  1. try running "sfc /scannow" in terminal with admin mode. that might help. you can try enable/disable the icon in settings. can you see the battery info in the mobility center?
  2. can you right click on it or is all forms of interaction not working? can you hover over the icon and show the message? can you get into the mobility center thing in windows?

Math blue english yellow science green SS was anything.
  4. its unlikely this will find anything, but open task scheduler and see if you can see anything that is causing your system to restart automatically

    Hey nice

as a member of the <3.0 gpa gang, I feel that. its not a good feeling, but I understand.
  6. heres what I know from my very limited knowledge. this bug is specific to a plugin in java used for creating logs and metrics for java applications. So, if you dont have the plugin (or java) installed, you are not venerable to it. if somebody did gain access to it, they get root access. so unless they set up some sort of app that runs when you turn your computer on, restarting it should remove their access. for somebody to use log4j against you, a java application has to be running on it and also be exposed to the internet. take everything I say with a grain of salt. I do not know what im talking about
  7. in the mining application config file, are you able to change the memory speed or does it stay at 5001 no matter what the config file says?
  8. I wouldnt use it for anything. Its just not doing anything right now so either remove it or make it more accurate? idrk how else to explain
  9. so if that application is not open, then you get problems with the speed?
  10. you are gaming and mining at the same time?
  11. exactly my point that I was trying to make but I guess I didnt explain well enough. I think it should either be more precise/accurate (because its current state doesnt work well to account for such large number of users) or remove it entirely because we dont actually need it in the 1st place
  12. buying a prebuilt means it will have features out of the box, lots of offsite access features as well. building one yourself takes a lot of time to set up networking wise and you will not have any support if you have issues. That being said, id still prefer building one myself if you have the patience for it
  13. windows will not allow you to do that for whatever reason. You will need to download a partition manager application and do it that way. it will take a long time for the process to be over, and your computer may be in an unusable state while the process happens (depending on which program you use)
  14. that was not really my objective. the reason I brought it up was basically why have it in the first place if half of the ranks have the same percentile? it only differentiates people in the lower half of the ranks. I did not want to add it because of elitism, it just doesn't feel useful once you reach enthusiast I dont know how well my point comes across because im bad at explaining things
  15. as far as I know, the percentile each profile shows does not get more accurate than 1%. and as far as I can tell, everyone in enthusiast or above is already top 1%. so, once people reach top 1, can it slowly go into things like top 0.5, top 0.1, top 0.01 etc? Edit: once the persons rank is <1000 (they are in the top 1000 users) would you switch to just saying top xxxx? can we also know how many users are on the forum (with at least 2 posts to prevent counting fake accounts?)
  16. there is no such thing as futureproofing. paying 2x for 20% more seems too much for me
  17. best thing you could do is just to reinstall the nvidia driver and see if it fixes it. your mining program might also be controlling it so try reinstalling that / check the config file?
  18. Its not really a thing. think of it kinda like virginity (lmao). its an imaginary thing. temperature is not affected by multiple installs.
  19. right now isnt really a good idea to build a computer. everything is either out of stock, or really overpriced due to shortages. unless you really cant hold out for about a year, its not going to be worth building on. A new GPU is out of the question at that budget no matter what.
  20. thats overpriced, but not unheard of for DS. They mostly make premium high end computers with hardline water cooling etc. so getting something cheap from them isnt really a good idea
  21. You should know that depending on the motherboard, using m.2 slots will disable the sata port which might be the reason for your issues. Check your motherboard manual/website for more details
  22. if you look a the specs of the mobo, it will specify a chipset. A-series (A320 in this case) cannot do overclocking. B series and Z series does have OC. I would also make sure that the motherboard supports the correct cpu you will be using since the bios update can affect this. Use "PCPartPicker" website to help you with this. personally, I would stay away from asrock motherboard. I like gigabyte, asus, and some msi ones. in terms of finding the right budget, since I am not getting an expensive CPU, the mobo does not matter that much for overclocking since many will work well. If you go for higher end CPU like 5800x or better or 11700k or better, then it does matter more
  23. I'm just going to be straight up honest. with only a 4c/8t cpu, and no dGPU, I dont think this computer is capable of streaming while playing games unless you are playing 2d/2.5d games. However, if you would like to share what kind of games you will be playing/streaming, I can try help what you can do to get the most out of it. 1) go to the BIOS and make sure XMP is enabled 2) dont download unnessesary apps 3) check your startup items and disable everything you dont need 4) make sure nothing you dont need is running in the background when playing games advanced steps: 1) make sure TRIM is enabled on your ssd 2) debloat the windows installation 3) undervolt the cpu 4) see if there is an option to increase performance/clock speed in the bios 5) use linux if you know what you are doing
  24. That sounds like normal behavior. When you start to play a game, the computer has to do lots of calculations on the CPU and the GPU. doing all of that work produces heat. To prevent damage from the heat, the fans spin up to remove the heat and get fresh air to cool the computer back down. This only happens on AC power (and max performance) because when on battery, doing lots of calculations will drain the battery very quick so the computer will slow down. When it does that, it also produces less heat so the fans dont spin. Does that make sense?
  25. Proof of stake. Currently BTC and ETH are PoW which means they require computation to produce new blocks (ie mining with gpus). POS (proof of stake) is different because its a complicated algorithm that requires you to purchase the asset (ETH in this case) to contribute to the blockchain. It does not consume your ETH, you just need to have it in the 1st place and you will get a small bonus everytime you are chosen as the validator. I am summarizing it in like 3 sentences but its a lot more complicated. if you want to understand it better, lots of YT videos exist. Basically with POS mining will not be a thing anymore, so miners will have to either mine another PoW crypto, or sell their GPUs/ASICs. Think of BlockFi as a "savings" crypto account. When you make a blockfi account and fund it, the asset is not held by you technically. BlockFi takes it, loans it out to people, then they make money from the interest, and give you part of it. almost exactlly like a savings bank account but significantly more APY and also not insured since its not FDIC. again, I am simplifing this and if you want to learn more, numerous YT videos can explain it much better than me. I trust BlockFi and Gemini, so I am confortable. If you arent, then regular markets still exist Hey if you can get a free 1060, then theres no reason not to mine with it. You can always sell it later once ETH transitions to POS. when mining, literally any computer will work if you can plug the 1060 in. Mining requires at most 1-2gb ram, 4-5gb vram, 1-2 cpu cores, 20gb storage. I would suggest YT videos by Coin Bureau and Graham Stephan. CB is purely stuff about crypto, GS is general investing stuff. In terms of their bias, because BS is a crypto channel, they are very bullish on crypto so beware of that. GS is more of a light hearted investing channel and arent as serious as Kevin oleary.
