  1. I'm using UEFI, and my motherboard is a P8H77-I I'm about to try a BIOS update, maybe that will work. EDIT: I did BIOS update, and still have a 30s boot time from when windows logo appears to sign in. When I had Windows 8 installed it was almost instant compared to this. Any ideas? I'm running out of them
  2. yea, I thought after reading it, I'd go and check just for the heck of it. It has three options with RAID being one. still at a loss.
  3. I don't know if it helps, but this is the site I ended up finding and followed the steps, still nothing. http://www.registryrecycler.com/blog/2013/11/fix-slow-performance-issue-after-installing-windows-8-1/ So I came here. Edit: Besides the slow boot times, the system runs smooth, and I have yet to encounter any other issues.
  4. I'm currently using 2 SSDs in RAID 0, upgraded my OS from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1. Before my boot speeds were decent (not in RAID) but still off an SSD though now, when I boot, when the Windows emblem shows, it can take 30-40 seconds before I get to desktop. Is this normal? I tried the new user account, reinstalling the OS. Can't think of anything else, any ideas? edit: Build- 2600k, ASUS P8H77-I, 8GB Corsair RAM, GTX 670, Rosewill 750W PSU, 2 120 GB OCZ SSD in RAID 0
  5. iPad2 I thought it would be great, I was wrong. It was a cool toy, but after a week, I just never touched it. I gave it to my sister shortly after.
  6. Thank you all for the kind words over the build :D . Sorry if I responded late, was going to respond yesterday, but got sick :( not really noticable. I wouldn't say its loud, but my definition of loud might differ from others. If it helps I have a build with cougars in it, and its louder than this build.
  7. OK. Well I decided to build a mini-itx rig recently. Actually built it in March during spring break. Just barely getting around to posting it :) I intended it to be my mobile rig, so I could take home when I'm not in school. Some of it is out of parts laying around too :D. Anyway here are the specs. Case: CM Elite 120 CPU: i7-2600k (I had it sitting around from upgrading main rig to 3rd gen i7) RAM: Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz @ 1333 2x4 for 8gb Motherboard: Asus P8H77-i I didn't need the overclocking features on this one. Temps will varry too much to want to worry about it. PSU: Rosewill 750W 80Bronze. Another spare from upgrade earlier this year. GPU: Visiontek Radeon HD 7970 Storage: OCZ 120 gb SSD/ Seagate 1tb SSHD Day one when I got the case I stipped out all cables to prep for minor drilling HD cage gone Case and graphics card getting ready for painting Primer is going on (I forgot to take a photo of main colors being painted. Partially because at the time I didn't want friends to know color scheme. finished painted product Components going in. (the H70 isn't as bad as it looks in there. And its already spent 7 hours on the road and nothings bad happened. Temps are great too) GPU side of things PSU going in + cables Here it is hooked up to my TV (46")for couch gaming. (I routed a xbox wireless reciever to the inside so it'd clean up the wires on the outside.) and my monitor when I go back home (if I can't use my parents tv) Or when I go on a road trip (think its a 19")
  8. one that I can put together today and never have to upgrade to play tomorrows games Thats my true dream build :P but really, I aim to get two 690s(or w/e is out when I'm done with school) and make build with it. Really simple but I've always wanted a dual chip card.
  9. I never looked at a computer as being overkill as without looking at what its being used for. If its a media computer then having high end gear in it (imo) would be considered overkill. Gaming, not so much.
  10. I think its about on par with my car. Intake for my car cost $400 and exhaust cost ~$1500. Can't forget the gas it takes to fill her up each week (from half tank ~$35-$40). Then there was the paint work. Then we know the avg price for a computer
  11. I should add this in. The build in the nVidia case was build about 3 years ago, just upgraded over the years. (mobo/cpu/gpu) + more storage space. The intel build was completed just recently. Being full time student, I choose not to do much swapping around. Last thing I want is that off chance something breaks.
  12. I'll admit that when I put together the build in the nVidia case i didn't care so much about color scheme or cables. Though I did my best later on in it. Doesnt have many cables blocking airflow still not the best though. Though the newest build I did, but I don't like the 2 color looks I try and mix things up Red/blue type look. Case I didn't have much choice. Got it as a birthday gift.
  13. Well I have an extra 7970 with the blue PCB. I didn't think about it until you mentioned it, but it would look better. I'll do that once I'm done with todays classes. and @Tan no need to be hateful at my side panel! I'm a full time student so I don't have the full time needed to take out each and swap. The nvidia case has been with me for about 3 years completed. Just upgraded over the years. The intel is just finished recently. Maybe once I'm done with school I'll consider it. Though at that time I'll just build another. :P
