  1. Wccftech has articles about the 2nd generation of AMD Ryzen processors. I would be very interested in seeing how these compare to Intel's 8th generation CPUs. 2nd Gen Ryzen Review Leaked 2nd Gen Ryzen Prices and Specs
  2. These videos should explain multi core cpus and hyper threading.
  3. Digital may be fine for some people but I'm sure there are people in the LTT community who prefer to buy CDs and Blu Rays to rip to a server for higher quality personal enjoyment. There is also some things that still aren't available in digital format and a list could show some of the more obscure movies, tv shows, and music that is popular with the LTT community. It wouldn't even need to be a full video just a quick note at the end of the year end computer video or maybe in the video description.
  4. Does anyone else think it would be interesting to see a video on the top 10 movies, books, and cds, purchased by the LTT community using the Amazon affiliate link at the end of the year like they do with the community built computer?
  5. I'm running the slightly more powerful 5370 (2.2GHz instead of 2.05GHz) in my media/plex server and it's working just fine. I've been able to stream through my apartment and to my cell phone when I'm at work. Previously it was used as an HTPC and worked well. I haven't used it for anything more than 1080p blu ray rips so I don't know if it would handle 4K content.
  6. A couple of years ago I searched through Google for this same issue and the only thing I found was a program called Folder Size that can scan your drive and show the size of the folders but it shows in a separate program and won't show the size in file explorer. If you want to try it you can find it here.
  7. You can't use the Wii sensor bar with a Wii U the connector looks the same but is mirrored with the notch on the opposite side.
  8. I would like to see them do the next one on completely neutral ground and maybe run a contest to pick a couple of fans to compete against.
  9. If you're willing to switch to air cooling you can get the Zalman CNPS9500. I'm running the same fan on the same CPU and it keeps the temperatures low.
  10. Amazon has it new for $120. I have that exact same case and it has incredible airflow. I'm running an FX-8350 and Sapphire Radeon Nitro+ RX 480 8GB and it stays comfortably cool on just the fans. The fan controllers are a nice touch and it's one of the easiest cases to build in. The picture doesn't do justice to how massive the case is.
  11. The best way to check is to go to PC Part Picker and put in all the parts you're using. They have a power calculator to let you know approx how many watts your parts will need.
  12. You can try the SeaSonic - 520W 80+ Bronze Certified Fully-Modular. It looks like it is the cheapest fully modular power supply and SeaSonic is a good brand. I'm running a 620W Seasonic power supply in my media server.
  13. I'm paying $70/month for 100Mbit internet through Comcast because it is the only high speed internet available where I live. The US bows down to the corporations too much and companies like Comcast believe competition is bad for business which is why the US is lagging behind so many other countries on internet speeds. Google Fiber has been advertised for my city for over a year but Comcast has been fighting them every step of the way and they have even gone in front of the city council to try to prevent one touch make ready where one company can go out and move the existing wires on the poles to allow space for Google to place their wires allowing Google to get up and running faster.
  14. Mozilla Thunderbird works on Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, and iOS so you can sync it across multiple devices and handles multiple email accounts. I've been using it for almost 10 years and haven't had any serious problems with it.
  15. If you're very careful you can but it would be best to use distilled water and don't use tap water because it can leave contaminants behind. You have to make sure the components are completely dry before connecting them to the computer so cover them in rice or in some kind of desiccant and let them dry for several days. I only know about this because there was a big boom in cleaning computers where I live after the Nashville floods of 2010. As for the power supply it might be safer to just get a new one. Opening power supplies can be dangerous as the capacitors can still hold a charge strong enough to kill a person.
