My motherboard does have an m.2 slot and it does support NVME drives. But what I want to know is that will it support booting windows from the NVME drive? I cannot find anything on the gigabyte website or motherboard manual.
  2. Hey man, thank you. By losing power I mean it just shuts off like what would happen if you just unplug it from the wall. Yes I have tried different outlets in different houses with different power cables. Plus I just bought a new power supply(CX 550) but the issue still persists so I'm inclined to believe the mother board is at fault here. What do you think? Also I have logged all temps and overheating is not an issue I think. I had attached the log files. Please take a look if you can.

And after that my PC started randomly losing power. Sometimes it'd work for days with no issues, sometimes hours and sometimes just minutes. Out of warranty on all parts. Can't get any repair shop to find out what part is malfunctioning. I live in a tier 2 city in India, so there are close to no good repair shops. All they do is try a different part and see if it works which doesn't work for me because my issue is so random. Plus all the shops I asked don't seem to have a compatible board and CPU just lying around for testing. My PC was in the shops for like 3 months total and they couldn't figure anything out. I have shown my PC to three different repair shops. None of them have been able to pinpoint the issue. So I have to figure this out on my own. I think it is down to the motherboard or the CPU for the reasons below. Things I've tried: I have tried three different hard drives with fresh installs of Windows 10 and Ubuntu; PC still randomly loses power. The first repair shop told me my supply was the issue, so bought a cheap new one from him; PC still randomly loses power. I ran memtest, once or twice my PC lost power during running it but eventually it did work long enough to pass memtest. I have inspected the motherboard for physical damage but cannot see any. I have tried different power cables for the PSU and SATA cables for the drives, PC still randomly loses power. I removed everything that wasn't necessary like the the GPU, front IO cables etc, PC still randomly loses power. I've updated the BIOS, PC still randomly loses power. I ran the Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool(PDT) and my CPU passed. I logged the temps and there is no overheating. I tried different power outlets in my house and a friend's house, still the issue persisted. Just bought a new power supply (Corsair CX550) as I came to know my power supply was not a particularly good one, but the problem still persists. I have done a lot of digging around the internet and it looks to me like a motherboard issue. A guy suggested it might be a VRM issue cause otherwise my PC would have been bricked. But my PC works albeit for varying amounts of time, sometimes hours, sometimes days, sometimes just minutes. I've heard people say Processors and RAM sticks are resilient af. And my processor passes PDT and my RAM passes memtest so I feel they are fine. I'm out of job and cannot afford to just buy new parts. I used to work as web developer and this computer fixed. My best bet right now seems to be to buy a cheap H110 motherboard and hope that fixes it because buying a new LGA 1151 CPU is too expensive and doesn't make sense with the Ryzen 3rd gen chips. The other option seems to buy a new Ryzen chip and a compatible motherboard. But that is too expensive for me and an H110 seems to cost around INR 4000 in local shops. The main questions I have are: My RAM passes the memtest, so the RAM is not the issue, right? And my processor passes the Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool (PDT). Does that definitely mean that my processor is working fine and that it is not an issue? If so I will buy a new Motherboard. And if there is any way I can diagnose my board for problems please direct me to the proper resources. Also any other advice is high appreciated. Please feel free to ask any other questions. Please help me, I have been trying to solve this for the past 4 months and can't seem to get anywhere. P.S. - I am attaching my temp log files and my System Event Viewer logs here. The temp logs ends when my PC loses power. The Event viewer sometimes shows a couple of bad block on disk errors before a kernel loss but that is relatively new because when this all started a couple months ago it was just kernel 41 errors. I think the disc might had a couple of bad blocks now because of the numerous random power losses over the last couple of months. Anyways I have tried 3 different HDDs before with fresh installs of Windows and Ubuntu but the problem still persisted so i don't think HDDs are an issue. Please take a look and help if you can. 4. Hey. Thanks for your reply. I did check all the voltages with a multimeter and they were all within range. Reading the replies I feel I have to buy a better supply anyways so maybe I will start with that. Hey. Thank you for looking into my issue. I agree shops are almost useless but I had already tried all I know and thought they might have a spare part to try and diagnose my issue. It's a complete blackout, the kind you get if you suddenly remove the power cable, and then it restarts. Sometimes it will work for hours on end and sometimes it will lose power 2 or 3 times in a row while booting up. I bought this 3 years ago and was a newbie to PC building so I thought this was a good PSU, also it was 80 plus rated so I thought this might be good. I have logged all temps using HW Monitor and everything seems to be in place. I will attach the most recent log file. Please take a look if you can and find any issues. The logs stop when the PC loses power. Mind you I was running PDT again and was not in the room when this particular power loss happened, so I am not sure if PDT was running or it was completed when this blackout happened. But I ran PDT again and this time it completed showing "PASS" and have run it before as well and it passed before too. Also its not that it only loses power under heavy load. I have seen it idling or just using chrome and lose power as well. edit: I have also added some more log files in the first post. Hey man thanks. I have already tried a different power cable. And I don't use a UPS. OpenHardwareMonitorLog-2020-07-31(1).csv

  6. The GPU is not an issue, I already removed it and the problem persists. As for the shop owners, all they say is they don't have a test system at hand to put in my components and test. I saw this power supply testing video and others where they use a multi meter but I am still not sure if I want to poke around with a supply and a multi meter, though I will check it out.
  7. I already tried a different supply but the issue persists. Is there any way the PSU remains unscathed but the board got damaged by the outage?
  8. Specs CPU: Intel i5 6500 Motherboard: Gigabyte GA B150M D3H RAM: 8GB DDR4 HyperX Fury PSU: 600 Watt Coolermaster B600 GPU: Zotac GTX 1060 3GB HDD: 2 x 1TB Seagate Drives Case: Coolermaster K281 OS: Windows 10 64 bit Hey. My PC randomly loses power and restarts. A few months ago while my PC was on, the power suddenly went out. I turned it on again and it worked just fine. After a few days I witnessed the first random power loss. I though it might have been some fluctuation in my home's power and ignored it. But then the frequency increased to like every 2 or 3 days I'd experience a power loss. I receive no BSOD or anything, it just loses power and restarts. The System Log just shows Event 41. I have narrowed it down to a faulty Motherboard, CPU or RAM. It might be the PSU but I do not think it is as I already tried a different one(A cheap one) but the issue persisted. I have already removed the GPU and the extra hard drives. Things I have tried: 1. Different Power Cables for the PSU. 2. Fresh installs of Windows 10 and Ubuntu on 3 Different hard drives. 3. Different outlets in my house and a relative's house. 4. Removed my GPU, Front IO and Front Audio. 5. Switching SATA Cables for the drives. 6. Inspected the Motherboard for blown Capacitors(Found None). 7. Ran Memtest once and it passed. 8. Updated the BIOS 9. I logged temps and nothing is overheating. The issue still persisted after all this. Now the situation is that the PC may for for 3 or 4 days even or it might just lose power as it is turning on. Sometimes it loses power while turning on and restarts and loses power again instantly. It is totaly random. I live in Vadodara, Gujarat, India which is basically a tier 2 city and doesn't have a good repair shop. I took my PC to the store from where I bought the parts and the guy ran it on his power supply for a day or so and it worked. So I bought a cheap powersupply from him to test and took it home. My PC(No GPU) ran for 3 days without any issues. So I switched back to the old supply, It worked for 2 days and started having random power losses again. So I again switched back to the new supply and the new supply also has the same issues. I tested both the power supplies with a power supply tester(Link Below) the guy had at the store. One of the lights out of the left side(12V 5V and 3.3V) did not turn on. But it didn't turn on for both the supplies I tested so I guess the supplies are working and the tester must have been faulty(It was a very old unit I think). I do not have a multimeter for testing and honestly am not comfortable working with such a high voltage component. Power Supply Tester I used: https://www.amazon.in/iConnect-WorldTM-Power-Supply-Tester/dp/B01C406LRE/ Then I took it to another shop, who says he can't say for sure what the issue is. All the shop owners suggest replacing everything part by part and see what the issue is which is stupid because I'd have to buy everything NEW. They have no extra Motherboards that support this CPU cause this is supposedly a very high spec CPU and Motherboard. After some internet research I think the motherboards VRMs might be damaged but I am not sure. I cannot see any physical sign of damage to the board. I have no options of getting the issue diagnosed in my city and I have tried everything I can. There are just a handful of shops that have even a tiny bit understanding of PC repair here. All they can do is assemble PCs not diagnose and repair them. They try a different component and replace it if it isn't working and that's it. And in my case they can't do that because the have no extra LGA 1151 boards or CPU's lying around. I can buy and replace a part that is faulty but I can't just go on and keep buying parts hoping I stumble on the faulty one. I am out of a job and this PC is my only bread and butter as I used to work as a Web Developer. I think I have covered everything still feel free to ask any questions. Currently my PC is with the guy at the second shop who told me today he couldn't find the fault. I have one more shop in mind that says he can diagnose motherboards but I am not very hopeful if I should give it to him or just bring my PC back home. Please advise further. How do I make sure what is faulty? I am stuck since months and have no clue what to do next!
  9. You should check out the local shops first, especially if you live in a metro city. When I built my PC, parts were marginally cheaper in some local stores as compared to amazon, and I dont even live in a metro city. Also some local store might even build the PC for you if you buy parts from there. Just be careful and look out for scammers.
  10. Love the audio capabilities of the device. Kudos for ZTE for making it. More companies need to focus on audio in phones
  11. I have a Dell Standard keyboard(model number unknown) Would love a mechanical keyboard. Logitech basic mouse(model number unknown) For headphones I use In-Ear Sony ones. No Mousepad
  12. I just built my first PC, thanks to the suggestions of LTT forums. But I didn't have enough budget for a graphics card(Blew it all on a better CPU). So i'm using the integrated Intel HD530 as of right now which you know is shit. Could really use a new AMD card.
  13. Thank you guys I'll visit tonymacx86 But i cannot get a 950. It is out of my already stretched budget. Any more advice is welcome
  14. Are these sites reliable cause i jave never heard of them? Have you ordered from them?if yes how was your experience?
  15. Hello I am building my first pc as my laptop is not working anymore. https://www.amazon.in/registry/wishlist/RGIX79HYHW2B/ref=cm_sw_r_wa_an_wl_o_SGABxbB7GM6NY These are the parts I have selected. Here are my queries : 1. Are all these parts compatible? Although i have checked but i am still worried as it is my first build . 2. I have not selected a case as i worry about cable lenth of psu. What should i tale into consideration?top mounted or bottom mounted psu ? With either be long enough for all cables to the motherboard? How many fans i require ? 3. I have a laptop that came with Windows 7 which i then upraded via an offer to Windows 8. I received the key for Windows 8. Later i updated it to Windows 10 .Now that laptop is dead. Can i use that Windows 8 key in the new desktop and then upgrade it to Windows 10 ? 4. Also about static electricity while building. i researched a bit and found that it can affect components while building. Is only touching plastic parts okay?any advice? 5. I am a computer engineering student and have to develop an ios app as part of my final year project. So will thia config work as a hackintosh or can i run mac os virtually on windows while having smooth operation on xcode ? I need both windows and mac os(only for xcode). 6. Do i need a separate cooler or will the stock cooler work? 7. So i need to buy anything else except monitor keyboard mouse and case like cables or connectors etc? I plan to use this for gaming as well as app/web/software development . My budget ia 50000 INR and i live in India Thanks in advance and any advice/help is appreciated.
