At this point I would RMA that card. One of my buddies had the same issue and shortly after the card died, he RMA'd it and they sent him a new one since there was nothing they could do about the old one anymore.

You said "the SLI trend is dead". Your words, not mine.
Saying "the SLI trend is dead" is fundamentally no different than saying "SLI is dying".

Nobody said anything about doubling performance. However, if you stop being so hasty to make assumptions and take the time to examine the facts established by benchmarking 50 games, you would realize your best bet is going to be 85% scaling, not 50%.

Also, some games have been noted to have 90%+ scaling, such as Sleeping Dogs, Dying Light, Gears of War 4, and For Honor.

I would run 2 360 rads and that case needs the modded top and front to get enough airflow for 2 rads in it.You can buy the panels done from https://modmymods.com/custom-services/phanteks-case-mods.html

To keep the 2x 1080Tis and your 7700K in check you will want the maximum possible amount of radiator space in your case. Which probably means to have a top mounted radiator as well.  Many have built custom loops in this case and the conclusion seems to be poor airflow makes it difficult to have good performance without modding the panels.

I would recommend having dual-360 slim (30 mm radiators) as a minimum. I have not built in this case, but it looks like theres much more space in it than a Define C, so I think you'll manage. Don't be afraid to get creative and not go with a standard pump/res combo since that can save you space (for example to have the pump in the basement area.

    Video editing is another story.

For your purposes, @don_svetlio is correct, a Macbook will do you nothing.
For your friend's purposes, 4k editing, he could be correct. Mac OSX has a video editing program called Final Cut Pro that is so optimized for OSX that it's hardware accelerated with background rendering always enabled in addition to other optimizations allow it to make a joke out of alot of Windows laptops on Preimere. So for video editing, hardware doesn't necessary play as big as a role you would think. It's all about the optimizations and OS. A 12in Macbook with a core m on FCP will outedit a beast of a machine on the Windows side purely because of FCP.
