  1. I like watching Buildzoid. He's given run downs of boards and has shown what their max safe wattage draw would be calculated off how the VRM is built. For a side overclocking project, I have a AsRock 890FX Deluxe 5. I was wondering how I could find out what the max wattage to push through the board, without it it frying, was. The specs page lists up to 140 watt CPUs. So I could obviously go that far, but how much further? This all would determine if I stick with the current Phenom ii x4 I have, or if I'll source a 8 core Vishera FX chip for it. If I can get 200-220 watts out of the board (with VRM airflow that it), then I'll get the FX chip.
  2. Yes. The AGP version is 128, and the PCIe one is 256. I have a 2nd XP box that isn't put together, and got a 6800 GS PCIe card for it. Is a early socket 775 board that can only use Pentium 4's and Pentium D's. It's top P4, however, runs at 3.8Ghz. I'm missing RAM and a competent PSU for it to run the 6800.
  3. Yes yes..... good titles. Just remembered TES Morrowind.
  4. Need a list of titles for my new windows XP gaming build. I have a few on Steam, but anything anyone can think of would be appreciated. Say, the old games you'd find on early 2000's library computer- like Freddie fish and put put. All the way up to stuff like Halo and starwars battlefront (the good old one). Specs: Pentium4 HT @ 3.4Ghz Nvidia 6600GT AGP 4GB 400Mhz RAM 75GB SATA HDD Dual IDE DVD drives (because XP box) StarWarsBattlefront2 plays real solid on the setup. Running everything in 720p till I get a nice trinitron for cheap. Now why you may ask? Windows Xp games tend to not work on windows 10...so, why not? EDIT: Posted on the XP box.
  5. Ok, great to know. FOLLOW UP question. Any reason why I shouldn't buy the RM750i as a Corsair refurb? It's only 75$, and is very tempting.
  6. I want to get the HX750i, or the variant without corsair link, for the tight voltage ripple it allegedly has. Have wanted one for ages. Is there a reason not to get it, or to get say, a EVGA G2 instead?
  7. Exact model is a Sapphire Nitro RX480 8G D5 OC-11260-20-20G Got one of the cards form the first run. Had it pre-ordered off mass-drop. Am seriously considering selling it since the prices shot up
  8. Does anyone have, or know of, a compatibility list? The RX 480 model I have came out all of a month before the 580's did. So it seems like it'd be a good candidate.
  9. Some proprietary OEM board from a Dell Dimension 8300. Oh and my bad. Is a Geforce 7800 GS. The error readout on the back of the board is giving me random codes every time I try and boot it.
  10. Got my AGP FX 6800 GS in, plugged it in, anddddd all I'm getting is a black screen. The fan on the card (aswell as the system fan) are running themselves at full speed, but I'm not getting any video out. Might there be some kind of BIOS incompatibility? Was I sold a faulty card? The FX 5200 I have works fine in it. Even put it back in to make sure I didn't some how damage the board or the PSU- nope, works fine with it.
  11. I just bought a GeForce 7800 GS, and was wondering if there's a way to flash it to a 6800, or at least let it be seen as one so I could use the windows 98 drivers. Ideas?
  12. What memory modules does Corsair's LPX 3000mhz RAM use? In particular the 8GBx2 kit. No one who's reviewed it has said what what I've seen.
  13. hmm... do you know of a 6pin female to 6 pin female adapter? (I know technically they're considered male) Could get one of those sketchy molex to 6 pin cables and run it backwards through that. Would a y adapter work for that, or do they not touch the same contacts to share a connection across them both? EDIT: Found the adapter on eBay, by a guy that I assume makes all the cables himself as I wasn't able to find it anywhere else. Pricey for a cable, but still.
  14. As always there's the eager first guy who posts without reading (not sarcasm. Is funny to me) Spec sheet for the exact fan- http://partner.delta-corp.com/products/FanUploads/Specification/PFC1212DE-F00(REV02)--5500.pdf Draws up to 57.6 watts, operating voltage of 8V to 13.2V, and moves up to 252.8 CFM. I made sure to check what it was before ordering it- I'm not getting no gimped 5 volt fan. Seller actually mislabeled it though. Had it listed as the 200CFM variant. They must've missed the "F00" part tacked onto the end of the model name, or just sent me the wrong one by mistake. Which is good, since that's the one I wanted anyways, but couldn't find anyone selling it. I'm using a triple rail PSU. Each 12 volt rail does 220 watts at 18 amps max. 1st powers the board/paraphernalia- CPU is a 4690k @4.4Ghz (110 watts), 6 HDDs, 3 regular 120mm fans, a SATA PCIe card, and a BluRay drive. 2nd powers a Radoen HD 7950 (which I imagine draws some degree of power from the board) 3rd use to power a 2nd 7950, but it got put in a rig I'm building for a friend. SO the first rail might as well be maxed, the 2nd is maxed, and the 3rd is the only empty one- which only has two 6pins coming off of it native. Spec page listed. Says the input current is 4.8A max. THANK YOU for the link. Was searching an hour for that and couldn't find it. Yeah I know not to directly hook it to the board X3 Hence why I made this post searching for a proper adapter. Oh and I'm waiting for a fan grill I ordered to get here to put on it before I power it up, cause at 5500 RPM it will chop a finger off. I have no idea what to use it for. Ever since I saw the videos on youtube of people playing with 5500RPM Delta fans I was entranced by them. Knew I had to have one.....so several years later I've now bought one off ebay for 13$ instead of paying the near 50$ sticker price. The fans on my GPU are dying though. So if I make it my front intake (and take the shroud off the GPU) then pure brute force of the fan should be able to keep it cool right? Maybe stick on my 212 EVO and OC further, but the vibration would probably break something if it's mounted directly on the 212.... mmm speculation.
  15. So yeah. I need a 6pin PCIe to 4 pin molex adapter. I bought one of the 120mm Delta 250 CFM monsters and need to power it. I have a spare rail I'm not using on my PSU and want to hook it up to that. ALSO need to know if there's such a adapter that lets you hook the PWM connector up to the board for RPM control, but it still draw power from a dedicated line. I've seen fans with the feature built in, but never a stand alone adapter.
