Can anyone explain to me how 18.6/32GB of ram is being used but 30.5/32GB of committed memory is in use? I don't have a pagefile.

    Committed includes memory being used for cache, though task manager sucks at displaying info on memory. Use Resource Monitor for a better visualization.

    When I run a big CFD simulation the program starts by ramping up RAM utilization, at first it allocated it until it has enough. Then it begins the computations. What are you running? It’s probably something that needs RAM memory to be available soon for use. First it allocated, then it utilizes it.

    I’ve never monitored it during a game. But the game has to load onto the RAM to run. Are you running it on crazy high settings? Can you share the task manager process tab sorted by memory?
