but still, that's giving something for free, what OnePlus is doing here is installing an app store that nobody is gonna use, so it's effectively bloatware, which is IMO still worse.

What OnePlus are doing is installing a free app making it easier for people to use their devices in ways that people would typically use their device. What Apple did was install an album on their users devices that nobody is going to listen to, so it's effectively taking up space on people's devices just so Apple could pull a marketing stunt, which is worse IMO
This of course isn't to say I agree with bundling apps with phones. I actually don't. I have a Samsung phone and I hate all the Samsung garbage apps they force on the phone.
I'm sure Amazon spent a lot of money to have OnePlus install their app on their devices. I recently bought something off Amazon AU and it offered a $10 discount on my order if I purchased through the phone app. I couldn't be bothered downloading the amazon app so I just paid full price, but if Amazon is giving $10 off orders just to download the app then they must be spending bucket loads of cash to promote it.
