  1. They've got something like that at my work. It has a bottom scrolling bar and a continuous loop of news, weather, business promotions & products, etc. I know it runs on a PC, but I don't know much else.
  2. You usually can't use the same install of Windows after a motherboard upgrade.
  3. So, I've been looking to purchase a cheap, pre-owned pre-built and add a couple upgrades and make it a decent PC for entry and mid level gaming. One in particular I'm looking at is a SFF PC with a i5-3470 (quad-core), and 12 gb ddr3. The kind of upgrades I would do is to throw in an SSD for the OS and leave the HDD for mass storage, and add one of those SFF gtx 1050s, like the one from MSI that does not require supplemental PCI power. With that in mind, how much should I be reasonably willing to pay **USD** for such a pre-built, and how much would it be worth after making the upgrades? Also, would this be a decent performer? I haven't had a lot of experience with used PC parts, but I think the 3470 should still be a good performer for entry & mid level pc games. If this idea is a good value proposition (performance/dollar), I'd like to do this and give it to my nephew who is beginning his venture into PC gaming.
  4. There's a good chance then that the correct carrier settings profile has not been installed. I used an MVNO, which is just a prepaid carrier that purchases rights to use a larger networks cell towers like AT&T. When I first purchased the service, I had no MMS because this little MVNO company never collaborated with Apple to create a carrier settings profile to be pushed to its iPhone customers. However, if I remember correctly T-Mobile sim cards, and T-Mobile-like sim cards allow you to access a menu to input the correct APN settings manually to allow you access to mobile data, hotspot, and MMS. You should be able to navigate to the Settings app, then Cellular -> Cellular Data Network and input the correct APN and other settings specific to your carrier.
  5. Who's your cell carrier? Did you have any problem with this before the update? Your carrier settings profile may not be updated yet to work with the new iOS.
  6. Command Prompt versus PowerShell. This video could highlight what both utilities are and their key differences and what use cases apply to both of them. Please make it happen!
  7. if it's only 10-15 feet, perhaps you should consider picking up a longer Ethernet cable. If you can route it out of sight, then you can save a lot and have better performance than wireless.
  8. That's true. I think everyone is just really taking notice, moreso than previous versions, because of the huge shift to the whole Windows as a service thing, and the aggressive data collection. Windows 10 has been a huge transition.
  9. You could say that, but from my experience lately with Windows 10, that is just a drawback of Microsoft products in general.
  10. I ran a "repair" install with a windows 10 creators update ISO and had to leave it sit a few hours while I was gone. I came back and it successfully installed Version 1703. So I dodged the clean install process. I suspect there are some missing drivers or support in the normal upgrade package that renders it incompatible with NVME devices.
  11. Thanks, still waiting on the download. May be a little later before I give it a go. I'll update the thread after I try this.
  12. I'm going to try and mount the ISO in windows first and see if I can fix anything that way. If that doesn't work, I'll boot from it and try doing a "repair install." If that doesn't work, I really don't know what else to do, but a clean install, and I really don't want to.
  13. I have the drive that my Windows 10 purchase came with, however I do have spare drives as well. I'm downloading an ISO right now, but I really want to avoid a new install, because I have so much stuff!
  14. Hi all. I've been having an issue trying to install the Creators update. I don't really want it, but my machine keeps downloading and trying to install it, but is not able to. Windows Update downloads the update with no issues, I click install when it finishes, the computer configures Windows to update, restarts and I hit a BSOD upon restart, which is what I have attached. I've tried using the Windows Upgrade assistant, tried using my Windows USB drive to repair my current windows installation and tried installing the update, and I've ran the sfc /scannow command just to make sure there is no file corruption. Despite my best efforts, I've had no luck. My system is an Asus x99 deluxe-II motherboard with an i7-6850k, 32 gb 3000 mHz ram, a Samsung 960 pro m.2 NVME boot SSD, and a gtx 1080. I think thats all the relevant hardware, if you need anymore specs let me know. However, I wouldn't have installed this update, but Windows keeps re-downloading after each failed install, devouring what little bandwidth I have. Does anyone know of a solution to just get this update installed? I honestly have a feeling Microsoft screwed up and didn't include NVME support for its in-place update.
  15. He could definitely get a less expensive board, one less 1080ti, get a 1700x or 1700 cpu, save a ton using more affordable fans and stock fans, and still maintain virtually all of the performance that this build would have. SLI isn't that great anymore, and most games are not optimized for it. The 1700x and 1700 can be overclocked to match the 1800x.
  16. I have three 1080p monitors connected to my 1080 with no issue. However, I only game on one, I don't enjoy having my field of view broken up by bezels.

  19. This is a good video to watch on the subject.
  20. R7-1700 is also a good overclockable 8-core 16-thread CPU.
  21. Walmart has it! 22. Nice, I think that one would do the trick, and DVD/CD playback speeds aren't going to be affected much by USB 2.
  23. Wow, that might work, I wonder if you have to use both USB's when you have PSU SATA power...
  24. No, surprisingly it's a newer board in a pre-built running a Kaby Lake i5. It's pretty lousy. But one thought comes to mind, are there any adapters from m.2 to SATA? Really want to stick with SATA and not dump money into an m.2
