I'm a 20-something college student in Ohio who spends way too much time on the internet. I'm primarily a Windows guy, but I also have several Linux distributions that I toy with on occasion. I dabble in a bit of everything when it comes to computers. I've done some basic web design, programming, graphic design, music making, networking, system builds... I could go on. I'm always eager to learn more about computers and get even better at what I do.

  1. Done! I've been looking at a projector but none of the traditional style would work because I have a smaller room that I can't ceiling mount anything in. One of these would be absolutely perfect. Hope I win!
  2. Yes, that's always an option. I figured if there existed a single arm, it would look cleaner than having three and I'd like it better. But in case there's no option for a single arm, I was looking at three of these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01EH1F03E/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=TX8SCO4TVNSJ&coliid=IY4QRDBLRHBXY&psc=1
  3. Hello all, I'm sick of looking down at my monitors, the built-in stands take up way too much space on my desk, and I really don't want to use risers if I can help it. Time to get them mounted to an arm. I'm looking to get a hardware recommendation for a good monitor arm that will support my monitor setup (or to see if one even exists). I have a three-monitor setup, but because of the size of the monitors, I'm not sure if there exists a single arm that will fit all three. I have: One LG 34UC88 34-inch ultrawide curved monitor (in the middle) Two Acer K272HULbmiidp 27-inch monitors (one on each side, in normal 16:9 orientation, not vertical) I've seen JayzTwoCents use an ultrawide with two 24-inch side monitors, but if I recall his arm barely fit that configuration, and my side monitors are bigger than that. So I'm wondering if anyone knows of any single monitor arm that can be used with my setup. I'm fine with one that has feet on the desk or one that screws to the desk. I'd preferably like to have the side monitors angled in toward me instad of flat against the edge of my middle monitor. Any recommendations?
  4. Hi all, I'm in the process of upgrading my workspace in a major way and I'm looking for some help with regards to which GPU I should buy. I recently purchased an LG 34UC88 ultrawide monitor (3440x1440 resolution) and am eagerly waiting for it to arrive. I also have, from my previous setup, two 24-inch 1080p screens. My plan is to have a triple monitor setup with the ultrawide in the middle and the two others on the sides. Obviously this adds up to lots of pixels needing to be pushed, but I'm not sure what I need in terms of graphics cards. Right now I have nothing - I'm only using my laptop with Intel HD graphics. But luckily that laptop is the Razer Blade Stealth, so I'm going to be purchasing my first GPU alongside the Razer Core to power this setup. I'm no gamer - pretty much every game I play is on a Nintendo console instead of on the PC. So this setup is more for productivity. The only thing I might want to do in terms of gaming is emulation. It would be lovely to be able to emulate games, and I'd only want to do that on one screen. I'm not looking to play the latest AAA games in surround, so I'm probably not someone who needs the absolute highest-end GPU. I just don't know where to start. Should I get NVidia or AMD? I'm thinking AMD since this is a freesync monitor, but again, I'm probablynot likely to use that feature anyway. How high end of a GPU should I get? Should I buy current gen now or wait until the next gen is released? All help is appreciated!
  5. For sure the most interesting thing is the size. It would be great to have that kind of computing power without needing to find space for a traditional desktop. Good luck to everyone!
  6. My favorite highlighted feature was definitely the 4K video. The camera on that phone looks amazing! Certainly hope I'm the lucky winner!
  7. My Vessel username is Aether176. I've watched and liked these videos: https://www.vessel.com/videos/LCoY5zfFf and https://www.vessel.com/videos/JYZEYDYx0 Here's the problem though... I didn't sign up using the http://vessel.com/linustechlink. I saw an article on The Verge the morning that this giveaway was posted that said Vessel was free for 72 hours. And I knew that LMG was going to be starting to use Vessel soon, so I jumped on the chance to get it free. I saw the giveaway after I'd already signed up on my own. And I'm not going to make a separate account on Vessel just for a giveaway, sorry. Hopefully if I'm selected for a prize you can overlook me not using your link. Keep up the good work Linus!
  8. Now this thing would make a great little HTPC. Certainly hope I win!
  9. My favorite part of the bundle is the all in one water cooler. All the benefit of water cooling with none of the hastle of making your own loop. Hope I win!
  10. I found Linus' channel when I was doing research on Powerline Ethernet adapters. He had a good video comparing it to hardwired and wireless solutions. I liked the video and his personality, so I started looking toward his videos for other computer hardware as well. Eventually, I subscribed to both LTT and NCIXcom just because I enjoyed the styles of videos Linus made. I watched almost every video he posted. I remember when Slick replaced Cameraman, when Edzel joined as an intern, the era of videos in the garage, and just about everything else that's happened since then. I'm subscribed to all 3 LMG channels (4 if you include Cat Tips), and will keep watching the videos for as long as they're being made. Huge fan, Linus. Keep up the great work. Certainly hope I win something!
  11. I'm not a fan of non-stock android, but that dedicated camera button is a great touch. I hate how long it takes to just take a simple picture on most phones. Hours I win this one!
  12. Maybe you can give me your thoughts then? I had a couple lingering questions before I buy one. See my post (2 above yours) if you're willing. I'd really appreciate it.
  13. So, Linus, are you perhaps able to comment a little bit more on this device as a note taking tablet? None of the reviews I've read/watched have gone into any real detail on the stylus. I'm a college student, and I love the idea of taking handwritten notes digitally. I'm currently using a Surface Pro as my note taking device, but the battery life is just abysmal. I have to find outlets during my lunch breaks just to be able to squeeze out enough juice to last through all of my classes. So I've been looking for a replacement for a while now. I looked at that 8 inch Asus tablet with Wacom pen, but the thing that stopped me from purchasing it was the Windows OS. Don't get me wrong, I love Windows, but I just don't think it's as good on a tablet as iOS and Android. Sure, I could get the full OneNote desktop app and it would be great at note taking, but speaking from experience with the Surface, using it as an actual tablet for consumption is quite a lackluster experience. I just can't justify spending another $300 on a device that would only have one purpose. I'd always avoided Android tablets in the past since I use OneNote for all of my notes, and the OneNote app was a bit lacking. But a couple of days ago, Microsoft pushed a beta to the Android version of OneNote that finally added handwriting support. So, would you recommend this as a note taking tablet? How was the writing experience in comparison to the Surface Pro 3? Is the software implementation of the stylus compatible with the new OneNote beta's handwriting feature?
  14. I was researching Powerline adapters and I found an old video with Linus comparing one to Ethernet and WiFi. I liked his personality so I checked out some of his other videos and subscribed.
