  1. I don't care that it's used, I can diagnose and repair problems myself if needed.
  2. Because I've got $445 total to spend, and they are what I've found. I've also never heard of Hasee before
  3. OK, I've gotten my income tax return, and I'm ready to get a new laptop. I've found a couple prospects, but I've had a instructor advise against it, telling me that the legality of it being sold here in the US might be questionable, as the seller openly admitted to buying it in mainland China. So, here are the two contenders: a Hasee laptop, and an Alienware 15 R2. The Hasee has an i7 4720HQ, GTX 970m, 16GB of RAM, a 128GB SSD and a 1TB HDD. They have admitted that there is a "small ding on the right palm rest", the screen flickers once or twice an hour for one or two seconds(gets brighter when it happens), and that they will be including 3 or four North American adaptors.(pictures are listed) The Alienware has a i7 6700, GTX 970m, 8GB RAM, and a 1TB HDD. (here's the mpn if you want it: dkcwkblf033s) Both are 15.6" displays.
  4. The downside there is who knows what you could be getting, thusly it's a wild card that could be less then decent, or straight up bad.
  5. Actually, it is TN. Just a really bad one, especially from the looks of the pictures from one of the reviews. Austin actually points out that it's a really bad TN in his video
  6. For now, that's way out of my price range.
  7. The biggest complaint I've seen about it is the screen being god awful. Though you'd say go with the newer hardware when prices drop again?
  8. Okay, I know I've come asking about this before. Unfortunately, my budget isn't looking to be where I wanted it. Rather then $700-800USD, reality came knocking and slapped me in the face with the door. What it's more realistically looking like is $500-550. Unfortunately, that puts a constraint on what the hardware is capable of. No, I haven't looked on eBay, so if you have a suggestion, it would be most appreciated. Here's what cnet has for the specs for my current run down system. The HDD was swapped for a 480GB HyperX Savage, and is now being used as an external drive. Both drives will be coming with to the new system. https://www.cnet.com/products/hp-15-g020dx-15-6-a6-5200-4-gb-ram-1-tb-hdd-us/specs/ Steam library right now: ASTA Online Bayonetta Dragons and Titans Elder Scrolls (All the way up to Skyrim Special Edition, and I have a couple dozen mods for Skyrim) Elsword Final Fantasy VII Mabinogi Paladins Papers, Please Robocraft Subnautica TERA Undertale Vindictus Warframe Other games I play: Diablo III StarCraft II Minecraft I know that Austin Evens did a review on this Acer Aspire 5, but it only drops to ~$549.99 rarely, and is at the very top of my budget. https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Aspire-i5-8250U-GeForce-A515-51G-515J/dp/B075KCJHMD Video: Doing some digging around, I found it to be rather difficult to find one with decent specs at this budget. I have found an older Dell, though it leaves me a bit concerned. It does have a Hazwell based i7 4810MQ 16GB RAM, though the graphics is a Quadro K1100M. I'm hoping to use this to help get a YouTube channel off the ground (my phone is a ZTE Sonata 3 and the best mic on any device I have is on my Kraken Pro v2). https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=1TS-000A-02HV3 I know my current system can barely handle gaming, and anything higher then that can easily bring it to its knees. This is not to mention that Cinebench R15 on a single thread test will only score ~32, and multi-core will be in the low 100s. I don't trust my phone alone to be able to handle what I want to do. Maybe acting as a camera, but not much if anything else. Again, any advise or input is appreciated as long as you're not going to just sit here and bitch or say to get a bigger budget.
  9. Yes, Windows has that as part of their settings. I've used it when I had Ethernet, but not wifi from ISP, so I simply used my laptop as a hotspot.
  10. I would have a few criteria if it's an HDD: 1) 7200rpm 2) good $/GB 3) make sure it's NEW, not refurbished or used. If you want speed, SSDs are a good option, though you'll be paying for it (4TB 860 EVO=$1400USD)
  11. It could cause instability, but if you have the headroom, go for it. I would ask this, as you said you didn't bother with the voltage, is it on auto? If it is, the mobo could be increasing the voltage on it's own, and going higher then the stock voltage.
  12. I'm unfamiliar with how pricing is there in Colombia, so I can't quite say for sure. People's biggest complaints about FE cards are they have a tendency to run hotter and louder. The place where these style coolers shine is when space is limited, and there could be something in the way of the fans on a custom card, choking it off. The other up side to them, is that it is MUCH easier to find water blocks for a reference(founders) card then it is for almost any other card(most EVGA cards use a reference pcb, so they are compatible with the blocks for these cards.)
  13. *looses lawsuit for not having warning label*
  14. *makes new prank phone* *customer gets burned by hot coffee* *gets sued for customer getting burned*
  15. Hey, I just started studying for the CompTIA A+ 901 test, and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to what the best study guides/materials are. I have an Exam Cram book, and I know about Professor Messer, but I wanted to see if there are any other resources that you could recommend.
  16. That may simply be referring to the size of those particular PCIe slots, and not how they are wired up.
  17. So, the place that I'm at has decided to start doing this "Microsoft Imagine Academy" for the students, but haven't given any information on what it is or what it entails. I've tried looking it up, and I've found Microsoft's page for it: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/education/imagine-academy/default.aspx It's something I've never heard of and I was wondering if any of you have heard about any of this, or know anything extra about it, let alone if any of it is even worth it. I also noticed that there are 32 different "certifications" offered(I'm HIGHLY doubtful that they will be offering all of these to the students). Here is the link to the certifications: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/learning/browse-all-certifications.aspx Again, does anyone know anything about these, let alone if they are even worth it?
  18. Only reason I still have it is because I have friends and family that I couldn't keep in contact with otherwise. Only reason I have Twitter is to enter giveaways.
  19. Okay, I have a G502, and probably the game I play the most by far is Skyrim. Now, the game won't actually let me reassign some of the buttons on the mouse to different things. I have Wait, Invintory and Favorites all reassigned. Two of the buttons I don't use as often default to Sneak and (strangely) Sneak+AutoMove(makes me go into a sneaking stance and I start walking. Very convenient when I'm doing something like eating or getting something to drink with the other hand while still being mobile.) For the day to day, I do use forward and back, though admittedly I use back a lot more then forward.
  20. Those could have been put in by a previous owner. It looks like an OEM case that had all the 5.25" bay covers removed.
  21. If you don't plan to OC, it's not bad. Otherwise, I'd get a B350 instead.
  22. Okay, I hate to say it, but I can tell you are new, especially since it seems like you seem to be under a bit of distress over this. For one, I'd like to welcome you to the PC Master Race, (ALL HAIL THE MOTHERBOARD! And the son, the CPU. And the holy spirit: the RAM. Control Alt Delete.) Sorry, little joke. Anyways, The Celsius S36 has a fan hub built onto the radiator that then has the fans and pump running off the same cable. You can just plug this into the CPU hedder, or another header into the dedicated AIO header. The 10W quoted is probably full power consumption of the pump and the fans all at max.
  23. Okay, your temps seem perfectly fine, though your VRMs are getting kinda toasty, though they are still within spec. This is what I would do: get a couple(2, maybe 3) decent case fans to help move air threw the case, and get an aftermarket CPU cooler that blows down onto the motherboard to help get some air blowing on those VRMs. Fans: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/M6vZxr/be-quiet-pure-wings-2-120-870-cfm-120mm-fan-bl039 A few coolers I would suggest: https://pcpartpicker.com/products/compare/xxphP6,9FGj4D,Lbhj4D/ I don't know where you are from, so pricing and availability may be different for you.
  24. My first thought on that is they probably are still feeling the sting of all the crap that went down with Intel, going decades in the court system only to have nothing resolved because somehow Intel managed to keep delaying things long enough to get by with nothing more then a period of minor annoyance, where as AMD suffered. It's possible that they are taking a more indirect approach by getting backup and support before going directly on the offensive. This is not to mention that people who do pay attention to the media WILL notice, especially if this catches on. Given how much sway the media has, I would think that people could be pushed away from Nvidia as they where pushed away from Intel because of specter. Both of these would then hopefully cause enough disturbance, if legal action was not already taken, to make Nvidia do something. I'm not saying I'll give the people over at AMD that much credit for looking that far ahead, or that elaborately, but who knows.
  25. Yes, and the upcoming 11XX/20XX(whatever they are calling it) is still just a rumor.
