  1. You make a really good case here. I'm starting to lean towards the 1000W P2. Thanks for a great answer (even if I guess it did not REALLY answer my question).
  2. That is quite impressive! I thought the internal temperatures where more closely related to the load. Hm...
  3. I'm going to run a 5960X with a Titan or two I've heard a lot of good things about EVGA's PSUs', but I've not been able to find charts over what load the fan hits thus I've not felt confident that it is passive longer than the Corsair HX or RM (which will go on under 40 % load according to Corsairs webpage). Correct, I do not need 1000W to power my system. But having much headroom will let the PSU work under less load in proportion to it's maximum, more often than not being more quiet (especially for semi passive solutions).
  4. I'm buying a PSU for my new build, and are deciding between the Corsair HX1000i and RM1000. Which one is better? My priorities: Silence (under what load it can run passive and how audible coil whine it has when the fan does not spin) Noise level when the fan is spinning Performance The price difference is insignificant. I don't care about Corsair Link. I'm planning on having the system a couple of years. Thanks! PS. Sorry if this has already been posted. I CAN NOT find the search button
  5. Can we expect a 850 evo to be launched?
  6. My favorite feature of the Z2 is easily the waterproofing! It's a great phone in many other aspects as well, but this is one thing that I really feel is missing on next to every other phone out there! How can we allow a piece of technology to cost like $600 when it can even break by being in your pocket while it's raining? It's insane! Therefore this is my favourite thing with it I have never heard of dbrand, so my favorite thing about them is clearly that they sponsored this video. Not only because I like LTT videos, but because it makes me happy to see companies that understand how to reach out to people. These days giving me a free video to watch is much more appreciated than an ad or so! They push ads on my face --> go away, you are in the way for me! They gave me something I like (sponsored a video) --> I might look into what they are doing.
  7. I don't trust peasants' boxes on my network Hm. Locally I'm okay with DNLA. Maybe I'm wrong now, but does DNLA even work over Internet?
  8. As for now I'm OK with slow spinning fans to get some airflow is acceptable, but I'm really looking forward to the day when one can have the best tier of components and yet have it completely free of moving parts.
  9. What protocols do plex use aka. is it reasonable secure?
  10. That sounds like a really neat solution actually. Will any Quadro card do, or are the lowest end ones not good enough?
  11. Wow. K2000 doesn't even compare to gaming cards performance wise. Hm. Would it be possible to run acceleration on a GeForce but drive the display output off of a Quadro series card (maybe like a Quadro K600 or something other cheapo)? Another thing: Is 10 bpc a thing on AMD gaming cards? I guess their FirePro's is as incredibly over priced as Nvidias Quadros...?
  12. Hi there peoples! I'm in the planning stages of my next PC, but I really don't know what graphics card I should get. It will be a rather lavish, silent, water cooled and productivity centered build. I do a lot of photo and video editing, and some 3D rendering. The most played game on my Steam account is Worms Armageddon at a whopping 18 h played time (my point is that gaming performance is irrelevant to the point that no card that is suitable for rendering and hardware acceleration is too bad for the little I play). The graphics card will be accompanied by an Intel Haswell-E. I would also like to point out that I'm not a big fan of changing parts every now and then, so I want something that is as future proof as possible. Things I appreciate in life (especially when it comes to graphics cards): + 10 bpc¹ + solid Linux drivers + not having to do extra hacks to make things work² + VGA passthrough³ + double precission, ECC and other things that are goodies for productivity + decent 3D rendering speeds + that Adobe Mercury Engine is fluent and that video rendering fly. Things that I don't care about in life (especially when it comes to graphics cards): - Gaming performance - that the card says Nvidia or AMD - energy efficiency. These are more of guidelines than actual rules, while bold are more important than other things. If you think that x [is not a good thing]/[nothing worth bothering about]/[not as worthwhile as y that you can get instead], please hit me the hardest you can with some good arguments for your cause and I might change my mind! My budget is around $400-$500, but if some more expensive card is vastly superior and costs more (say up to about $1000), it's not completely out of question. Also I don't know whether to go with one or two cards, so some feedback on that would also be nice. So... What GPU should I choose? PS. Some input on how to get the card water cooled (like what water block that is good and will fit or if there is some pre mounted from EVGA etc.) would be appreciated! -------------------------------------------------------------- ¹ 10 bit per color, also known as "30-bit Deep Color". Right now I don't own a 10-bit panel, but the day I buy one I'd really like to skip the trouble of investing in a new GPU and swapping a card in my water cooled setup. Do note that GeForce card does not seem to support 10 bpc in Premiere Pro or Photoshop. ² Zero tolerance against hardware hacks, "accepted" software hacks (like adding a card in cuda_supported_cards.txt for Premiere Pro) doesn't bother me though. ³ A list that I don't know how correct it is: http://www.overclock.net/t/1307834/x...phics-adapters
  13. Will there be 80mm-variants of these??? Edit: I guess the answere is no.
  14. I just realised how great it is that oculus belongs to Facebook - that's someone that can defend them from Apple!
  15. Hi! I'm looking to buy a new keyboard, and Corsair Vengance K70 looks really appealing. K95 is quite similar, but one major difference is that it has macro keys. Since I rarely game I first looked away when I saw those extra buttons on the side, but then the thought hit me that "Hm... Maybe they could be good for something...?". What are your opinions and experiences? Are they good for anything outside of gaming? For example I do edit a lot of photos and video with Adobe programs (Master Collection and Lightroom) - maybe macro keys could be good for the workflow; binding buttons to shortcuts, tools and even macros? Please write what you think, and how, if at all, you have had use of macro keys outside of gaming.
