    Your monitors physical resolution is 720p, so loading videos at 1080p is pointless because you are going to still see it at 720p. Your graphics card just doesn't have to work as hard at a lower resolution. If you use V-sync your gpu will stop at 60fps because of the 60 hz refresh rate to avoid tearing and things like that. DVI supports 1080p and up to 1440p,

    Good catch on the monitor res. I didnt even look at it and assumed it was a 1080 monitor.
