  1. A surge protector power strip yes, the long things with multiple outlets you plug into an existing outlet. Yes I know the washer is already damaged, I want to plug it into a power strip anyway so when a cycle is complete, all my mother has to do is flip the switch on the power strip mounted elsewhere. Currently she has to try & reach behind the washing machine & unplug it so it doesn't randomly start washing all over again. Because of her health & height though she's unable to unplug or plug it back in all the way. So a lot of the time it's partly exposed which I know could cause a spark & fire. We've replaced the timer before but for this model they only last a couple months. We can't afford to keep going through them like that nor replace the machine either. The timer is faulty because it's so cheap it couldn't handle the rare power outages we get during storms. I'll link below the ones I'm considering buying, I've found out I just need to check the back of our washer to ensure it's at or hopefully below their max amp rating. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000WJCXR2/?coliid=I1DAY849IRYAP8&colid=1KUQ3J3O8PWFO&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000L9OQ3C/?coliid=IUZUVZ438CEHV&colid=1KUQ3J3O8PWFO&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0006BC5YC/?coliid=I1Z6A41EUQC0B1&colid=1KUQ3J3O8PWFO&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007ZT2XT0/?coliid=I3G0IRL9QN6OCE&colid=1KUQ3J3O8PWFO&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000FPDF5M/?coliid=I32AU6CDK9JQ0I&colid=1KUQ3J3O8PWFO&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000KKNFMU/?coliid=I3P9CI97DUXJSX&colid=1KUQ3J3O8PWFO&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it
  2. This is sorta tech related but I put in off topic anyway. I need to get a surge protector for our washing machine. I know you're not technically supposed to use an appliance on one but it could really benefit us. Currently our washer's timer is deflective. So unless the lid is lifted ASAP when the load is done, there's a good chance it'll start washing all over again. So each night we have to unplug the stupid thing so it won't start randomly washing on it's own. I found this model on Amazon which should handle the load. Most washers are 15 AMP & it's rated for 20, although the plug is different, ours are just the normal 2 straight with 1 round ground at the bottom. While one of it's are sideways, would I need an adapter or something? I've tried finding others but the only 2, 20 AMP surge protectors Amazon has have that same design. All the 15 AMP ones are normal plugs but I've heard that if I get a surge protector with the same max load as what our washer would put out all the time, it could constantly trip itself. Any advice y'all have I'd appreciate it, we've tried having the timer replaced but they go out too often & replacing the washer itself is way out of budget for a very long time & we've already had to put up with this for years.
  3. Thank you so much! I decided on DisplayPort to DVI because of the locking mechanism although I need to ask Amazon if theirs actually has it because from the pictures I can't tell.
  4. Thanks & finally, is there a better brand you'd recommend?
  5. Thank you, I wasn't sure if running dual monitors on 2 different connectors would effect latency or something. I won't have both running the same image, just each dedicated to a different desktop so I can multi-task easier. Here's a couple I found on Amazon, these are the correct thing right? I just want to make sure I'm not getting my inputs & outputs confused. AmazonBasics HDMI INput to DVI Output Adapter Cable AmazonBasics DisplayPort to DVI Cable
  6. My friends recently gave me a second monitor, an HP S2031 which I plan to pair with my Acer V206HQL. Both are 1600x900 resolution but the most advanced connector either offer is DVI-D. Although I would need to purchase a DVI-D cable for the HP display, unfortunately my 3GB 1060 Gaming X only has a single DVI-D input along with 3 DisplayPort & 1 HDMI. So I'm unsure what kind of adapters I should get & how many to run this upcoming dual monitor setup in the best way. 1: Should I buy a single DVI-D to HDMI & DVI-D to DisplayPort adapters? 2: Should I buy 2 DVI-D to DisplayPort adapters? 3: Should I leave 1 monitor on DIV-D & only get an adapter for the other to run on either HDMI or DisplayPort? 4: Lastly, I do need a power cable for the monitor I was given, should any flat-screen monitor cable work regardless of how old? I have 2 from a NEC MultiSync LCD 1545V & Samsung LS19GSESBY/XAA older monitors that barely work.
  7. Thanks so much, although I haven't been able to find that 1 I did find these but I haven't decided yet. A vent mount would work but only on the left side of my steering wheel & I'm terrified my phone might somehow get knocked out the window. While on the right side by dash will work too it'll be in more sun, might not mount as well & possibly block 2 vents I can't shutoff. Which I can close the single one on the right so yeah, still undecided but at least found a good brand. iOttie Easy One Touch 4 Air Vent Car Mount iOttie Easy One Touch 4 Dashboard & Windshield
  8. Thank you, if I got 1 of those I'd want one with a fairly long arm. Due to how much longer my legs are for my height vs my arms, it makes reaching anything that's further away or equal to my center console vents a stretch. So yeah I'd rather be extended at least a few inches out from my dash.
  9. I'm looking for a dash mounting system for my Samsung Galaxy S7 in it's Tek21 EVO case. Which is pretty slippery but I can't afford something different right now so whatever type of mount I get has to have a good grip. I know the 2 main types are vent & suction cup but I live in Arizona. So it does get pretty hot in the summer but also cold in the winter, which means I'd rather not block 1 of my vents & risk over heating the phone. Likewise I know keeping it out of the summer sun is a must & I'd honestly like it closer to me anyway. I know some suction cups have extendable arms but I don't know how well that or any mounting plate would stick to the dash or windshield in my 1993 Geo Prizm. I don't need one that charges it or holds by magnets, I prefer clamps unless there's a magnetic one that won't let go or damage my phone with adhesive. Price wise if there was something for just a few dollars that'd be decent for temporary until I could afford to blow $100+ on something that'd last forever I'd go that route for now. Anyway, if any of you have suggestions on brands or even particular models of smartphone dash mounts I'd greatly appreciate it.
  10. I'm not sure how many system restore points I have but I'll check, thanks.
  11. I'll just let the game finish downloading over the next couple days. Try it out & play for a week or 2 then uninstall it, a waste of time I know but I need to know if I even like the game before I shell out $100 on a 500GB SSD sometime next year. Kinda wish I didn't have to try it at all but things happened.
  12. Thank you all, right now I couldn't dish out $10 for a 1TB SSD even if someone gave me that good of a deal. Good to know I don't ever need to seasonally waste my time reinstalling my OS. Is it a bad idea to only have 10GB or less free space for future Windows Updates? If so I'll cancel the ESO download now.
  13. While downloading Elder Scrolls Online I noticed that my 250GB Smasung 850 EVO only has 95GB free. I'm almost positive it was well over 100GB a few months ago or last year. So I'm wondering if the 137GB used is from countless fall or spring creators updates stacked on top of one another. If I did a clean install of Windows 10 Home 64-bit using either the USB stick I bought, after all updates were said & done would it free up 5, 10 or even more GB of space? My personal files only take up 3GB & buying a 120 or 500 something GB secondary SSD isn't an option until maybe next year.
  14. It was working a few days ago but now when I try to pin a memo to the home screen of my Verizon Samsung Galaxy S7 running Android Oreo it never shows up. I've tried restarting the phone, turning it off & on completely & clearing cache via the built in optimizer tool. Anyone got ideas?
  15. Thank you, I think I'm just gonna make this work. Although I'm a bit annoyed that since I downloaded & installed Microsoft Photos it wont let me uninstall it now. Or is that actually the app you've instructed me to use?
  16. Yeah I found out it's a registry edit & although I'm fairly certain TenForums wouldn't advise anything malicious. I'll probably still decline that option found here: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/14312-restore-windows-photo-viewer-windows-10-a.html
  17. I'm looking for a Photo Viewer for Windows 10 Home 64-bit that's as close as possible to that found on Windows 7. I've tried Microsoft Photos on the Windows Store but once I zoom in or make an image I'm viewing full screen, the other options at the top of the screen disappear & refuse to come back unless I restart the app. I know there's loads of third party programs like this available on the Windows Store & probably elsewhere too. I'd like the communities opinions on some of these though so I don't accidentally get something malicious. Most specifically, I just want a tool to view, zoom, rotate & skip to next photo within that folder. I use Gimp for advanced editing which takes too long to open if I just need to check out an image quickly. So which app do y'all use or recommend?
  18. Stormy so avoiding dangerous game play =\

  19. If I set the monitor to run at 75 or 100, how much would the response time increase from 1ms? 2, 3, 4, 5?
  20. Thank you, what you said reminded me of something else too. Since I'd probably keep my 21" Acer V206HQL 4ms, 60Hz TN panel as a backup. I'd probably lose my mind having to use it while I await a replacement for that 144Hz one if it broke. So in that sense if all I ever use is 60Hz, temporarily dealing with washed out colors wouldn't be so bad. While more votes roll in I'll watch some video reviews for either monitor & try to find out if my 3GB 1060 could even supply 144+ FPS most of the time in Warframe or Doom. Truthfully my budget favors the cheaper option but things can change in coming months & I'm keeping my hopes high.
  21. I'm considering upgrading my display in the near future, probably only to a single 24" 1080p model but just maybe 2 of the same kind. I'm torn between either of these choices & they're the only ones that meet all my other requirements. Good Ratings, VESA compatible, decent or better colors, low response time, 60 or higher refresh rate & slim matte bezels. Some other concerns I have are if I could run a 144hz monitor at 60 & how that would impact the response time. I'd only do that if my current hardware couldn't drive that much FPS all the time, but at least having a monitor capable of it would mean that wont be a future bottleneck if it's max was 60 like the other. I don't do color work professionally but on a RuneScape scale making a capes colors perfectly match those on an outfit by adjusting the hue, saturation & luminosity in-game I truly enjoy. So I think that's where an IPS option like the ASUS choice would be better for me. Although I would like to play Warframe or even Doom in the future too so that's where I could also benefit from 144Hz, if my PC can drive it. I don't know I can't decide, if y'all could give your opinions on this in some depth I'd love it, thanks! MSI Optix MAG24C 24" Curved 1080p 1ms 144Hz VS ASUS VN248H-P 23.8" 1080p 5ms 60Hz
  22. 4 months later my Logitech G600 is still working fine, I have experienced a few potential misclicks but I couldn't replicate them. So that could just be a separate issue with whatever I was doing because it usually only happened when I was multi-tasking with multiple windows up, side by side maneuvering between them all.
  23. As an update, they're still seeing GTX 1080 in their Nvidia Control pannel but I'm assuming that's a bug with whatever version they're using. Or maybe that's just how it recognizes a 1070 because it uses the same core as a 1080.
