  1. Ok, cool. I think i'll go with that then. Thanks for the help ?
  2. That looks like a nice option. It fits a regular psu as I understand?
  3. Hey there, LTT community! With pretty favorable dram pricing and generally nice prices overall i was looking into building a separate tiny home server / encoding pc for some personal projects and streaming. My initial plan was: - Ryzen 2600 - 8gb of ram (not sure if i need 16 for those tasks) - 256gb nvme ssd - Linux as an OS, since i plan on using OBS with AVerMedia Live Gamer Portable and that capture card has Linux support My current desktop is liquid cooled and is very quiet and i'm kinda hesitant to go with purely aircooled system for the server, but most of the "shoebox" cases do not have enough clearance to install the liquid cooler alongside a gpu, and since 2600 doesnt have an internal gpu - i need to use at least some kind of gpu in there (i got an RX550 "plug", so i planned to use that just to output stuff to my second monitor) Generally speaking i'm looking for any suggestions on the initial config, willing to swap/expand on any of the points and asking for some input on these particular topics: - Which case should work well? I have an NZXT H700 already on the desk and i don't want another tower, so i'm looking for something smaller that i can put on the desk behind my monitors (they're on the boom arms, so there should be enough space for slim, "console-like" cases. Looking for an AiO mounting support - How hard is it to cool the 2600? I do not plan on overclocking, but i do plan on encoding with the "faster" x264 preset, which will have a significant load on the CPU, so i'm concerned about noise if going with aircooling. - Does it make sense to go with Ryzen for this particular use-case? The amount of cores is very appealing for a home server / encoding machine, especially with the price. But the need to also put a gpu into the same case limiting the aio installation options is a bit concerning - Recommendations for the PSU, as i've never used a small form-factor PSU and not really sure what to look at, and if there are any differences from the regular PSUs (i do have a full blown BeQuiet Straight Power 11 550W that i can reuse, but it won't fit any slim case, but sharing just so you're aware that it's an option i have) In terms of budgets and locations: - I'm in Russia, but i can import up to $500 of non-bulky parts from US, so you can safely look for pricing on Amazon / Newegg. - There is no real budget limit for this particular use-case: i'm willing to spend up to $1k which should be like way more than enough for a box like this. I looked at HP microservers and all that, but they're pretty loud from what i've read online and feel pretty underpowered for their price. But if you think that's a better solution based on your own experience - i'm pretty open to those as well.
  4. Thank you. Those answers are just what I was looking for =)
  5. So, as a person who played on a monitor for my whole life, after trying to dive into the world of TVs, I was overwhelmed by all those 1000hz marketing stuff, a bunch of different "enhancers", suspiciously looking HDR solutions on non-OLED panels and such, so I really need an advice here. I have around $500 (US), and that is what I'm looking for: A 4k tv Fast enough, so I can play games on it (for dem consoles) Around 43'' in size No sound required 3 hdmi ports would be cool So my questions are: Are the claims for HDR on non-OLED panels even worth investigating? Can you get a decent enough 4k TV at this price point? Should I bother finding something with android-tv? or it is better to use plex client on my console, and roll with that? How do they handle 4k60? hdmi 2.0 only, or display port on TVs is the thing? Sorry if the questions sound dumb to you, but I'm really a noob in TVs =/ Any advice or (even better) links to the actual products are appreciated. Thanks!
  6. I'm modernizing my basement setup, was thinking about either TV or a projector, but the latter was barely possible, since I don't have enough space and proper mounting points for a good one. But LG's new one seems like a dream choice, since it can sit rather close to the screen and produce great image... 10/10 would comment again Thx for the giveaway!
  7. My old 780 keeps me from top scores, i Guess. Rig Name: Thunderstruck CPU: i7-2600 (non-K) @4.3Ghz GPU: MSI GTX780 Lightning Ram: 16Gb Corsair 1666Mhz Average fidelity: 4.6
  8. That's why I attached CPU-Z report which clearly displays that I got 4231.1Mhz Core speed (41.0 x 103.2 MHz) and with my measurements I got 4.3 Ghz max. 4.5 wasn't really stable, I also overclocked memory, but just a bit, it won't really go higher than 1650mhz.
  9. Hi there! I'm running a 4-year-old PC with an i7-2600 (non-K), on a Z68 chipset board, the graphics are provided by the MSI's gtx 780 Lightning. And lately I felt like my games are running a bunch slower then they should. I cleared up all the useless junk, so my casual CPU consumption (when not creating stuff) is about 7-10%, so that bg process shouldn't be an issue. UPD: To clarify, I'm running overclock, with average speed of 4231.1Mhz Core speed (41.0 x 103.2 MHz) (sometimes 4.35). But the fact is - I have a 1333mhz memory (16gb of that), and I've read that in the most recent games, memory, actually, makes a difference (which was barely noticable before), at least that what digital foundry found out lately. I've googled a bit and discovered, that my CPU can run memory up to 2000mhz+ pretty easily, even though the speeds in the spec. lists are set to 1600mhz max. So, after all that, I have two questions: will I benefit from semithing like this 32gb kit: 32Gb DDR-III 2133MHz Kingston HyperX Savage (HX321C11SRK4/32) (4x8Gb KIT), in games in particular? And will I be even able to run that thing on that old of a hardware? If you want to ask, why I need 32gigs of ram, the answer is simple, I work with video, like a lot, so I consume it pretty fast. Attached cpu-z and dxdiag reports for the full spec-lists Thanks a lot! cpu-z.txt DxDiag.txt
  10. Eastern Europe. So amazon, unfortunately - isn't the good option here due to all the taxes and customs headache. Well, I found a store with the first optoma here, so I'll stick to it, probably. Thanks a lot for the suggestions!
  11. Hi! Thanks for these. But optoma is not well-represented in my local stores (only Optoma HD141X is here) Is it going to be enough for a cloudy day, or an early evening operation? Any suggestions on other brands?
  12. Hi! I wanted to buy a projector, but searching the internet resulted in a ton of options and only one recommendation - be careful when buying one. So, I wanted to ask LTT community for some good options, as I'm sure we have some wall projector owners in here =) My budget is around 900-1000 usd. I already have a screen. Projector is supposed to be attached to a mount, sitting upside down, about 3-4m from the wall. And I want to play games on it, sometimes. 3D - is optional, but an ability to work in a high ambient light environment - is a top priority. Thanks a lot!
  13. Never thought that anything could be better than M7, but I was totally wrong. M8 - amazing phone, so beautifully crafted, and I literally LOVE that color. So I don't even know what to choose as my favorite thing about it. Will be so happy. Just imagine how cool is that: M8 + Pebble steel (got one) + Jaybird Bluebuds X. Anyways - thanks for giveaway Linus!
  14. It costs nearly $700 in my local stores. I can afford only S27C590H but it doesn't seem to be too good =(
