ASUSPRIME's Achievements

  1. i love the size. I don't like to have a giant machine next to me, desk space is space and makes a it look a lot more professional. I think products like the Magnus are the future of computers.
  2. Motherboard matters if you want to overclock. I think one main reason my motherboard cannot get higher clocks stable is the lack of VRM heatsink and the locked core voltage. Spread spectrum is also locked so I get 99.76 bus speed thus making my oc actually 3.790Ghz instead of 3.8Ghz .

  4. l have this deal. I bought it during July 4th sale for $71. I had it oc to 3.8Ghz on stock cooler but changed to the Cooler master N520 for better temps. Its not stable at 4.0 but i think thats cus the motherboard is not meant to oc.
  5. I paid $19 and upgraded through the online method, took me around 30 mins to be back playing games. I have more stuff on a 1TB HDD so I didn't lose any files. Thanks for the heads up on the deal. If any of you do not like the start menu button get Start8 software. You will love it.
  6. its a good deal at $99 but for a few dollars more you can get a GTX 750 Ti that performs the same at less power. I am not an Nvidia fanboy but the gtx 750ti or a R9 270 would be more efficient. Look for benchmarks and you will see what i mean. The HD 6970 has more raw power but i have no idea why it performs similar to the GTX 750ti. I own an MSI r9 280x (hd 7970)
  7. none of you have suggested to look at the hard drive specs. I used to use a Seagate 160GB for OS drive and it would be so slow. Maybe he has an slow HDD. Since i moved to an SSD big loading times are a thing of the past. Also if by any chance u have an SSD then maybe you have too much stuff in it, I remember my Samsung 120GB SSD would slow down when i had like 20% space left. Disabling start up programs, adding more ram, scanning for viruses and a clean install of windows can help. Obviously if you have an slow HDD then thats the issue.
  8. @Wiff the pentium G3258 is Haswell based, not old tech from 6 years ago like you claim... I have both CPUs (g3258 and 750k) Intel is way better. I OC the g3258 to 3.8GHz with a Gigabyte GA-H81M-DS2V mobo i got free when i bought the g3258 at newegg during July 4th sale. I get same or better fps on all the games i play.

  10. well think about it. For $99 you cannot find something similar unless is used or a little more expensive. This is a good deal only if you only have $99 and a good 500w-600w PSU and need a GPU cuz you are running integrated graphics. This is by no means a good deal if you can afford to drop another $50 or $100 on a better, efficient and less power hungry card. The GTX 750 performs great but if you go for the 1GB version just for the savings, you might as well get this HD 6970 with 2GB for less. Anyways we cannot know if the GTX 750 outperforms the HD 6970 on games, i think that would settle the question if this is a good deal regardless of the power requirements.
  11. @Ren According to Passmark website its true that the GTX 750 is more efficient and get a similar score. Passmark Scores HD 6970 3486 GTX 750 3279 Price @ newegg $129.99 for a 2GB version http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125510 GTX 750 Ti 3661 Price @ newegg $150 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121855 for $99 its still a good contender but uses a lot more energy. Also the raw power from the HD 6970 is more than double according to http://www.hwcompare.com/17167/geforce-gtx-750-vs-radeon-hd-6970/ Since i do not own either of the 3 cards i cannot test and see how these cards perform on actual games.

  13. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131578 If any of you are looking for some cheap upgrade, here is a good deal. You must have at least 500w power supply to run this card safely.
  14. I like the sub-woofer. I am sure it makes a difference to the sound quality. Never seen a laptop with 4 speakers. The red looks awesome, reminds me of Asus' video cards.
  15. well its a budget build... and on top of that a combo. whats matters in this case the most is not the case (pun intended)
