A wise man once said, get the best single GPU solution you can afford. Unless your really set on those, and getting it from auction, I would say get something else.

Back when I was picking pc parts on pcpartpicker for my build, something happened... I had already decided to go with the GTX 1070, but did not know which specific card to go with. After looking around the inter webs, I stumbled upon the MSI Geforce GTX 1070 Armor 8G OC; and it was at that moment that I knew that was the one. It had no backplate, but that didn't matter, since I was using an inverted layout. It was plain black and white, and people told me I was a fool to go with it, since it looked so plain and such. Little did they know that the plain-ness was what I was after, as it complemented the rest of my build perfectly, I added it to my build, and it was complete. All there was to do now was wait until it came time to order everything... When the time came, I opened my Macbook, looked at the steam icon on the dock, and said to it:"The next time I click you, you will be in my glorious 144hz gaming rig, and then I looked at the Macbook and said:"no longer will I burden you with the high stress activity of gaming, and you will be used for what you are meant for; schoolwork. As I opened the browser, and typed in the URL, my heart racing, I clicked "system build" and clicked buy on all the parts I carefully picked after hours of research, everything else bought, I approached the last item: The video card. As I clicked on the SuperBizz link, adrenalin flowing through my veins. As the page loaded. It hit me. Under the price were 3 words, the my arch nemesis, bane of cantalOPe; it read: OUT OF STOCK. In desperation, I search Amazon, NCIX, and every tech site imaginable for it to no avail, as they were all consumed by the price gouging. In a last stand, I opened my email, preparing to send an email to SuperBizz support. As I scanned my eyes, looking for the "compose" icon, I saw some new mails from Massdrop. In an attempt to cheer myself up, I decided to read them. As soon as I opened it, my eyes flooded with joy. Massdrop, our salvation, our great lord and saviour, had started a drop for the GTX 1070 Armor 8G OC, and I clicked it. I miiiiight have gotten a little carried away with the story, but whatever. Probably just the writer in me coming out NOTE: Story is slightly modified from the truth and exaggerated

No man, didn't get it yet, but if the MSI Armor does't come back into stock soon, I may be forced to get it, since I only have a small window of time to get the card while I'm in the US. Well, I heard that its always best to get the best single card you can afford... or is there something I'm not aware of?

Ok, thank you for the advice. May I also ask what brand of heat resistant paint you used?
-
Ok, thank you. That seems manageable for me

The thing is it's out of stock, and I only have a small window of time to buy my card, and it probably won't be back in stock before I have to order a card.

One Good & One Bad thing about Your PC
cantalOPe replied to Tech_Dreamer's topic in General Discussion
Good: Installed Windows, so I can play Windows only games. Bad: Said computer is a Macbook potato, and cannot run any notable Windows only games. -
I'm thinking about painting the silver aluminium parts of the GTX 1070 Founders Edition white, so it matches my setup better. However, I am new to PC building in general, and even more so to modding PCs, so I was wondering how much disassembly and experience would be required for the task. Thanks in advance.

Good Inverted ATX Cases -$150 With Full Side Panel?
cantalOPe replied to cantalOPe's topic in Power Supplies
Ok then, I guess thats what I get for trying to be cheap -
Due to the fact that I have to put my PC on the left side of my desk, I need a PC with an inverted ATX format (Corsair 600C), so that the window is not facing the wall, does anyone have good suggestions? Thanks.

Ok, thanks, I'll check it out.

Should you have more intake or outtake fans? My build has 1 rear fan, 2 front fans, and 3 bottom fans, what should I set to intake and outtake? Keep in mind I can also change it, as its not build/bought yet.

I've been thinking of getting a pair of entry level "audiophile" headphones for a while now, and the DT 770s seemed perfect, only problem is they are not portable at all, which is a deal breaker for me, I've heard that the HD 280/380s also had good sound, and soundscape, but are also more portable than the DT 770s. If anyone has experience with them, could you please tell me? Thanks.
