  1. I will be the first to tell you I am 100% not a networking guy. With that said at home currently I have a tp-link tl-wdr3600 Which has been a decent router. But it now feels like perhaps we are over taxing it or something. Connected devices are 2 pc's (both over ethernet) 2 laptops (both have wireless ac now) 2 oneplus 3t (also with wireless ac) and a NAS/Netflix streaming machine(ethernet) . My question is basically are we over taxing the router? Do I need a new one? Would going with a wireless ac router help now that all wireless devices are ac? It's not the internet that feels slow (100Mbps)its the actual network traffic. Either steam in home streaming, file sharing, or accessible NAS just makes everything slow. Sometimes just a simple reboot of the router helps for a bit. Any suggestions? Or other info I can give back.
  2. I've been shopping around for a new laptop. I was wondering if anyone knew of any I should be sure to look at. I'm looking for something in the area of 15inch (no 17inch) i5 processor (will go i7 if price is right) 8gb ram or more 1050ti SSD Back light keyboard Decent battery (weight not huge issue) Clean and simple looks more then aggressive and bold. Looking around $800 can go a little higher if it hits all the points just right.
  3. Live the Cosmos 2 choice, sexiest case ever!

  5. I did the 3200mhz ram for the red led since all he said he wanted was black and red. And I agree with you on the cpu not letting the 1080 go all out. But again he didn't specify all he said he wants was black and red and a 1080 without a K processor
  6. He said he doesn't want a K series so doesn't need a Z mobo and I left off PSU for him to choose. My point was he didn't tell us what he wants to do with it, At what resolution, or why no K series so he needs to pick
  7. Pick up either Asus or Msi video card and mobo. Both are great companies and both offer many black and red themes. Pick a case you like and bam your black and red. Just flavor the parts as you wish. I could send build links all day long of systems that have a 1080 in them and use many red/black parts, have red led or red fans whatever it's all personal flavor. But here Is 1 to get you started PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i5-6500 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor ($191.89 @ OutletPC) Motherboard: Asus B150 PRO GAMING/AURA ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($91.99 @ Newegg) Memory: Corsair Vengeance LED 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 Memory ($114.99 @ Newegg) Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 1080 8GB GAMING X 8G Video Card ($664.99 @ Newegg) Case: NZXT S340 (Black/Red) ATX Mid Tower Case ($66.99 @ SuperBiiz) Case Fan: Corsair Air Series AF140 Quiet Edition 67.8 CFM 140mm Fan ($17.88 @ OutletPC) Case Fan: Corsair Air Series AF140 Quiet Edition 67.8 CFM 140mm Fan ($17.88 @ OutletPC) Total: $1166.61 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2016-12-04 08:48 EST-0500 Still have about $500 left over for ssd, OS, power supply, leds, monitors whatever
  8. I always get excited for AMD launches. But unfortunately I am usually let down. I expect to much perhaps. My first few builds were AMD for the value. Once I went intel I don't think I could ever go back. Intel just does it better.
  9. You haven't said why you need to buy one. The only reason you NEED to buy one is for exclusive but you would know which one if it was for an exclusive. So sounds to me like Would work great
  10. He could still expect around 45-50 fps Imo. The 1070 has shown strong results for 1440 around 60-70 and 2160 around 30-40. But still expect about 1/4 what you get now.
  11. Enderman Is correct. However don't expect stellar fps if gaming in surround with a 1070.
  12. He said at medium settings. The 460 will be fine for current games at 1080p at medium settings for the time being so he can afford his 6400 and 1060 sooner (which will run much better)
  13. Keep in mind the 8350 is already 4 years old. So now your talking about 7 or 8 year old hardware. I feel as though he would just need to upgrade that much sooner. But to answer your question yes the 8350 will work well for him now. I was just thinking that a $250 a year from now would get him a i7 6700 each would be way better performance and that much longer till he would need to upgrade architecture or chipset.
  14. 8 is "enough" to get the job done. I personally prefer 16 because I use multiple monitors and multitasking often so I use more then 8 on a regular basis. Be it streaming music in background, having multiple (too many often times lol) web pages open, messaging platforms open etc
