Swindless reacted to Lays in OC3D review of 980 TI Lightning
After reading Logan's review of the 980 TI Lightning, I am heavily disappointed.

    Link: http://www.overclock3d.net/reviews/gpu_displays/msi_gtx980ti_lightning_review/1

This may seem like a rant, so I put it in offtopic. Hopefully that's OK.  I just think people should see this and hopefully ask him for more.

The card is designed for overclocking and built for about anything you can throw at it, whether it be 1000w of power draw under Ln2, or just pushing it to the limits on air or water cooling.

His "Overclocking" section ( I'm not even sure if it deserves to be called that ) is just embarrassing and half-assed.  It contains TWO SENTENCES and a GPU-Z screenshot. What the actual hell...?   His LED control section was more detailed than the "overclocking" section.  I understand he may have been busy or had to ship out the card next day, but 2 sentences and a GPU-Z screenshot is pathetic for a card that's literally main focus is overclocking.

My complaint I left on his review page hopefully will be answered by him, and hopefully he has legitimate reasoning for not including actual boost clocks, & his overclocking experience with the card, etc.

I'm super disappointed because usually he goes above and beyond, but this just seemed really lackluster...  I expect more out of a TTL review

I left this post on his review thread:

I don't think I've seen Samsung memory on ref cards. I'm sure Gigabyte will have it and EVGA's higher brands.
I'm gonna do some more testing in a bit and see if I can beat my high score. Pretty good first run followed by mediocre runs.

One 780 will certainly let you get by long enough to see what the 880 has to offer. I can tell you now its certainly not going to be more powerful than two 780s, but if nothing else 780 prices might go down some. The only conceivable scenario where I would buy an 880 and ditch a 780 rather than SLI it is if the 880 was like 30% more powerful than the 780 ti and sold for les than 450(US) AND I knew someone who wanted to buy my 780.

The more likely scenario is that the 880 is marginally more powerful than the 780, while running cooler and drawing less power, and costing more than the 780 initially, with a price drop coming later.

You should wait for the 800 series then buy another 780. Im sure it will drive prices down. They would be shooting themselves in the foot if they come out with cheaper cards that perform the same.

Just get a 780. The 800 series are rumored to be nearly the same in performance than the 700 series, but cheaper.

Honestly, at this point, it makes sense to wait and see what the 800 series will bring.  If it nothing else, then at least you will probably see a price drop on the 780's

Get another, the 800 series are probably  only 10-20% faster, where buying a second card will give you 50-100% more performance
