  1. Unfortunately it is not good at FP32, at all. From gamers nexus video. So no for gaming lol. They have data from the announcment
  2. Honestly looks like a blower style 580 to me. Its not a new GPU, its still an RX 580. There might be a new cooler design from MSI though, but it doesn't look special. The fins are horizontal so most of the air will come out where the IO bracket is or the other end of the card. Honestly I wouldn't expect it to run much differently than any other blower style 580.
  3. If you plug it into your mobo/hub, the fan speed should ramp up with the CPU temp, but you just might want to tune it some, for optimal noise/performance. edit: no problem
  4. Yes, you will just have to set up the fan curves. The headers coming from the AIO are controlled by the firmware, to scale PWM duty cycle with CPU/Coolant temps automatically. If you don't use them youll just have to manually make sure the fans ramp up as you desire.
  5. lol. *reads “online elements”* *instantly assume game is built around microtrans* *get pitchfork* *read response from CDPR* *put pitchfork back* yall are trippin lol
  6. Select the drive partition your trying to install windows to, and select 'delete'. This will pretty much 'unformat' the drive. Then try to install to that drive. It will format the drive for you when you choose to install to it I was just reinstalling windows on my new Intel 900P this morning
  7. The GPU companies use the same chips/arch across all products/markets. If they are making a graphics capable arch, they just have to throw it in a board, make drivers and profit. I doubt intel would even try if they couldn’t get around the patents. Im just saying, they state graphics specifically, if they are making a graphics capable arch, they will create a consumer version. Probably not first (like nvidia does) but eventually.
  8. You’re ignoring the OS. The OS has a huge impact on performance. It handles a lot of the “close to hardware” stuff where major optimization’s can be made. And obviously Apple writes the OS
  9. I actually would disagree. Why would they create an architecture for graphics and not ever release a consumer variant. And by Intels own wording on the matter, they specifically state graphics and compute and not just the latter. Also “wide range” and “high end”. It would be quite the shite business decision to not use some of the chips for consumer variants, they can target two separate markets with a single GPU, like the other companies do. People are overly pessimistic about this imo. Since I’ve been into hardware I haven’t seen nvidia or AMD create an entire new architecture and never release a consumer variant, because it’s expensive to make and you want to recoup that investment in all applicable markets. edit: before someone says Volta, they will eventually lol. Intel will probably start with business/professional/compute cards but they almost definatley will also release consumer cards. Also Raja is in charge, I have faith
  10. https://newsroom.intel.com/news-releases/raja-koduri-joins-intel/ They officially announced they are making discrete graphics cards
  11. Intel is going to start making discrete GPUs also. Sounds like they will making both compute and consumer graphics cards edit: @Hackentosher seriously no joke lol
  12. Really don’t think all of these should have been merged, the Raja news and the Intel/AMD APU are separate topics
  13. Can’t wait to see their naming scheme for the GPUs. Intel GFX9 2946739K Extreme Ultamite Megatasking Edition
  14. Right now the GPU market is expanding quickly with more workloads suited for them, so it makes sense. And from the wording on Intels website it seems they will make consumer cards. anyway, if they are going to manufacture the chips, why not throw some of them in consumer cards to make a bigger return on R&D? Obviously it’s not quite that simple but it’s not like they have to design a separate chip to target consumers, and if they can squeeze more revenue from developing a new architecture they I don’t see why they wouldn’t.
  15. From the actual wording on Intels website, they say they are expanding their iGPu lineup into high end discrete graphics solutions which seem to imply normal gPUs as well, along with compute solutions
  16. You beat me! This is the best thing to happen in a long time AnnandTech article: https://www.anandtech.com/show/12017/intel-to-develop-discrete-gpus-hires-raja-koduri-as-chief-architect Obviously if this comes to be, it will take a while before a GPU would come to market, hopefully they will make gamer oriented GPUs. Can’t wait to buy an intel GPU, and actually bring competition back into the space. This is getting interesting. I must be hallucinating, Raja left for intel, AMD working with Intel, and then Intel GPUs? Maybe nvidia will make a CPU and we will have 3 competitors in both markets lol edit: From the wording of the article I expect them to make a full stack of both consumer and HPC products. And I don’t see why they would make a GPU and not reuse the chip in a gaming card to make a larger ROI on all of the r&d this is going to take.
  17. This is some of the most interesting news we’ve had in a while imo. Can’t wait to hear what Linus has to say on this topic. I wish intel was able to get into full discrete GPUs, it would be amazing to have a third competitor in the space. Then have nvidia start making CPUs and we will have a computing revolution lol. edit: just saw a news article from annandtech that intel will make high end discrete gpus!! This is sweet https://www.anandtech.com/show/12017/intel-to-develop-discrete-gpus-hires-raja-koduri-as-chief-architect
  18. Well, if there are regions in the world who use different types of hardware/software, such as Asia having a high percentage of users using windows 7. And then they send the survey to a disproportionate amount of Asians, they can bias the survey against windows 10. Not that I think valve had any bias in a hardware survey, but if they wanted to skew results by sending surveys to 80% of people in Asia but only 5% to North America, they could
  19. :) You should do a trigger build. Do everything wrong to trigger your entire audience. Like the stand-off thing you talked about in your stream

  20. That's not exactly how it works lol. The game doesn't 'take over' threads. Theres something called a scheduler that handles all of that in the kernel of your OS. Otherwise when you run something like Prime95 your entire PC would freeze. Now, if a synthetic benchmark can run on 4 threads, and still have windows function, why cant a game that's much less intensive? A game doesn't constantly pin all cores to 100%. Will you see a loss in performance though? Yes. How significant? Probably not enough to spent over $300. This is my opinion. If you think it is worth it, then that's fine. But its not unreasonable to use a 4 core CPU with no HT for gaming in my opinion. Especially one with such high SC performance.
  21. Honestly, get another stick of RAM. Unless you want to, I would stick with the CPU, its really not going to make a big difference, even though others don't seem to agree. If you spend $300+ for a 7700k or $500+ for an 8700k, you will not gain a whole lot of performance in MOST games. I'm sure someone can find benchmarks of games where high thread counts actually help (Watch Dogs 2), but in general, you will not see a significant performance gain in gaming going from a 7600k to a 7700k (<10%). If that price is worth the gain, then go ahead, but don't feel like you HAVE to get rid of your <1year old unlocked i5. But, my advice is to watch some gaming benchmarks for the CPU, for instance, in the GamersNexus review of the 7600k, in BF1 the 7600k (Stock) was averaging 140.5 FPS, and the 7700k was averaging 141 FPS (this is at the 1080p Ultra) Obviously I cherry picked this benchmark, but I believe you should do some research and watch some CPU reviews before upgrading the CPU. In the mean time, you should at least get 16GB of RAM, and a better PSU if you plan to overclock and want to maintain overall efficiency.
  22. Honestly the lack of HT shouldn't too drastically affect performance. The 7600k is still a single threaded beast.
  23. I have a 7700k overclocked and a 1080Ti on a custom water loop and I don't always get that much FPS at 1440p when maxed out, its just your graphics settings. If youre going by what a benchmark said, make sure youre settings are matched cause they don't always completely max out settings when doing benchmarks
  24. Personally, I wouldn't sacrifice performance for RGB. But I also don't know how their Thermaltakes blocks perform. But you should be fine, pretty much anything you buy will have G1/4 threading so you don't have to worry about compatibility.
