  1. I just realized it uses thermal pads instead of thermal paste, so i would it be worth replacing those with new ones?
  2. I just bought a MSI X58 Pro-E and a Xeon X5650 on Ebay and overclocked my Xeon X5650 to 3,8GHz (might try to reach 4GHz at some point) and the CPU temps are alright, but i just noticed that the IOH temprature of the mainboard is petty high (up to 112°C/233°F). Is this temprature alright or should I replace the thermal paste under the chipset and VRM heatsink and even add a small fan to the mainboard if it is not enough?
  3. A bare system without a GPU or anything that could use a lot of power draws 115W at idle and 180W at load when the CPU is not overclocked according to PCGamesHardware which is quite a bit more then I'd like. I'd really like to stay bellow 100W or even 50W if possible when there is just a website or something similar running on the server.
  4. I want to build a cheap workstation PC which I'll mainly use for video editing for the next two years and I did some research today and stepped over the Xeon X5650/X5660/X5670 which only cost about 30 - 50€ used where I live. I would have already bought one of them in combination with a X58 mainboard which a friend of mine will be selling but then I saw that the power consumption of these CPUs is pretty high. The reason why this is a problem for me is because I want to use this PC as a server/NAS in two years. Can I reduce the power draw to a point where it is comparable to a somewhat modern Xeon E3 if I lower the clockspeed and voltage and maybe even disable 2 cores or should I go with a Xeon E3 which is way more expensive right away? ^^
  5. I am planing to start a new Youtube channel and therefore upgrading my current PCs GPU and i would have gone with the RX 480, because its price/performance-ratio is about as good as it gets in my country and because i wanna play some games at 1080p. But after i did some research online i saw that some programs (like Blender) benefit from Nvidias CUDA acceleration but i couldn't find any current numbers. As of right now I might pick up a GTX 1060 instead, but I'm not to sure because its price/performance-ratio is not as good as AMDs RX 480. Has anyone experience with editing/rendering on AMD/Nvidia GPUs and can help me out? Im also not to sure how important the amount of VRAM is for editing/rendering: 1060 (3gb vs 6gb), 480 (4gb vs 8gb).
  6. A few months ago I build a new PC with a Gigabyte G1.Sniper B7 mainboard, a i5-6500 and a GTX 1070 and im currently thinking of buying a fast M.2 SSD because my mainboard has a PCIe x4 M.2 slot. But just before I bought it I remembered that my mainboard has a B150 chipset that only supports 8 PCIe lanes which made me think that the left over PCIe lanes would bottleneck my 1070. Does anyone know if this will be the case or do you think it will work fine? Mainboard: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=5526#ov Thanks for your help! :3
  7. Hi, I bought a GTX 1070 on the 27th of september from Amazon and they told me i will recive my code for Gears of War in 7-10 workdays but I still haven't got anything. Therefore I wanted to know if you recived the code after buying a selected graphics card during the period of the promotion.
  8. Hi, I'm currently looking for a good ultrabook that costs less than 1000€ which I will be mostly using for traveling and programming. The one that really stood out to me was the "Medion S3409 MD 6022" because of its look, performance and high ssd capacity. Do you think that's a good choice or would you recommend me a different one?
  9. Hi I'm currently looking for an ultrawide monitor up to 500€ which I would mostly use for gaming, video editing and programming and I am wondering if its worth to buy a curved one. I'd love to hear about your experience and please give me your opinion and suggestions about this.
  10. Hi I'm currently using the stock Intel CPU cooler and now that I finally replaced my GT 640 with a GTX 1070 the air in my case is getting a lot hotter and therefore my CPU is between 80°C-90°C under full load and my CPU fan gets extremly loud. Since this is happening I decided that I need to upgrade my CPU cooler and I was looking for a good cooler that's not too expensive and the ones that really stood out to me where the be quiet! Dark Rock 3 and the Cryorig H7 mainly because of their look and performance. Here in Germany the price of the H7 is about 25€ cheaper than the Dark Rock 3 and therefore i would be replacing the fan on the H7 with the Corsair ML120 Red LED because i heard that the fan of the H7 isn't the most quiet one and because it would match the Black/Red color scheme of my PC a lot more. I'm also going to upgrade my CPU, mainboard and RAM when Kabylake and Zen are released (I'll probably buy a 4core/8threads CPU) and I want to stick with the CPU cooler that I'm going to buy now. Please give me your opinions and suggestions about this purchase. PC specs: -CPU: Intel Core i5-3470 -Mainboard: Aspire M3985 -RAM: Nanya Technology 8GB RAM (2x4GB) -Case: NZXT S340 -PSU: be quiet! Pure Power 9 600W -Video Card: MSI Geforce GTX 1070 Gaming X -HDD: 1TB Seagate Barracuda special notes: -The CPU, mainboard, RAM and HDD are from my old desktop PC which i bought a few years ago when i new nothing about PC components and will be replaced in the future -Pls dont hate me when i say something wrong about computer hardware because I'm still fairly new in this sceene -I am probably making a lot of grammar and vocabulary mistakes because I'm german teenager who's still learning English
  11. I'd really like to win the Razer Blade because the notebook im currently using is so old/bad that it cant run Minecraft at 30 fps. Also congratulations for this huge milestone and i hope you keep up the good content! (You better do because of the new stricter Youtube monetization xD)
