Upgrade to 7700k or wait for coffee lake?
Mantis21 replied to Mantis21's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Thanks for the input, I was thinking about waiting too -
I'm currently running an fx 8350 with my GTX 1070. I mostly play games and do some light coding and rendering tasks. I don't think I do enough big processing tasks to warrant buying Ryzen. Do you guys think I should go ahead and upgrade (cpu, mobo, RAM) to a 7700k or wait for coffee lake?

Help me maximize this ebay find!

I agree with Aisle9. You should look into the PSU, and if you want more performance try to find one 3rd gen CPU, it should be a significant step up (if I'm remembering correctly). -
I would love either, but with my current needs, the blade stealth would be excellent. I would use it for school, coding, and of course watching LTT.

I have an r9 270x in my rig right now. It was considered a good budget card, but I think it's due for an upgrade

lol forgot your light gaming! You could wait for lower prices on the rx 480 or just pick up a gtx 950 or similar. If your doing reallyyyy light gaming you could use integrated intel graphics

I don't know a whole lot about photography, but it looks great to me. I just watched your bose sound link review and it was good, just don't let your music overpower your voice. I see a lot of YouTubers use music for visuals and either turn it way down when they are talking or cut it off. The quality of sound is good though. Again I don't know much about filming either, but I think you can get a handheld stabilizer for recording cars and stuff (reduce bounciness).
