I was born and raised in Ohio but have since moved away. I'm in to all things tech but am not typically a first adopter for reasons (like the Note 7). I'm always learning and as such have sort of been becoming the jack-of-all-trades sort. I work in IT and am also a youtuber. Want to know more? Just ask!

  1. What makes a computer/device suitable/best for digital artwork? This could easily be multiple videos. My idea is specifically for free-hand art with a pen on a touchscreen or the like, but could just as easily have different videos for 3D work, photography, etc. I think it'd also be cool to have some sort of video (probably not a tech quickie) that compares some of the top options for artwork. This is an interest of mine and I just don't seem to find great information that answers all my questions.
  2. Ok, nvm. I guess I'm just reading it wrong somehow. I can see further up that it's saying 6GB but further down says 2GB and 2GB. Either I'm reading it wrong or its not displaying the info. correctly (Speccy).
  3. No, I grew concerned after running Speccy and seeing that it was only detecting 2GB Physical, when there should be 6GB. When I check it in the nvidia console, it shows the 6GB in dedicated graphics that I'd expect present. I'm not testing usage at the moment. I guess now I'm just confused why I'd get different figures of my physical hardware from different programs.
  4. Currently running updates on it. The thing that puzzles me is that Speccy is optimized for finding the specs of your machine, not necessarily benchmarks. I'm just afraid some of my hardware isn't willing to go up that high on RAM or something. Will be running to games soon.
  5. Updated initial entry. I bought it from BestBuy new. Speccy should be showing me what's fully available. Haven't tested any games yet.
  6. Ok. I'm missing something. I just installed an nvidia geforce gtx 1060 into my computer alongside a RAM upgrade. It is supposed to have 6GB or RAM on the card. I'm only getting 2GB. Please check my specs and give me your thoughts. I have my suspicions but nothing concrete just yet. Thank you. 7. Thanks guys! These are some great thoughts!
  8. Alright so this is in part because I'm looking to upgrade my display but I'm also curious what people think on the topic. For gamers who play faster moving games like many shooters, I hear people emphasize having higher Hz like at 144 Hz if you can get it. Then there's 4k and up on resolution giving a sharper, more realistic image. Granted, you can get a monitor that combines good refresh rates with high resolution. However, what I want to know: Which would you emphasize over the other and why? Would you emphasize that 4k+ resolution or would you emphasize that high Hz in your monitor choice?
  9. Maybe this? EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 6GBSSC GAMING ACX 3.0, 6GB GDDR5, LED, DX12 OSD Support (PXOC),
  10. The more I think about it and the fact that I'm doing more video work as time goes on....perhaps I should just upgrade. I guess from there: what should I go to? - without breaking the bank to do so
  11. So I have a Geforce GTX 750 Ti. It includes 1x dual-link DVI-I, 1x DVI-D, 2x HDMI 1.4. I want to get the best screen/screen resolution I can with my current card. I know that it is possible to use both HDMI ports to support a 4k screen but it would have to be one that supports using 2 cables to do so. I'm not concerned with high Hz as I don't use it for LoL or CS:GO (though it'd be nice) but do not want to go below 60 Hz. As it is, the Dual-link DVI-I and HDMI ports each can get to 3440 x 1440 (21:9) alone (using only 1 port, no pairing up) from what I've researched so far. I'm just having difficulty finding what will match what I've got and I rarely see anything confirming whether or not the monitor will let me use 2 HDMI ports at the same time for a single output (though I have seen monitors with 2 HDMI on them, they just didn't confirm). The short: I'm looking for a monitor that won't cause me to go below 60 Hz while delivering the highest resolution I can get. Recommendations? I'm currently using an LG Flatron E2241.
  12. I'm listening to what is often called nothing. All that there is, is the silence and occasional sounds of life from the world about me. I guess you could say, it is the music life, nothing until something is done by someone somewhere. Lol. I sometimes like to take a break from listening to music or video in order to keep all that I'm listening to from becoming monotonous background noise in my head.
  13. This is the very reason why I've come to unplug whatever it is that I'm not using at the time that could listen in on me. Also, cover your webcams...all of them.
  14. My "favorite" is when I get customer's asking me to do something we don't or calling in to have me get into one of their accounts or phone as if I have instant access. When they cannot understand why I cannot, I then have to explain to them that these things are not actively open for security and their privacy. At this point, some of them have hung up in a huff. A recent instance involved a guy (I was working at AT&T advanced technical support at this point) who called in to have his email fixed on his phone. For starters, his iPhone didn't have the right password saved and his email was an outlook email which I did not have access to (nor could I pull it up online because our location blocked most sites they considered "out of scope"). In short, he wanted me to fix the password and then push the fix to his phone while he was at work and expected me to do this without him having do anything and insisted that we could do. The trouble is, we had no access at our location for remote access to iPhones (which requires iTunes to do) and outlook wasn't an email we serviced. If someone had done this for him in the past, it wasn't us. He said he keep calling back until he got someone who could help him. My truly favorites are the ones who came to me about their phone making no sounds (iPhone) and they failed to check the silent switch on the left-hand side. At least these ones didn't get mad at me, they just acted embarrassed.
