Something to think about outside of the context the post is talking about: https://lifehacker.com/dont-be-a-reply-guy-1832792226

Wow it's almost like she's the one that is compelled to provide them a reply based off what she is saying. I don't remember reading anywhere in the article about the author just choosing to not engage with them.

The point of sharing this article was to think about it outside of the original problem the article is trying to address here, because there are generic points you can take away from it.

But eh, if you want to feel like she deserved whatever responses she got in her history, then ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

When you make content on the internet you open yourself up to everything from support to criticism. Both can be justified and unwarranted, it's just how the world works.

Also don't pretend that it only happens to women. I regularly watch the Level1Techs news shows and they usually start out most shows with their "corrections" section where commenters on their previous videos tell them repeatedly what they got wrong. Ryan even called them a bunch of "pedantic fucks" in jest in a recent episode.

Moral of the story is that when you produce your content on an anonymous near universal platform you're going to have to learn to handle and deal with fair and ridiculous criticism. If that's too much for a persons delicate sensibilities then they should publish on a platform with less community interaction.

what the heck did i just read?

What am i supposed to take away from that?

@Origami Cactus that apparently people can't handle posts on twitter or their content that they publish?

I don't think the point of the article is to criticize the criticizers, but if you're constantly typing away on the internet in response to something, you have to ask yourself why you're doing it in the first place. Yes, criticism is fine and all, but if you're doing it because you want to stick your e-penis in someone else's pie, you should take a step back.

@Mira Yurizaki @imreloadin So, in other words, the internet's the internet and some people don't know when their comments are unwarranted? Doesn't this type of issue happen IRL too? Like when a former U.S. President decides to tell off the current President by insulting them on the news/social media and saying what they would have done, in opposed to simply offering guidance (for the sake of their country and its reputation). That's called people getting out-of-line. I understand the writer's opinion, but I am also forced to remind us all that there will always be those who don't know how to treat others. That's the purpose of moderators on many platforms - to curb the trash-posting.

I've been told (paraphrasing) that people with ADHD shouldn't be able to hold jobs. In person, to my face. And I have ADHD. It's human nature, sadly.

That's because this is the internet and everyone wants to be right no matter how wrong they are xD I really don't understand how the people who wrote that article thought an anonymous platform that allows people to interact would turn out differently. All it's doing is showing how naive they are.

And pointing out how much time people waste trying to be right. If you have time to waste being right, you have time to go do something more productive.

@Mira Yurizaki Ok thanks for the points, i now understood it.

But my only gripe with the article is that she talks like that it only a "man" issue, while i have met women with the same traits. So i would just call these annoying people "annoying people". No need to be sexist for no reason.
