  1. crap, i thought i had looked through well enough. my bad guys, i must have missed the original
  2. https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2017/jul/03/samsung-exploding-note-7-repackaged-galaxy-note-fan-edition Original Article: The Guardian So it would appear that Samsung is trying to recoup some of the revenue lost by the exploding Samsung Galaxy Note 7 last year. They claim to have completely replaced the batteries in what they are calling the "Fan Edition" or "FE" for short. They will be selling for £470 (608.32 USD, 791.19 CAD, and 535.03 Euro) and it will be a limited release, at only 400,000 initial units. Aside from the battery upgrade, it doesn't look like there are any changes spec wise. The rest of the article goes on to give a brief overview of the troubled history of the Note 7.
  3. I would probably go with something with about a gtx 950m and an i5-6200U or 7200U. Acer makes some decently priced stuff with this.
  4. How do you go about enabling it? The announcement says to go to the new Account Menu, which I have been unable to locate. Edit: Nevermind...
  5. I say go for the Asus. A 1050 is more than enough to run all those programs, although if you can find a configuration that features an SSD, I would say go for that. most you really need for an SSD is about 500 GB. But if you need more storage than that stick with mechanical.
  6. If it's in C, C#, or C++, you could always convert it to a ROM!
  7. Okay, so I've been getting into minimalist conky themes and I was just wondering if there are any that will display news headlines, from sources like the NY Times and The Guardian, as well as wired, ars technica, and the verge. also, if you know of any other cool minimalist themes, hmu. currently just running qlocktwo but want to add more
  8. thank you so much! My reasoning for going through html was because I couldn't find any tools to go straight from txt to xml. I will definately give the documentation a look!
  9. Hi, so I'm working on a bash script to convert several .txt files in a directory into .xml. I found it was pretty tricky to accomplish that directly so i attempted .txt to .html then .html to .xml and it worked perfectly. Now, I'm still kinda new to the world of bash scripts and was wondering how I might be able to accomplish some things. The first thing is, how do i set a variable equal to the number of .txt files in a directory. Second, well, here's my pseudo code... x = [number of .txt files in directory] for i in range (x): txt2html [file number i].txt -o [file of same name].html for i in range (x): tidy -q -asxml [file number i].html >[file of same name].xml rm *.html yea, i'm not exactly sure how to do for loops, or how to convert the files in a sequence and have the output file have the same name as the original, just in a new format. Any help is appreciated!
  10. I agree, although you may just want to look into getting a 120gb ssd for fairly cheap and use that with the mechanical drive. Keep the first SSD in your laptop and have two computers
  11. What kind of router and phone do you have? Can you ping an external source from your other devices?
  12. So, at work, we just found out that a software we use to manage our databases will be making some major changes in the next year. One major change is how we upload raw data to the database. Currently, we can upload text (tab delimited) files and/or .csv and everything works fine, but they are changing it to only accept .xml files. It won't be a big deal to start creating them as these files, the problem is that we now need to convert years worth of raw data into xml format. Is there terminal based tool (or anything else in Linux) that can handle the conversion?
