Because no one who is able or willing to answer reads the thread. LTT isn't a 24-hour support service and no one is entitled to have their thread answered, regardless of "urgency" or "importance". It's also likely that threads aren't answered because regulars here are sick of answering the same questions over and over again. Talk about really annoying to deal with.

Do cheap Chinese foam acoustic panels work?
SSL replied to TechSquidTV's topic in Home Theater Equipment
Depends what you're using it for. Foam panels are of limited use even when they are "quality". -
It's for synchronizing audio devices to a master clock that determines the sampling rate, ensuring that there is low jitter and no time misalignment amonst the various D/A and A/D components. If you only have the one interface in the audio chain, you don't need a separate clock to manage multiple devices.

Looks fine to me, maybe your browser or ic is acting up? I will add in the RS headphone, although I will probably do it in a new wireless headphone section.

Finding an interface or mixer with a decent head out is not going to be easy, regardless of budget. IMO the modmic does not really warrant an interface, in part because it doesn't need a pre-amp which if half the point of getting such a device. If the OP really needs to get away from on-board ADC, then they should just get an Asus DGX soundcard and call it a day.
-
What does it matter? The answer will vary depending on who you ask. As of now, every headphone on the market has at least one issue with just the sound, to say nothing of ergonomics, features, build quality, and so on. Zeos sycophant identified. Try thinking for yourself for a change.

My recommendation thread is still up. You might want to increase your budget to $50-60 total in order to get some more options in reach. Apple earbuds are very bad and you can do much better even with this budget.

Sennheiser HD 6XXs are Restocking Again on July 10th!

I believe you can order directly from the Schiit site, otherwise they should have links to one or more Canadian distributors on the international section of their site as well. -

HD 600/650/6XX can benefit from better upstream gear, sometimes significantly - but only if you have music that isn't mastered to hell. O2/ODAC wouldn't be my first choice unless that's what you already have. Fulla 2 or Vali 2 are good options. -
You don't need to justify anything to me. I'm just informing you that while sampling opinions may make you feel better, it isn't necessarily going to be any more fruitful in determining what works for your ears in particular.
-
The question is, do YOU hear a difference? If you are not buying the headphones for your girlfriend, who cares what she thinks of them. It's certainly possible that your music is the limiting factor here. If you listen to modern, heavily compressed pop, there just isn't much in the way of detail to reveal with better headphones. Same goes for if you are using a compromised audio format, such as low quality mp3.
-
I find accuracy more "fun", others may like the coloration of boosted bass and treble. We can only describe the sound signature of these headphones in so many ways. At some point, you just have to try stuff in order to figure out how your preferences align with what other people are saying. Otherwise you have no point of reference.
-
Just buy something and sell it or even return it if it doesn't work out. Buying a headphone and getting it right the first go around is a matter of luck regardless of how many reviews you read or advice you are given. Why? Because everyone hears a little differently and has different preferences and priorities. My preference would be the HD 650 by far, because a smooth, coherent response combined with good technicalities trumps all. I use it for both gaming and music.

Vali as suggested. Even Fulla 2.
-
Yes, you can route all sound output through the interface, just like any other external DAC.
-
Does the monoprice amp actually sound good, though? Vali already has more power than most headphones would need.

990 is a better value. 1990 are not really worth 6 hundo imo. That said, they probably sound better overall.
-
What's the use case? Mobile on the go or sitting at computer like a tater tot?
-
How do you plan to upgrade from small budget speakers to small budget speakers? What IS your budget?
-
I have to say that "it depends". The Fiio E10K is indeed not worth getting. However, I have found that pairing an amp and DAC with a headphone depends as much upon the sound of the components as on the pure specs like power and so forth. An amp that makes a difference with one headphone may not be ideal for another. The Fulla 2 is pretty low risk, since even if it doesn't sound too different it has a lot of useful features.

At what % utilization do storage devices start to lose performance?
SSL replied to mikedubayou's topic in Storage Devices
The exact ratio depends on the controller, firmware, and amount of over-provisioning on the drive, but generally you want to leave 15-25% free to avoid performance degradation. -
Could be pad break-in on the M50X, also you might try the pleather pads on the DT 770. Or maybe the M50X just has more bass. Who knows.

I don't know if I'd go so far as to call them "great" answers, but sure, they're answers. From what I gather, the main reason that this technology hasn't yet seen the light of day is that they've been busy locking it down with patents before they start getting it into actual products. Great. That doesn't make the crowdfunding route any less of an eyebrow raiser. It still seems to me there is a lack of independent, substantive data on this technology relative to the claims that they are making.
-
If you're going to spend the cash on upgrading, I would go external - however, better to upgrade your headphone or speakers first if you don't already have something pretty good.
