  1. You do realize at this current moment there are no g-sync or free sync monitors at this resolution, Close, yes, but this resolution, no. Also if your frames are dropping to these kinds of levels you are doing things very wrong, turn stuff down or get more GPU power. Like we have been doing, prior to variable refresh. Benchmarks are nice and all, but no one here would be foolish enough to run a game at such a low framerate, Hell you'd be better off going to console.
  2. Nvidia I have no doubt would never license g-sync to AMD, nor will they equip their cards with DP 1.2a, not sure how this is AMD's fault. 2 standards is certainly not good for the industry, nor the consumer locking customers into one ecosystem. As you point out, now you have to buy a new GPU & monitor now to make the switch.
  3. I'm not going to directly link it but if you go onto Tek syndicate forums you can pick up win 7/8 for around $25
  4. I've had no problems with my dealings with G2A. Regarding G2A shield it is insurance you may never need it but for a price it is worthwhile, just incase something does go wrong.
  5. It's being shipped by 10 beautiful virgins on a bed of pillows filled with Icarus feathers. These things don't come cheap.
  6. No one has asked what resolution the OP is running?
  7. Good to hear you got it sorted out. Got to be honest Avast is really bad, I have lost count of how many PC's/laptops I have had to nuke with Avast installed. Microsoft security Essentials is a much better free AV. Personally I use Kaspersky Pure this is my 2nd year on it, previously Kaspersky IS. This is the 4th year on Kaspersky and nothing has got through on 3 PC's. Post your SSD results when you get then done.
  8. OK download, unzip ( make sure you unzip it to a folder) & run the program from the previous post. It will read every file it on the drive. you will get a result read speed graph with the average read speed when it is finished. It will also put an image of the result into the folder you unzipped the program into. It looks like this. This is the result from one of my SSD's. Average read speed is 227MB/s a health one should be around 540MB/s on a SATA 3 connection. Post your result on here.
  9. I see in your sig you have an 840 EVO. Some of these drives, including mine, are exhibiting slowdowns in read performance in old files which could be a contributing factor. Please note this occured after Samsung "fixed" the issue with the previous patch. Download and run SSDReadSpeedTester and check your read speeds. (In the 1st post) http://www.overclock.net/t/1512915/read-speeds-dropping-dramatically-on-older-files-benchmarks-needed-to-confirm-affected-ssds If it is really bugging you you can used DiskFresh to refresh the files on the drive or wait till Samsung makes attempt 2 which is due soon.
  10. Using public torrents in this current environment is rather risky to say the least.
  11. There is no problems buying used.Personally I prefer to buy & sell through forums such as OCAU & Atomicmpc here in Oz, as you will find it is inhabited by fellow tech junkies. All of the equipment I have bought over the years is still working fine. heres a quick list 2x Seasonic PSUs 4x Seagate constellation ES 1TB hard drives (had these delivered to me by the seller) These all had very low power on time and I had bought from him before. AMD 6870 this card had been in the floods in QLD, picked it up for $20 damn thing still works, at that stage 6870 were still selling 2nd hand for around $130 ish. 3 cases CM stacker 830 + 2x Silverstone LC-17 3x CPU's Xeon 1260L, AMD Phenom X6 1055T 95w, Q8400 motherboards, MSI 790fx-gd70, gigabyte 990FXA UD3, Intel DX48BT2 2x Dual HD TV tuner cards As long as your careful you wont have any issues.
  12. Nice PR spin, makes him out to be a good guy, however he is in charge of one of, if not the world richest companies, what are they doing about it? Throw some money in the ring otherwise it's all lip service.
  13. It's not just that we have the Foxtel monopoly, Which is why the NBN was lobbied against as this would provide a true alternative to the Cable/satellite provider. NEtflix isn't the holy grail as Foxtel has sole rights to GOT. Anyhow the solution for downloaders is VPN and a seedbox. Instantly all that traffic is not on your connection and you download from the seedbox via encrypted VPN. I did this and I was able to drop down to a cheaper plan so end result all up it casts me a extra $5 for the extra layers of protection.
  14. Personally I use 2 pin fan headers with a molex to 3pin adapter, The advantages are it is much smaller connector and if I want to connect a few strip in series, I can easily use connectors between the strips. so if a strip needs to be replaced it's a much easier operation, rather than having to remove the lot to desolder and replace.
  15. Coolermaster stacker 830 has an aluminum removable tray I picked up my case 2nd hand for $50AUD
  16. I'd wait for the moment, AMD's 300 series is due soon this will push prices down on existing R200 cards in runout. And we'll see what effect they have on Nvidia's prices. Oh and ignore advice from blatant fanboys
  17. Whether or not people do or do not have the 970 presently. It does concern all of us. We cannot have a repeat of these events in the future. Remember they have done this before and got away with it, not this time.
  18. Comparing a super car that only a few can afford, versus a mid range card that most PC gamers can afford isn't a great example. Do you not find it odd that Nvidia made no official statements, on what was there highest volume newest card. But instead passed out press releases. Sounds like plausible deniability. Yes they only people that are going to win out of this instance is the lawyers. However Nvidia might choose not to do the same thing in the future, which is good for the consumer in the long run. One other thing no one seems to want to consider is what effect did the 970 have upon it's competitor? If we were given the proper information at the start, some may have chosen differently, others like yourself would have still chose the 970 for the low TDP. We all have different needs, but correct information is necessary. Some people may never tax the GPU to hit that 3.5 GB barrier, others will. Also we have no idea what games in the future will require. Sadly consumers are becoming more like sheep, Apple v Droid, Nvidia v AMD, Intel v AMD etc. They all do the same thing, some do it better than others. None of them are angels. One thing in common, they just want your money. Nor do any of these companies reward you for being loyal to them.
  19. Interesting timing to say the least. Distract the public from another issue with a lesser one.
