1. I think Sony and Microsoft will have more input than that, and I expect that there will be a difference between the two. Not sure what, I just can't imagine them both marketing the same console with a different name. Maybe one will have a higher clocked CPU or more/less ram. Who knows.
2. I believe it means that it can run simultaneous 5ghz and 2.4ghz frequencies. This means that some of your 5ghz compatible hardware can benefit from it's advanced speeds, and older hardware can still use 2.4ghz (which will also be improved as it will be n300/n450). Don't quote me on this as I'm not sure and I only know this because I have been looking to upgrade my Wifi router myself. (But If i am wrong , I expect someone will correct me)
3. Build around one of amd's APU's; I know this isn't the job they are designed for but it seems ideal to me. An A10 5800k(quad core) runs at 3.8ghz and is overclockable -if you wish, and because it's an apu you won't need a GPU , and can also have use of the graphics side of the chip for hardware acceleration for transcoding etc. On top of that motherboards for fm2 are very well priced, and some are compatible with IDE, If you don't want to buy sata drives straight away. Get a decent atx case with plenty of drive cages, and good cooling and you're all set. Don't bother buying racks, I don't think it's necessary seeing as most atx case's can hold 6+ HDDs and all the power you need for backups, streaming and even hosting a local game server.
4. I Googled it lol, but what does it matter if we know what SNES stands for, it has no relevance to 10-15 year old's spending money on high-end PCs. The OP is just a ranting idiot, who needs to respect other people's freedom and choice's. Everyone can have money in this world(with exceptions...) , at any age , you just have put your mind to find a solution. I was never given a PC and yet due to careful saving(and some working) I have built 2 rigs.
5. And well done btw! I love to see budget builds , they perform so well for the price! And If you have enough performance, don't bother upgrading, save up for the next gen and then you will have a new rig then too!
6. I wouldn't go with the 6970, I have one (got it cheap on ebay) and they run hot...and this causes a lot of fan noise. And that is with very good case airflow. Look at a 7870, they are nice, and I've been told perform better than a 6970 (at cooler temps ) and are less noisy
7. I suppose you're right...only a tech savy person would spend so much money
8. Using 3rd party software is common and easy for people who know what they are doing, and feel safe doing so, but many people do not know enough about GPUs and would be afraid to mess around with them- also who would think that a third party software could do a better job than the manufacture's software?. Like eshbop said, when you buy expensive hardware (which comes with software) you expect that the provided software will be able to use the full performance of the hardware.
9. Thanks guys! Asus sounds good to me
10. Why do you have a different cards for winter and summer?
11. Thats great, cause I'm seeing alot of first time posters here...
12. Thanks , yeah I think I will go with the Asus
13. Just joined, think I have it set up right, but I'm not appearing as a team member on the users list on Extreme overclocking.. And btw is 9953 PPD for CPU and 2726 for GPU any good? Thanks
14. So I need to upgrade my router that my ISP gave me cause it's terrible, and I want something really good, as I run a HTPC with a DNLA server on it for streaming around the house, I also have my Gaming PC on the other end of the house so I need good range on the router, on top of that there are loads of devices connecting to it, about about 5 PCs and 5 phones and a printer and a few other things. I know WiFi Isn't the only option, but it's the easiest for me, and even if I used powerline I'd still have to have wireless for laptops and phones. I've picked 2 that look really good, but I'm not sure which is best: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B007W16SMO http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B005UGRF16 The Asus one looks like it might have better range because on the external aerials but idk .Any other suggestions? Thanks guys.
15. Well this would eat my FX8320! Although i feel like a traitor to AMD!
16. What are the benefits of using a 7000 series card over a 6000 series one? (Apart from obvious ones such as power consumption)
17. Yeah looks like i can't get a 7870 for less than €240.....which is a bit too high for me tbh.Actually i can on amazon...il look into it, they'll still be more expensive than the 6970 though.
18. Wow! That is amazing...there must be such a big jump from past to current gen...I am amazed! :0Well it looks like it all boils down to price now...it looks like i can get a brand new 6970 from ebay for €165, which is a great price, but il see how much i can get a 7870 for.
19. Lol, i have Googled it , and then i came here due to a lack of info. ;) And I don't know, 7870 only has 1GB of vram, not really enough for Eyefinity. Plus i won't just be playing Black Ops that's just what i'm playing at the moment. And I can't really switch between single and triple. My setup is the same as this:
20. Decided to get the Roccat Pyra , The others are just too pricey. Thanks everyone
21. I don't think the 7870 would be enough , i have the 6870 and there seems to very little improvement, as for the 660ti , well it's nvidia.
22. My budget is fairly limited, maybe 200£ max, I've looked at amazon and i can get a 6970 for less than i can a 7950....which would you go for? 50£ is the difference in price. The 6970 is 2GB and 7950 is 3gb.
