My temps were all fine and dandy when I first got the cooler, hell I have idles of 35c, allot colder than the 50-55c idles with the stock cooler.
I was playing Farcry 5 when I noticed that my temps were getting into the 80's. (15-20% cpu usage) and to single out what was causing this, I ran Aida 64 on GPU stress only, my cpu went from ~50 to ~60, not that much.
I stressed just the CPU ~70-75c
I stressed the CPU and the FPU, 85c instantly, which slowly went up to 93-95c.
Curious as I usually am, I touch the heatsink, barely room temperature. I reach as far back as I can, no difference.
Decided to take the cooler off and remount it, maybe just a bad mount. The thermal paste was squeeze out to the sides and it looked like there was barely any in the center (I tighted the screws as much as possible until they stopped, like I normally do) This time, I put new thermal paste on, and screwed it in about 25-50%. (I also moved my gpu's radiator location) No temperature difference. I also took one of the fans off on the cpu cooler so I could touch the heatpipes near the base, only whenever I turned on the FPU bench and the cpu was at 93c did the heatpipes get just little under luke warm. I have no idea what the fuck is happening.

Is there a lot of paste that appears still on the TIM when you remove it? It might not be making flush contact due to either the bottom of the cooler and/or the IHS being not flat with eachother.
IE: there will be almost no paste on certain parts of the IHS, with other areas (usually the outermost parts) having a thin layer of paste or ever a decently thick layer.

@TVwazhere there was basically none on on any part of the ihs or heatsink when I lifted it, all of it squished out the sides.
-
@TVwazhere I said there was none, I said heatsink instead of cooler, but yk.

@TVwazhere after doing lots of testing on the cpu-side of things, I finally figured out a good solution for me, at least at the temperature it gets to.
4.3ghz CCD0
4.1ghz CCD1
1.1375v83-85c
When I stop the stresstest/when the benchmark ends, I noticed that temperatures drop from the 80c area to the 40c area in a second or less, could be the thermal paste just being shit? I used the paste that came with the cooler. Unsure rn.

@TVwazhere heatsink isn't warm, cpu is at 80-85, then stress test stops and cpu temp immediately falls to 45c in less than a second. It's amazing.

@TVwazhere Kinda, but its not that good of a cooler so it made sense it was overwhelmed. I'm gonna test my friends h100i v2 on my pc to see if it has similar issues.
