So I ripped apart this EliteBook 840 G6 because it swears it has a 32GB Kingston SD card but I couldn't fucking find it.
I had the smart card reader removed, detached the mouse pad, removed the SSD, took the battery out, ripped out the keyboard, looked under the RAM, checked the SIM slot. Could not find a SD card or SD card slot. Some research said the Smart Card reader can have an adapter to read SD cards but nothing was in there.
Turns out the bastard was hiding under the Wi-Fi card of all places as a eMMC module.
Why is this here? Why does this exist? Why bother when you have a NVMe SSD slot and came with one? This is a TB2932 which according to what I read is a SATA performance level chip but it's only 32GB. What function does this serve? I was able to format it and mount the drive. I mean you could in theory install Linux on it and use that if you wanted the laptop to double as a server but otherwise I have no idea...
Any ideas?
