  1. Hello Linus tech tips forum users, Who here plays on ultrawide and what games? And how are you liking it? Just finished my new gaming pc: Ryzen 3700x and RTX 2080 And I am looking to upgrade my monitor. I originally planned to buy the LG 34GK950f but I am really torn by the games I play. Mostly: FPS games like Apex legends, CSGO, Battlefield 5, New Call of Duty modern warfare once it comes out and the occasional tomb raider, assassins creed, guildwars 2 Would you recommend the LG 34GK950f (3440x1440 @144Hz) ultrawide or the LG 27GL850 (2560x1440 @ 144Hz)? Kind regards, Alex
  2. Thanks! You make all the settings in the bios? Does that not fix all values to a specific value so the CPU cannot lower the voltage either? I have never used Ryzen master before.
  3. Also in Ryzen master the voltage seems quite high? (with apex legends running in the background.
  4. Hello Forum users, This weekend I built my new gaming system and started doing all driver installations. After everything was installed i also installed HWINFO64 to check is all my speeds and temperaures were ok. All I did was apply the XMP profile for my RAM and other than that I left the system stock. However now I noticed 3 things that concern me: 1) CPU temps and core voltages seem quite high? Reported voltages and temps are from playing 1 match of Apex Legends (running stock cooler) 2) Memory speed reported is only half of the XMP profile 3) HWINFO reports my CPU as an engineering sample (I bought it new from Amazon.de) PCPartPicker Part List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/N7fymq CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor Motherboard: Gigabyte X570 AORUS ELITE ATX AM4 Motherboard Memory: Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 Memory Storage: Intel 660p Series 1.02 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2080 8 GB GAMING OC WHITE Video Card Case: Lian-Li PC-O11 Dynamic ATX Full Tower Case Power Supply: Corsair RMx (2018) 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro OEM 64-bit
  5. Hey forum users! I am planning to build a new gaming pc but cannot decide on a motherboard. Am also open to general critics and insights but make sure they are constructive please! (Living in Belgium here) This rig will be primarily (99%) used for gaming: CPU: Ryzen 3700X GPU: Gigabyte RTX 2080 gaming OC (regular version as it is 90euro cheaper than Super) RAM: 16gb of corsair vengeance PRO rgb @3600MT and CL18 Case: Lian li PC-011 dynamic storage: Intel 660p NVMe SSD with 1Tb PSU: Corsair RM850x Monitor: LG 34gk950f (3440x1440 @144Hz) Motherboard: (210 euro + 30 euro steam card) Gigabyte X570 aorus elite OR (330 euro) Asrock X570 taichi I planned upgrades: - New Zen 3 CPUs when those come out next next year - New GPU once AMD or Nvidia launches something that can max that monitor - Extra NVMe SSD next year
  6. Thanks for the reply. Was also wondering about resell value and the increased memory speed for higher resolutions but i found some benchmarks on techgage for 3440x1440. https://techgage.com/article/nvidias-geforce-rtx-2080-super-at-1080p-1440p-ultrawide/6/ How are you liking that monitor btw? I am still kind of doubting between ultrawide and high refresh rate as i do actually play mostly: Apex legends, CSGO, PUBG, Tomb raider but mostly shooter games
  7. Hello fellow forum users! I am currently still rocking my first gaming build and it is time for a major upgrade. I am considering buying a LG 34GK950F monitor (3440x1440 @144Hz) and I want to use an RTX 2080 (Super) GPU. (Originally planned 2080Ti but even that cannot max 144Hz at ultra settings and pricing is stupid) All reviewers talk about a 5% performance increase over the standard 2080 which they say is ok because it comes at the same MSRP. HOWEVER... I live in Belgium and they are not the same price. RTX 2080 Gigabyte Gaming OC = 688 euro RTX 2080 SUPER Gigabyte Gaming OC = 766 (+11%) SO it is 11% more expensive do you guys and girls recommend buying a super card for the extra 5 percent performance (3-5 fps in most games) and hopefully being able tO re-sell it at a better price? or should I stick with the regular RTX 2080? Many thanks and sorry for the long post !
  8. Even with the most high end water cooling you still have a pump and fans on your radiators. Most newer GPU cooler designs limits the RPM of the fans to reduce noise so I don't think the answer is as easy as you make it out to be.
  9. Dear fellow forum users, *** GPU water VS AIR cooling *** With the launch of the the new Ryzen CPUs and hopefully reduced GPU prices in the coming weeks I am preparing to replace my old Gaming PC: - Intel I5-3570K (custom water cooling loop) - Gigabyte HD7970 GHz (standard Gigabyte cooler) - 8GB of Corsair DDR3 ram And I am looking at stepping into Ultrawide (3440x1440) gaming with: - AMD Ryzen 3700x or 3800x - Nvidia RTX2080(Ti) The goal of this build is to create a capable and QUIET! gaming PC When trying to select my parts I come to CPU cooling and there are many great videos and articles comparing water (AIO) and air cooling for CPUs like the video Linus made recently. HOWEVER for a gaming PC (my current one and I suspect new ones as well) The loudest part under gaming load will almost always be the GPU. Now for the big question. If we disregard price and only look to noise levels under load. What setup would be quieter? System A: Big CPU Aircooler + GPU with aftermarket design from MSI, Asus, ... System B: Custom water cooling loop for both CPU and GPU? Best regards, Alex
  10. I want one! They look so cool! and would make for a nice HTPC ^^
  11. I'm in! I would like to win this one to improve my PC's multi tasking.. escpecially when I am multitasking.
  12. I run 2 gigabyte 7970GHz at 5760x1080res and get 80 fps constant playing Battlefield4 with everything set to HIGH (not ultra). I have just tried running it with 1 card on ultra like GunnAthax did and he is right 1 7970 can handle battlefield4 on ultra at 5760*1080 but this also means you will get max 30fps with dips to 25 and peaks to 35fps AND your card will be working hard (100% capacity). Also worth mentioning is gameplay is not as smooth at 30 fps as it is on 80fps. So I would recommend 7970 in Xfire if you can afford it and want smooth gameplay on ULTRA settings (if i remember correctly i got about 55fps on ultra) or 1 7970 but run your game at HIGH settings... gameplay will be smoother and BF4 still looks badass at HIGH settings... I have no experience with 290X so i don't know how 1 290x will behave with BF4. Hope i helped!
  13. I bought it from Bol.com I have a good experience with the shop, they have a helpline that answers phone calls 24/7. Here is a link to the item, it is no longer 10% off though http://www.bol.com/nl/p/razer-kraken-7-1-expert-surround-usb-gaming-headset-pc/9200000019432005/
  14. So I have decided... placed my order on a Razer Kraken 7.1 (got another 10%off at local shop)... It should be here tomorrow... I will keep you guys updated on my experience... It should be good enough for all my gaming needs and if I end up disliking it for music I will probably be buying another Headphone after Christmas.
