needs to be an injection of voiceover during post.

All that energy, and money, you're pumping into the labs project is going to be for naught if your accuracy isn't there.

Start slowing down on the content, and do more checking. Steve raised a lot of valid points, I think you should look internally at processes to improve everything.

It would be nice to have an explanation of how the prototype ended up on the auction table despite the fact that they'd asked for it back. I'm not sure about other members of the community but to me the other things like inaccuracies on your content are things which can easily be fixed going forward however a company's prototype ending up on the auction floor at an event is not a small issue that can be left to "We're paying them for it", both the community and your past and future sponsors deserve a clear explanation of this matter as well as what steps are being taken to prevent this from occurring in the future.
